I’m struggling with foiling (newbie) so I’m glad I found this video. Simon, I’d like to recommend using the Swiffer dry dusting sheet instead of a brush for dusting your cardstock surface and foil instead of a brush. The sheets are like a magnet for dust (and glitter, etc) whereas the brush might release dust or particles that it grabbed beforehand. ;-)
Our Nancy is just the BEST! Such a great video for learning to do the basic of foiling. I learned so much from her a while ago. I was so depressed when I started foiling and was using a laminator and didn't know what I was doing. That doesn't happen with the Minc and especially dusting! :))). Thank you Simon and Nancy.
I like the double foiling butterflies the best! I did my first foil last night and learned so much from this video about my mistakes. Thank you so much!
Checking out Nancy... She seems fun! Gotta get some toner sheets! I didn't know why some of my foiled stuff didn't cover well.. Now I do! Thanks for the info!!!
Simon.. How did I miss this video!! So I bought a Glimmer two years ago and tried everything to be succesful. Epic Fail. It sat collecting dust. Then I was cruising through your channel and found this video. Nancy Rocks. I went to her page and watched her video's OMG Game changer. Why has a company not picked her up and given her a line????? She has a great personality too and to listen to her voice she is adorable. Thank you so much for having her on. I think it's time to invite her back too! Have an awesome Sunday :)
I have a foil quill and find I have so many little scraps and bits from in and around designs.. Thank you so much both of you for giving me so many other options to get the most out of my foil.
That was fun to watch. I’ve watched Nancy Stamps many times in the past. I’ve been trying to not buy any machines or gizmos until I find the right one for me. Nancy uses the Gemini foiling unit also which is also kewl. My thought about that right now is that you have to buy the dies. I understand some dies you have will also work, but I’ve recently purchased the gel to try. I’m leaning towards the smaller minc, but I’m going to play with the gel by itself for a little while first. Great idea on the new series. Looking forward to it.
I find that I am behind the times in that I haven’t invested in any stencils or in foiling machines or products. I don’t know where to start without having to invest a lot of money so this was helpful.
Thank you Simon & Nancy for the foiling tips. I learned so much!! Had no idea you could double foil, neato! (70's saying:) I LOVED all of them. Never knew toner sheets were available, dusty dusty technique & not to use pixie spray were great takeaways from today's tutorial. TFS
Love seeing you both together crafting! My kids now know where I get the "dusty dusty" saying from! Love the foiling of the waste and then double foiling! Thanks for all your inspiration!
I used a honeycomb die with the Duo gel and gold foil. Turned out GREAT! So if you have a die that has larger holes, it may be a candidate for the Duo gel. The hardest part is letting the gel dry completely!
Watching the 4 Love Nancy. She is fantastic. A great crafters mentor. Well done Nancy and Simon, you work well together. Nancy needs a Ranger tour if you can coordinate that please.
Cool video, Simon & Nancy! Thanks very much... I have a laminator, so I need to get moving on learning to use it. Nancy, thanks for the tips! I love the way Sweater Weather and the butterflies came out! I also loved the acetate that came out with blue, gold and silver as well as the Gina K design and the one from Unity. Thanks for teaching me "Dusty, dusty!" Thanks also for teaching about using the acetate double. Never saw/heard that before. Nancy, I will check you out since this was my first time seeing you!
I love seeing how to foil, especially without heat. Everything seems to be heat foiling. I feel there is less error when you aren't depending on heat. I've bought many foil colors and I've been afraid to use them. You're videos make things look so easy!
OMG...thank you so much for doing this video‼️ I have an Iris case filled with foil because I refuse to throw them away thinking that there is something I could do with them. Now I have to purchase some transfer gel, a brush, a spatula and get busy with my foil❣️
I learned a lot in that. Love the double foiling. I'll have to get my Minc out of the pile in the corner. I bought it and used it a couple of times, that didn't turn out so great and I just put it back in the box and forgot about it. Now I can really start to use it! Thanks so much Simon and Nancy. Fabulous collab.
I bought the mini mink at Tuesday morning, still have not used it because I could not figure it out, I don't have a printer that uses toner and the instructions were useless. Paid under 20.00 and thought it would be fun. Thanks for the instructions
F A N T A S T I C !!! I learned so much from you two! I’ve spent so much time searching for foiling videos and here was everything I needed to know between this video and Simon’s unboxing of the Spellbinders Glimmer machine and his maiden voyage(s). Thank you to you both!
Finally get to see Nancy’s face! Great tips. I totally would have Pixie sprayed my stencil. Matt side up on acetate and Dusty, dusty! How about tips and tricks for Gemini foil press next. TFS
So much information!! How about a post-it note on the top of the Minc machine, "Dusty Dusty?" It might help us all remember. ;) My favs were the double foiling and the tape!! Great video colab!
Thank you both for doing this awesome video. I love to foil and it was Nancy Stamps who taught me! She is a great teacher! Hope you both do more collabs together in the future.
Hi am just new to crafting have never crafted before and would love to use the foils on my cards but am not sure what foil goes for the heat version and what foil for no heat also not sure what stencils can be used for the heat foiling would love to know so i can get started. Many thanks Donna from northern Ireland.
I know this is an older video but I would love to see how you use these on cards. I hope that makes sense. I learned from this video not to use embossing tool. That’s what I’ve been using. 🤦♀️ great video! This
I was really sure about the differences between the transfer gel and transfer gel duo. Is the regular transfer gel only used in heat methods? And the the duo used in both heat and cold methods?
Dusty Dusty (if you watched... you know ;)!

@@Kyomiibrown great idea!
Loved seeing the ‘foiling waste’ sheets used! And the double foiled...WOW!! Could you do similar with double sided adhesive sheets??
@@Mari-cre8s yes!

Dusty Dusty... I put this all over my notes! I think I will always remember this. Now... I have to get my Minc out of the drawer and use it!
Great foiling it was nice seeing you and Nancy together again.
Awesome Simon to showcase other experts! Loved seeing these foiling ideas
Giving me the courage to give it a try. Thanks Simon and Nancy

Fabulous video! We just sold our house and everything went to storage time to make a trip to try to find my minc ! 😉🤣🤣🤣
I never knew you had to use a duster. Great stuff
Good demo.TY
Thank you for the great tips! I’m just starting to use foil so I appreciate the help. I’m headed right over to Nancy Stamps to subscribe! 😊
I know this is an older video but I would love to see how you use these on cards. I hope that makes sense. I learned from this video not to use embossing tool. That’s what I’ve been using. 🤦♀️ great video!
This
Could you use the deck foil like on a stamp pad to stamp with and then foil like for words
Hi Ann. Good question. There is not a stamping product at this time for foiling that comes out smooth.
This was great! What is the stencil that Nancy used in the beginning? With the large uneven dots? Thank you.
Brutus Monroe dots
Simon Hurley also has a very similar one to that called Bubble Wrap, just for your GFOK (general fund of knowledge).
Great video. Thank you both.
GREAT TIPS!! Thanks y'all!!
I was really sure about the differences between the transfer gel and transfer gel duo. Is the regular transfer gel only used in heat methods? And the the duo used in both heat and cold methods?
Yup! That’s the difference... the first duo gel is only used with heat. The duo is a new formulation that can use heat or pressure. :)
Which type of foil did you use with the duo medium ? I’ve always thought you had to use different types of foil for hot and cold foiling .
What are you putting down first to get the foil to stick to?
Deco Foil Transfer Gel Duo in the stencils.
Fabulous tips! Thanks heaps.
