Well done Deb, jumpsuit will be perfect for new place. I love the design of the jumpsuit Deb. And I think you may need to make a pair for gardening at your new place for lovely Roses or veggies. I will be jealous as I won’t have a garden in my next place next August.

Thanks Venora, I hope the jumpsuit works out, I’m eager to see how it looks in the denim. Have a great sewing week, Deb 🪡🧵💕

Lovely video Deb, great content. I love to hear all your tips and ideas too. They’re not scraps they’re offcuts and short lengths ! 😊
I can really understand your getting distracted from packing by sewing - no contest 😄 Have a really good week Deb..…. Now, where are those packing cases ……😂😂 xx

Thanks Shelly, glad you’re enjoying the tips. I know who throws away fabric 😱. I will have to seriously pack soon, but not the sewing room yet 🤣🤣. Have a great sewing week, Deb 🪡🧵💕

Your overall will look great, Deb, and they should be so comfy to wear. Looking forward to seeing them finished.
Men they just don't get it. 😂

Hi Libby, yes men don’t get it, apparently it’s just fabric 🤦‍♀️. The overalls look better than I thought they would, so it will be interesting in the denim, hopefully I get the wear out of them. Have a great sewing week, Deb 🪡🧵💕

Hi Deb, I love how your pajamas have turned out - what a brainwave. I am sure they will be lovely PJ’s to wear. 😊 I have a dress I don’t particularly like and following on from your idea, will now cut some PJ shorts out of that. I will be most interested to see how your jumpsuit turns out and I think the material you have chosen is lovely. Happy sewing.🌸

Hi Julie, the fabric for the pjs is such beautiful and soft fabric it should be ideal for a lovely summer pj set, I’m glad I have inspired you to upcycle an unused item into something you will wear. Viewers are divided on the jumpsuit but it looks better than I thought so I’m giving it a go, I could always turn it into pants if I don’t live them. Have a great sewing week Deb 🪡🧵💕

Great tip re interfacing both sides of a collar stand- will definitely use that. So good to recycle garments - note to self- must do more of it!! I find it hard because it can take a long time to do properly and all the time my fabrics and patterns are calling out to me.😅. Good Luck with the packing. I had to stop sewing 2 weeks before my move but started again just over 2 weeks after we moved in. It was such a joy to finally switch off from all the boxes and lose myself in my own space. Looking forward to seeing the final result with the dungarees. 😊 Lynne

Thanks Lynne, yes recycling can take a lot of time, I think you have to really want to save the fabric, in this case I did. The only things I have donated at this stage are ready to wear, so not much culling going on. I don’t know if I could go 4 weeks without sewing, but I do have my knitting as I need to do something arty or crafty. It is a switch off from everything else around you to sew or do craft I agree, have a great sewing week, Deb 🪡🧵💕

I have that same fabric in my stash that you remade into a shirt. I was also thinking of a shirt dress. Interesting. I did wonder if it would be too much of a print too. I love the fabric too.

Hi Brigitte I do really love the fabric but as a dress it just wasn’t doing it for me, it sort of looked frumpy, like it was for an older person, like my Nanna would wear, I think that is why I didn’t like it, hopefully as a shirt I will get some wear out of it. Have a great sewing week, Deb 🪡🧵💕

Hi Deb. Lovely content as usual. Great to see the upcycling of your garments that are not working for you. What pattern and fabric do you use for your turtle necks please? I really need some of these in my wardrobe and yours always look so lovely.....Good luck packing.....it will be all worthwhile in the end. Happy sewing 😃😃

Thanks Susan, I use The Trudy Turtleneck by Wardrobe By Me and a Merino Wool for the fabric, it uses 1.25 metres so not cheap, but the wash up really well and certainly have stood the test of time, back to packing. Have a great sewing week, Deb 🪡🧵💕

Lovely fabric on the blue paisley transformation. Will be interesting to see the overalls in your final make. Hope that packing is coming along. I’m assuming you are moving from the burbs in Melbourne to a Victorian country town. Throwing out fabric 😂 😅 what is he thinking!

Hi Cat, yes the blue paisley was too nice not to wear, hopefully I will get some wear out of it as a shirt. Yes moving from the burbs to St Arnaud in Victoria, about 3 hours from Melbourne, on with the packing. Have a great sewing week, Deb 🪡🧵💕

Hi Deb. Your posts are always fun & interesting and educational. May I ask why you are block fusing to the denim? And will you be facing with the denim? Or something lighter?

    • @dbdesignsandsewingaustrali5668
      @dbdesignsandsewingaustrali5668  3 месяца назад +1

Hi Anne, I always block fuse if I have enough fabric as sometimes the facing becomes smaller when applying the interfacing, so if I block fuse the facing piece is exactly the size it is supposed to be. I will be facing with the denim as it is only medium weight and I have enough of the fabric to use as the facing. Have a great sewing week, Deb 🪡🧵💕

Sorry re: overalls: I do not like them on you. Would be a shame to use the beautiful green denim on the outfit. You make such beautiful clothes. I suggest a jacket or pants.....both if you have enough fabric. The shirt from the dress: When I am in that situation I cover the inside with silk. Now that your shirt is already made you would have to do it by hand. Love the luxury of the silk. do all of my shirt collars that way. Love the fabric in the shirt. Normally I like your garments and enjoy seeing the fit and your explanation of all the "fixes". You are great with your sewing craft.

Thanks Joan, the denim is beautiful quality, I only fave 2 metres I’ll have to see what I can get out of them, although I did think the overalls looked better than I thought they would. I love the shirt fabric I wanted to use it, but you’re right I could have lined it. I think when I do the shirt collar with the stand as one next time I will use a heavier interfacing, what weight interfacing do you usually use? Have a great sewing week, Deb 🪡🧵💕
