Dude, I use two phones in my daily routine, the Android SmartPhone (Motorola), for home and office affairs, and an Alcatel Flip phone for street stuff, public transportation and field work. I prefer using the Flip phone's GPS whenever I'm searching for an address by walk or moving through crowded places, On the other hand, I use my Android SmartPhone's GPS, whenever I'm driving or doing longer trips, where listening to voice instructions is more recomended.
It has GPS but it's difficult to use. KaiOS needs to iron out their navigation app. Please use caution when buying a flip phone if GPS is important for you.
Thank you for this post. I have been looking into both of these phones. Also, I like the auto phone holder you use in this video for you flip phone. If you don’t mind me asking, what is it?
That particular one is an Uniden I got from Walmart, but there are many others from AliExpress and eBay. I looked up the Uniden one from Walmart but it's no longer available in store. If you type "Uniden phone holder" on Amazon you will get a long list of knockoffs products that pretty much do the same. AliExpress has the cheapest ones if you are willing to wait 3 weeks. If you need it quickly, Amazon is the best bet but you'll pay double the price, and if you don't have Prime you will pay for shipping too.
I have the 2780 Nokia.. I was hoping you would explain how to turn OFF, or at least stop maps pestering me with updates every other day on this phone; how to stop THAT, but of course still have regular google maps...
That's strange. I have both the 2760 and the 2780 and neither has asked me about any updates at all for maps or any other app. You might want to turn off app notices on SETTINGS / PERSONALIZATION / NOTICES / SHOW ON LOCK SCREEN and select NO. I can't think of anything else.
Part of the problem is that the guys that work on KaiOS don't seem to be trying enough. Another problem is that Nokia thinks that anybody that wants a flip phone somehow would rather use a 5 megapixel camera. They could make a good flip phone if they wanted to but they are not interested.
As far as navigation, I would say yes in particular if you look up businesses (e.g. restaurants, gas stations, etc) on Google maps, but that's only if you even want to bother with navigation on a flip phone. Some jurisdictions prohibit using an electronic device while driving, so that would further complicate things.
Best video on RUclips about google maps on dumbphones

How is it when you are walking places?
@@alohakat1148 I carry a money belt
This is really helpful thank you.
I hope they update with a turn by turn voice gps then I’d be sold
I just checked for updates and there is nothing new yet.
Still nothing yet. You have to pay attention to it more than you should be, I'll be putting a standalone gps back in my car
I am curious myself... If I can get gps on that flip phone, I'm buying it next year

@@skywind007 maybe I'll wait a year or two
Same brother.

How was the battery when using maps?
Can it zoom in to look up close at the streets and buildings?
Can you choose in google maps on the flip phones if you want to take public transit and does it give you the route?
Yes, Google Maps always has an option for public transit routes
Can you zoom in on the map for when you’re walking somewhere?

Does it update to abetter route for traffic?
Super helpful! Thanks!
Great video, thanks.
The flip phones with the most capabilities are just not enough to get me to go back to them.
I was hoping to move back to a smaller, simpler phone.

@@skywind007 I agree. Thank you for taking the time to reply.
Is this available in india alcatel
Thanks for the video
does is speak the directions?
No. It does not.
Does this mean that Alcatel is superior to Nokia 2760?

Can we install phonepay Or stuff?
No. There are apps that can be installed but they are mostly junk. There is no Google Play Store.
You need a navigator with you.
Yes. This flip phone will not be helpful at least in Texas where we are not allowed to operate electronic devices while driving.
@@skywind007 Much safer with a navigator so you can keep your eyes on the traffic.
@@reidmauldin3203 Correct. I would never risk it.
