Wish there were more Fridays in the week so there would be more of your shows. I sure enjoy your videos.. I will be telling my brothers about your channel.. have a great weekend.😁
Very nice Steve. Your video tutorials are always encouraging. Thank you for the time and effort you put into these woodworking videos. I am always inspired by your work.
LOVE this video! I have been wanting a hanging pot rack for a while and am excited to try and make one! Thank you for sharing and thank you for the free plans! I love how gentle you are with you Feline Friend!
another great video Steve, always enjoy yours because you make mistakes and show them and also how you put them right, it makes us lesser skilled mere mortals feel better about our own inadequacies lol have a great weekend!
I like the industrial look mixed with that gorgeous wood. Great combination! And using the fully threaded rods probably helps keep the S hangers from sliding constantly. Another great project!
Looks Great Steve, saves space in the cabinets , and the Wood Finish is Awesome for Pens, I stopped using CA Glue finish for pens, and use Doctors Woodshop Pens Plus as well
love all your stuff steve like the way you talk thru and the fact your a down to earth guy.. one other thing i thought id "microjig sorry just came out
I used to rent a house that was falling apart. but two things made the kitchen look like a million bucks, one was a hanging rack for the pots and pans, the other was an island with bar chairs stools on the other side. It's surprising how just a few small things can distract you from a house that the roof is leaking, the decks falling apart, and the landscaping is overgrown, and the house is infested with yellow jackets. But boy, that hanging pot rack looks cool. Thanks Steve for another good video !!! You rock !
Nice! The ingredients to that finish sound more like a finish for turned objects - like pens. The alcohol and wax would give a nice polished finish when applied with a lot of friction as in while turning on a lathe. But there's nothing wrong with using it on this project though.
I always watch your videos Steve. On another note I have not made anything, I almost did once. But I love this cause I hate moving pots around in cabinets... You can hear when someone is about to cook anything in my home.
Another great project as usual Steve. You could just use a piece of the stock against the stop block on your cross-cut sled to set the width of the lap joints.
Przemek Dobrowolski Maybe, but ensure the cookware doesn't slide to the middle. You should fix those hangers permanently to the rope somehow or make a grid and have just one item for a grid square.
I learned this about saw blades to determine if it is sharp or really needs sharpening. Carbide will cut when red hot however it is very brittle. Blades will gum up with sap and resins and will cut as a dull one will. if you can scratch your fingernail with the tip of a blade tooth your blade is not dull. So what to do? My sharpening company has to clean the saw blade before sharpening here is what you can do as a regular person. Buy oven cleaner from the grocery store and a 12 inch pizza pan and a cheap long handle vegetable cleaning brush. Place the blade in the pizza pan and spray on the oven cleaner and let sit for 10 minutes then scrub the blade with the brush. I suggest you wear dishwashing gloves. Flip the blade and clean the opposite side. Conpletely dry the blade and put back on the saw and I assure you it will cut like new!
Great video Steve. Enjoy watching your videos every Saturday morning here in Australia. My wife wants a hanging pot rack in our new house we are building so might see if she wants me to build it :)
I believe that those "mistakes" are made deliberately to show us the newbies that they are not the end of the world and can always be repaired and we shouldn't quit so easy.
Hope you see this. When you chamfered the ends it added a nice touch. Adding the chamfer to the long edges also adds to the appearance however, to finish the look you also have to chamfer the cross edges where the separate pieces are joined. I have updated my copy of your Sketch-up drawing to reflect this change and could post it in Sketch-up online drawings but only if you would allow it. I am doing my own version done slightly different. Three cross rails, short pieces at 14,5", two long rails at 27.5" with 1.5" overhang/extension and 5 all-thread rods on 2" centers mounted in bottomed holes on the ends so no hardware will be needed. Only two screws will hold the center rail to the cross rails from the top so not visible and four hook eyes mounted on the inside ends of the long rails but outside the side rails. Chain will slide over the eye and then rotate it 90 degrees to lock in the chain end. Hope that all makes sense. Trying to have as little hardware visible as possible. I liked your design and hope you would like to see your updated chamfered drawing. Sketch-up was a bit twitchy when trying to make the chamfers but I managed to fix it manually. Follow tool was also most helpful.
When sanding the burn marks on the small edge, try to clamp all pieces together. Sanding this way it's easier to keep a right angle with the orbit sander!
good looking and functional piece! you really piled them on to it too.... The finish looks interesting, is it like most pen finishes where it needs to be "polished" to get it up to a shine?
Awesome project, think i might give this a shot. As far as hanging the rack, did you locate the hooks on ceiling joists/studs, or just hang it wherever you wanted? I know skillets aren't generally that heavy, just thinking the combined weight of a dozen how strong just the wallboard/drywall is to support that weight.
That turned out great ! Suggestion : hand plane edges. Saves ur lungs and leaves that smooth as glass look. I look fwd to my Friday's watching your new ideas .
the walnut and threaded rod give a cool look - good job man
Wow, that finish really made the walnut pop! Great job as always Steve!
That's a good looking pot rack! Thanks for showing your humanity with mistakes and reminding us that we aren't the only ones who slip up!
Very, Very, Nice . I like the dark woods when it comes to in-home projects.
Very nice project. This finishing product looks great. Thank you for sharing. Thanks to MicroJig for sponsoring the show.

I am going to make one using all Stainless Steel Hardware & I am using cap nuts or acorn nuts on the end of the all thread.
I rly love this project! I must have watched it over 10 times by now!!!
always an inspiration
also the reason I have somewhat ambient techno music in my head while i'm woodworking.
Yet another project that I would love to take on! Thanks Steve.

The funny thing is, I was thinking of making a lot rack yesterday! Thank you for making it easy for me!!
I'm feeling a bit under the weather, so I'm gonna take Steve's advice and cook up a pot of Microjig.
Another great project. Unfortunately I have 8' ceilings and a small kitchen. Thanks Steve!
Wow, a master craftsman! 👍🏻
Amazing finish.
Cool project Steve! Looks great
Another great project as usual Steve. You could just use a piece of the stock against the stop block on your cross-cut sled to set the width of the lap joints.
Awesome design!
If you want a more 'finished' look you can use cap nuts. It would require more precisely cut threaded rods however.
Beautiful work !!!!
is micro jig Gluten free? Low Carb?
I love how you have your cat Kitty in the videos :)
Nice project. Wish I had the room for a hanging pot rack.
Check out the tiny hanging pot racks
Looks great Steve. I love using both metal and wood in projects. Well done. Douglas
Also, what no Metallica? Awe man!
i think, insted of rod, rope also work great. Awesome Pot Rack!
