Honestly, I consider King Slime to be one of the tougher Infernum pre hardmode bosses. Some enemies have more defense? I can see that being an issue, given summon weapons and a lot of Calamity weapons being low damage and rapid hitting (though some weapons get buffs and armor penetration is a thing) Yes, a lot of the Infernum bosses are very tanky. What's even crazier is that the madman Cataclysmic Armageddon was fighting the bosses with Master Mode stats. Much respect to him. Slow and steady is the best strategy for some of the bosses. Wall of Flesh is one of my favorite Infernum fights, especially given that I hate vanilla and base calamity's Wall of Flesh.
One more thing, I forgot to mention at one point, the archerfish did get nerfed to have a base damage of 9. That's right, NINE. Although it had a speed boost, it was barely any stronger than the minishark DPS wise, and it only pierces one target. As of the "From The Ashes" update, the archerfish's damage was increased to 16, and I say it's a solid buff.
I did myself a favour by combining Infernum and Stars Above on my first Infernum playthrough. The buffs you get from the Stellar Array make Infernum a lot easier. Unfortunately, I'm starting to face the downsides now, as I'm on my second Infernum run, this time without Stars Above, and I cannot for the life of me get through Old Duke
just skip him and come back later with shadowspec weapons. that polished turd that the infernum devs have the audacity to call a boss doesn't deserve to be fought fairly, since its such a dogshit fight.
Extra acessories slots. Having a slot for both my shield, boots and wings may be cheating but I couldn't care less, the fights become much more dynamic and I can play around a bit more with my builds
Love how obsessed everyone is with infernum. What a sick mod. Really turns it up for calamity but I wish it was multiplayer compatible. My duo was really turned off of it around the providence fight. :( Also fun fact, there's no such thing as over-preparing in infernum :)
@@itoaster__besides the fact that the sepulcher in the scal fight is invincible and the exo mechs are extremely glitchy with most combinations essentially making infernum multiplayer compatible up until the last 2 fights
@@vaz_the_goob for me exo mechs is fine with the exception of ares who has a couple kinks but i can still beat them and sepulcher has never been invincible for me.
@@itoaster__ spulcher was unkillable in multiplayer for me, and if you choose ares then apollo/artemis ares dual laser continues firing after he resets above you for the apollo and artemis spin attack so you cant avoid the damage from his lazer, although it could have been a connection or server issue

i hated using bows as a ranger main most of the mods i play i dont use bows but hwen i was sturggling with my friend tryna fight calamity yharon (no infernum) i realized i needed only 1 accesorry to switch to bows and i did.. we beat him first try

I only died to the hive mind once and a lot to queen bee, deerclop, skeletron and the slime god so far. The others bosses before them I first tried every single one, even the enraged crimson bosses.
I recently finished my very first playthrough of Infernum (which also is my first playthrough of Calamity too) as Ranger and I can certainly agree of it feeling underpowered. It didn't feel too bad in Pre-Hardmode until like, Slime God. But then there's Hardmode where bosses like Golem took a literal eternity to kill for some bizarre reason.
Man, infernum WoF is truly such an upgrade from base version, feels like such a fun fight now, and an actual challenge rather than spamming beenades or other cheese strats to get past how boring it feels
Entertaining, just like the true melee playtrough. And this one had more monents that made me laugh/smile. Perfectly balanced playtrough, I can't wait for part 2. 🎉👌 (GIT GUD)

I highly recommend rope for climbing the sky if you dont have grav potions. Tons of it in early game, and its super easy to place & ascend at the same time

Own a musket for home defense because that is what the founding fathers intended, 3 ruffians break into my house. I blow a golf ball sized hole in the first switch to my pistol but miss and nails the neighbors dog because it is smooth bore. Move to the top of the stairs where my cannon loaded with grapeshot fire and successfully defend my house from 3 ruffians.
Prehardmode really restricts creativity when designing boss movesets, especially if its balanced around vanilla progression, which means they're either too easy or too hard depending on the mobility items and damage and that exact issue leaks onto Calamity itself and other mods and there's not really a good solution for the problem that doesn't involve giving insane mobility items and tools that break the games balance completely, i mean, just look at Fargo's mod and their insane pre hardmode AND hardmode accesories to compensate for eternity mode's reworks

I recommend looking for the onyx drill mount. It’s useful from very early game, and all the way to the very end.

Since one of the 1.4 updates Gladiator armor got changed to have knockback immunity. Afaik it's the only pre skeletron source of knockback immunity.
