  • Lilac - Syringa
"Lilac, or Syringa as it is called in Latin, is a subfamily of the Oleaceae plant family, consisting of woody plants with fragrant flowers, that can be seen in tree or shrub form. Lilac, which has 25 different known species, is thought to originate from southeastern Europe to western Asia. It is a plant species that is generally seen in forests and shrub lands in a wide geography. Its closest relative is privet, or Ligustrum, which is another popular flowering shrub species. It is not related to butterfly bush, or "Philadelphus" species, which have fragrant flowers."
