Wow, here I am cleaning up the drool off my keyboard after seeing this. I hope to get one of these soon and hope that I can do it the justice you did to this one.
I just learned that if you want to get $100 off of a kit, you can have the coupon they would send me for referring you so apparently if I send someone to Kibler I get $100 coupon to use or I can transfer it to whoever I referred. I think the on their site is everyone is allowed three of these per year so you can refer three friends a year, so go ahead and take one of mine and get hundred dollars off. Pardon the lack of grammar as this was a talk text.
Looks great! I’m working on one myself right now. Did you take the dome off the top of the tang bolts so they’d sit flush by chance? Highly satisfying project. Bet you can’t wait to go shoot it.
Bonapartes Retreat by William Stepp. It’s a classic American tune that Aaron Copland ripped off and gave no credit for when he did the Hoe-Down section of Rodeo. William Stepp wrote this long before.
I would be interested to hear what grade wood you have here, it looks very nice, I ordered fancy grade for my SMR and received the plainest piece of Maple I have ever seen.
@@FolkFirearmsCollective All prep done to best practice, 5 x Iron Nitrate and heat gun treatment as I wanted a darker effect, stock has come out well but with very little figure for fancy grade Maple, I use a Danish oil with Alkenet for finish which gives a more reddish tint, no stain at any part of the process as that tends to fade over time, I also hand forged patch box and ramrod thimbles together with all other iron fitting just to make it a personal build. Very pleased with it but disappointed with the wood quality. Nice to see you gave yours lots of Danish oil, I think that gives a more durable final coat. Enjoy your build,
No. This is also how some other rifles I have are. I’m told it’s because the oils can soften the woods there. I wax those areas anyway. It’s a nice tight fit.

Be Proud My Friend, Beautiful!
Thank you sir!! She’ll only get better with age. A little wear, new oil after shoots, and she’ll look good in about 80 years !!
Absolutely Beautiful.
Beautiful rifle!
Finished out very nice!! You did a fine job!
Well I had some incredible help, more than help, guidance and talent of a renowned gun builder and close friend. I couldn’t have done it without Gene.
Nice Rifle!
Very nice looking rifle.
Where dose a fellow find a build it yourself kit like or similar to your kit. The end result was really good-looking family treasure forever.
Jim Kibler of Kiblerlongrifles.com tell them we sent you over there. Kits are about $1300 and worth every cent. Truly the best kit there is.

Extra fancy highest grade here. Did you iron nitrate and heat gun it? What finish method? Stain?

Why is there no finish on the inside of the lock recess? Wouldn't you want to seal it from moisture? It's going to be a prize winner...

May I ask, what is that device on your right index finger?
That’s a brace or splint he has for medical reason I believe. He mentioned it’s custom made.
