Excellent work really! I also saw how gently the fish were placed in the pond .. speaks a lot about how you care for every bit of your work. I am inspired to have one done like yours … the simplicity spoke quite a lot to me . Well done again!
Thank you for sharing your video. It made me happy to know that I can also build a similar pond in my own yard. I think I will try to do mine above ground because my yard is both rocky and clay. You made my day!
Hi Lora! I’m not sure if Google translator did her job well, so I apologize if my response doesn’t make sense ☺️ Thank you for loving our work. Don’t forget to share pictures of your new pond with us ❤️
Thanks for loving our work! ❤️ We use 4 in 1 Pond Filter System: the fountain, filtering, pumping and lamp. Check out our newest video “Garden Pond & Waterfall” for more info about this filter system.
Hi! We didn’t have green water problem. Green water is a common and recurring problem. To prevent it, you should provide some degree of shade & add plants to your pond. Ideally, you’ll want to cover approximately 60% of the pond’s surface with plants. Keep the amount of fish & feed your fishes suitable with your filter system. Install a UV light and use beneficial bacteria helps to prevent green water algae from growing.
Hi Cuong! We got our pond liner from Webb’s wafer gardens. The link’s below. Hope this helps! webbsonline.com/Category/Firestone-EPDM-Rubber-Liner-For-Ponds-and-Waterfalls
We use 4 in 1 pond filter system: the fountain, filtering, pumping, & lamp. Check out our video “Garden Pond & Waterfall” for more info about this filter system
Hi Jordan! We found the best way to deal with most predators is covering the pond with a fine net. It denies all animals access to the fishes and is relatively easy to find in stores and set up.
4:50 Could see you changed it later in the video but gonna say that fountain is too large for the pond, in the wind it'll blow water side ways and drain the pond daily.
Hi Varsha! We’re happy this video was helpful. This pump’s only 55 watts/ 660 gph. After this pond’s built about 2 months, we upgraded our pump to 120 watts/ 2700 gph since koi ponds need a higher turnover rate
Great job, looks very nice, in fact it's just looks like mine l built, but mine is smaller, 120 gallons, to protect the liner l rendered the inside of mine and the blocks around the side l used mortar, didn't you use the statue in the end, of the frog with water outlet? Great job.
A nice pond, You put a lot of work into it. But it looks to be a bit small for the number of Koi that you have. They will soon overtake your filtration system, water quality will drop, and they will become sick. If you must have fish in a pond of that size, Goldfish are your best bet. About 4 or 5 max, to start. On the up side, you have left yourself an almost perfect area for natural filtration system which will eliminate the need for UV light, and filter pads, which need constant attention.
Hi Teresa! You’re absolutely right about this 1000 gallons for the amount of kois that we have. Kois need the room to get big and grow like they are supposed to. So we’ve upgraded our pond to 10,000 gallons. The video’ll be posted soon 😆😊
Our pond, about 6 ft. by 7 ft. and about 2 ft. deep, is mostly above ground, a large plastic bin is what we bought, surrounded it with stand up concrete blocks, filled in with earth (actually sand, here in Florida) and colorful plants in the earth. We have a 47 watt submersible pump, water plants, like hyacinth (which is illegal here in Florida to put into moving water or sloughs because it is invasive) which cover about 1/3 of the pond surface, and we clean our pump filter every few days. Water is from rain and sprinkler (from our own well which has no chlorine). We have very hot summers, 90 F. for the past 3 months, and our pond water is very dirty. Do not know how to clean the water other than emptying the pond. We have about 25 small goldfish and one small Koi. Love your video, but our pond is a lot different. When we empty our pond and clean it, the bottom is like mud, not sure where it is coming from, except the water plants. Any idea how to get our pond clean? You are using the same water hyacinth that we have.
Gwynn Alcorn I’m not an expert, but I’ll tell you from my own experience and what I’ve learnt so far: Treat you pond with beneficial bacteria weekly (check out our video No Dig Pond for the specific product that we’ve been using) Install UV light Control your feeding, use pond kit to test your water, if the results come back not good, you might have to stop feeding for few days. If the water’s not getting better, you can use the pond vacuum to remove the dirts from the bottom. Hope this helps!
It’s quite natural for a pond to turn green. There are a number of causes of green pond water: too many fish, not enough filtration, not enough plants, water temperature and pond position. In this case, we didn’t have enough plants. It’s suggested that covering the pond's surface area with 40-60% plants will help to reduce excess nutrients, control algae blooms, and provide cover for the fish. You should check out our “Yard Landscaping” video, no more green water after we covered 2/3 of the pond surface with floating plants. Here’s the link ruclips.net/video/Ig1A-Plhys0/видео.html
Hi Mason! We use 4 in 1 Pond Filter System: the fountain, filtering, pumping, and lamp. Check out our “Garden Pond & Waterfall” video for more info about this filter system.
We only had this pond for few months and decided to expand to 10,000 gallons with 45 mil EPDM liner and underlayment, so we're not sure how long this liner would last.
You're absolutely right about the mosquito season, ponds can become the worst nightmare. Luckily, there are several ways to get rid of mosquitos naturally such as keep the water moving by simply adding an electric aeration pump or a fountain. Or curb the algae, when mosquitos hatch, they need a food source to boost their growth. Ponds are often ripe with thick layers of algae, which is great for a developing mosquito. By eliminating this food supply, you can keep mosquitoes away and also make your pond look cleaner and more aesthetically pleasing.
Your actual cost will depend on the materials & tools that you already have on hand but you can make this one really budget-friendly if you have a few bricks or patio pavers that you can repurpose
Hi Andile! If you are intending not to have any fish, you may choose not to have a filter. You will need plenty of plants, probably covering two thirds of the pond area. These plants, along with naturally occurring helpful bacteria in the pond, hopefully will provide a good natural balance and a clear pond. However, plants also add nutrients when they die. Algae grows best with high light and high nutrient levels. When the nutrients get high enough, the algae takes over the pond and chokes everything else out, hence why most people still opt for a filter of some kind.

amazing looking pond, and i also have a few questions, what is the length of the blocks you used and what was the length and width of the pond line😁
liner*
This pond is 11’ long, 4’ wide and 3.5’ deep. We use 20’ x 15’ pond liner.
The block is 4” x 8” x 16”
Great job bro
Thank you!
What was the white powder used?
Hi Quinton! It’s sand to protect the liner from damage.
3:51 where did you get that from pls
We got it from Amazon
Very nice and simple, the only thing I would change is to not make any shelfs in the pond. That way predators have no nothing to stand on.
Hi Jordan! We found the best way to deal with most predators is covering the pond with a fine net. It denies all animals access to the fishes and is relatively easy to find in stores and set up.
how did you hide the write and was there a filtration?
The filter/pump is located in the middle of the pond.
What about a drain or filtration system?
The filter is in the middle of the pond
What is that paste like stuff your putting on the dirt wall?
It’s molding clay, simply fix the break off parts of the wall as we want them nice and solid.
4:50 Could see you changed it later in the video but gonna say that fountain is too large for the pond, in the wind it'll blow water side ways and drain the pond daily.
by using a shorter tube and adjusting the spray pattern/flow rates, you can manage that risk

1000 US gallons or 3800 liter

There were some goldfishes

We currently don't have one. We'll make sure to let you know if we decide to have one. Thank you so much for the support!
Please do not put fish into a new pond that has not had time to develop biological filtration - it can be very harmful to the fish.
We treated and kept testing the water about a week to make sure it’s healthy before putting fish in our new pond
