Any respponses would be helpful. I am looking at a 2018 4runner SR5 Premium with around 26k miles. It had 1 owner. No accident. Numerous service records. Looks amazing. But is not certified. The asking price is $37k. Does this make sense? It seems like a good deal. If I were to purchase a new one it would be $6-7K more plus the higher tax on top. I have trade in equity for my BMW of $19-20K. I'm just not sure if 2018 even at those miles is the right thing to do. It's been years since I drove an SUV (Nissan Pathfinder in 2009) and am ready to get into a bigger vehicle. So the year of the vehicle and trying to determine if the 4runner will be a good daily driver. I drive only 5 miles or 12 minutes back and forth to work. Helpful comments are sought!

Its definitely a contender for my next vehicle. (only downside is i'd be cutting my mgp in half- driving a 2018 hyundai sonata now and loving it)
These were all reasons why I just bought one! I didn't go new though, I found a good deal on a 2013 Trail Edition, so I went with that. I love it so far, it's going to be an amazing vehicle.
moonlighter6 I second this !! Main reason I’m turned off from a Tacoma is mostly because they are built in Mexico now. I know that a Toyota is a Toyota but it was so neck and neck for me between the 4Runner and Tacoma that I went with the 4Runner simply because it’s Japanese made (most of them)
Because they are proven by time. Our 1997 4Runner Limited is still roadworthy with more than 350k miles. It lives in the Upper Midwest rust belt and not much rust underneath. It's the beater car when I want to leave it at long term parking at airport, go to Walmart ;-) , or drive during an ice storm (collisions) when I don't want to drive the 2013 Highlander Hybrid Limited or 2018 LX570.
There is a reason why you don't run with the back window down. As the wind passes over the top and under the truck will "vortex" up in into the window. You will get road debris inside the truck. Dirt, dust, things like that. The wind curls up when exiting the back of the vehicle and rolls right into the back of the truck. At least I think that's the case.
The 4Runner is due for a new design. I would think 2020 would be the year. Some things I would like to see are bigger info/Nav screen, and power seats for driver and passenger.
I agree the 4Runner is overdue for an update. I would like to see Toyota Safety Sense added as standard equipment like it is on all the other Toyota vehicles - and a front end re-style would be nice, too. In the meantime, I'm hanging onto my trusty 2004 4Runner Sport 4.7 V8 that I bought 15 years ago.
4Runners are for old school folks who don’t need a huge TV as their radio. I don’t understand the need for any more than what it is already. I personally don’t need anything more techy than a 4Runner. And power seats? It’s just a gimmick
I can’t brag about the 4runner’s bullet proof reliability enough, i swear if you’re in the store for a new runner, DON’T hesitate, my ‘04 still running to this day (390k km) and the only “major” thing i’ve done to it, is the spark plugs.
Really good review. Is the 2 wheel drive 4 Runner front or rearwheel drive? I don't need a 4 wheel drive but if the 2 wheel dr. is rear it'd be tricky to drive in fowl weather.
The only reason I own our 2005 4Runner is for towing our 4,500 lb. boat/trailer. But Toyota eliminated the V8 and lowered the towing capacity years back. So while I really like the 4Runner it's off my list for a new SUV.
It would be nice to see a bit of a change with the 4Runner I have 2013 limited 4Runner and it still looks the same it can be hard to spot the differences

@@埼玉はぱ , I watch all the off-road videos and find Toyota's and Jeep's doing all the hard stuff. I like comfort, style, features, and a great ride, so I bought a Honda Ridgeline. The Ridgeline is wonderful but it can't do serious off-road. I don't do off-road. I don't even like getting my vehicles dirty. Have a great day.
I love my T4R Limited but this "review" was very messy. It sounded like you where reading off a spec sheet while not applying the specs to the car pictured. For example, "available sensors" makes it sound like an option. They're not. they are on the limited only and no other trims. 7 seats is also a Limited only item. That one is an option. You could have noted that the limited has a different appearance with 20" rims and permanent 4wd where as other specs are all 2wd with selectable 4wd and 4w low on 17" rims. The meatiness of the rubber varies with trim as well.. Sorry, but not the best review. You could do better.

@@endocry you must have short legs and long torso

It’s an SUV in a world where SUVs are being limited by manufacturers
Thanks Dave 😎
So I guess this may be as close to a model 70 Land Cruiser we can buy in the States?
2019 Toyota has front sensors?
Dave - Thanks for this solid review of 1 of my fav "sleeper" vehicles = the 4Runner. I put more trust in your balanced and informative reviews of trucks / crossovers / SUV's - - keep up the great work :-) :-)
One of the best suv i loved it in my country i afford 4runner for 40k dollars but here on cars extra 400% tax and its go up to 160k plus which is a unaffordable so i use old Toyota car and cant go offroad...
Good video, we just bought the highlander 2019 I know no comparison.
That being said same engine. Any one watching do your homework. We got a limited 46.152 Sticker 8 grand off Yes 38.335.00 out the door. Do you work it pays off .

Hi, I'm just started looking into these trucks & like them more & more- Can you help me out a bit and point me in the right direction to start doing research on prices? Did you ever use Edmunds, Which sites did you use, etc ? - Thanks in advance for any help. Enjoy the new ride!!!
Cant wait for a Toyota Tacoma Diesel
Nice video ! Was helpful and informative.
I have vivid memory of that pond!
When will you be reviewing the 2019 rav4?
@Old man GoatThat is good to know, thank you. I've had my Tacoma since November 2005. Never had a problem and 145k miles. Test drove a rav4 hybrid today and have decided to get one. Waiting for the right one/color
Are the 4 runners body on frame?
Yes
No they’re frame under body
Subscribed my dude
Excellent
Even ice ponds! Wink,wink,
common!!! that is the exact comment I was going to make!!!
Nothing wrong with getting the 4Runner a little wet haha. Not sure why Toyota wasn't happy haha.
@@mtt3870 I was actually quoting what he had said @1:00 lol
@@NaijaBoiTellEm ya? imagine that was your 4runner getting trashed :)
@@robertktw Haha I don't think it was that bad but I understand why Toyota was less than happy.
Hey man, great review.
Is it possible to instal third row into offroad model??
no
Limited only.
10 Reasons NOT to buy a 4Runner:
#1: Stiff Ride Quality
#2 Below-Average Fuel Economy
#3: Aging Interior
#4: Small Infotainment Screen
#5: Lackadaisical Handling
#6: Subpar Safety Scores
#7: Some Important Features Not Available
#8: Lacks Driving Aids
#9: Ungraceful entry/exit into/out The Car
#10: Android Auto/Apple Car Play not included
Well guys, if you want to off-road with this car, consider choosing a more efficient choice, such as the Jeep Grand Cherokee or the Honda Passport. My job is done!
Will 2020 get apple carplay? 9 speed auto and v6 turbo?
Yes it will get Apple car play but no to the rest. Beyond the infotainment upgrade and safety sense don't expect any other changes for the 2019.
I have a 2002 SR with about 250,000 miles. I think I worn the wheels off it.
LOL
Can you get me a discount if I buy one?
Dave, what does the "TRD" stand for?
Toyota racing development
Dave's not here man.
Sounds like our 2018 4Runner is not obsolete due to 2019 improvements lol
Stuart Stuart LOL I'm betting it will be 2021 before the next gen is released.
Look up 2018 Toyota Fortuner
This is what the 4Runner SHOULD turn into in the years to come
I don't know why Toyota is struggling to redesign it, or bring the Fortuner here
That would be a great design to bring to The States. The 4Runner is selling a ton, but needs a major redesign
I hope not. It’s ugly
The Future Is Here
4Runner has the more power and I think the chassis is different. Fortuner is good but 4Runner is tougher.
@@Agent.K. Uhhhhh......you can put whatever power you want into a vehicle. You're trying to miss the point. EVERY truck Toyota makes is tough. America 4Runner are no tougher than foreign Land Cruiser Prados or Fortuners. That's dumb!
@@maddog8148 I've seen it in person, overseas, and it looks amazing. Overseas, they sell 4Runners right next to Fortuners, and the Fortuner crushes the 4Runner in style. It makes it look 10 years old.....because it is!
The Future Is Here
No tougher than LandCruiser and Prado? Definitely yes. LC is the best all. The fortuner is good and tough but it’s one level below. Poor man’s Prado. It’s made in Thailand not japan.
The closest thing to the 4Runner is the Fj in terms of build quality and strength. Prado is a bit higher, fortuner is a bit lower. But it’s only my opinion...
I don't like the old styling front lights and rear tail-lights. That said, it is a Toyota and a good value.
If you are not doing off-road, I like the Honda Pilot and Passport better.
Selling my 2001 4Runner with the 3.4 automatic 4wd. I need a pickup
