    Hi Anna! I started watching your videos a few weeks ago and you really inspired me to start playing chess. I already knew how to move the pieces, but you showed how fun it can be playing. I think the best advice you gave in one of your videos was to "not" study chess if you are a beginner, but simply play the game. This completely changed my approach of how I saw chess, because I could focus on having fun and then naturally learn openings and strategies when I'm interested along the way. My rating is 500 and I have a loose goal of reaching 1000, but no deadlines. I think the (rather extreme) Tyler example shows how people can improve (sometimes very fast) when they dedicate themselves to a task they find enjoyable, which is a nice perspective.
    Maybe now I will give the cow opening a try! ^^

    @9:30 What I like about this posotion is that Tyler has pressure on the half open f file, the c file he has a pawn supported by a rook ans rhe d file a pawn supported by a queen. The minor pieces are also well placed for attacking purposes. Black is rather passive with the knight as the best active piece which is an enditement as it is the most advanced piece on c6 blockading an advanced pawn.

    i was shocked, seeing randomly recommended video from another channel titled something like "Tyler1 to GM!", where he is ~1960 already. i never watched chess or T1 videos on youtube either. so.. imagine my shock when i watched that video knowing t1 as LoL player only
    fun fact, T1 accounts were banned from LoL multiple times for toxic behaviour, and he got eventually permabanned with no possibility to play on any new account ever.
    he apologised with tears and stuff said he cannot leave without LoL and promised to behave well. LoL authorities gave him final chance and he kept his word, even was invited to offline championships as commentator and as player in fun modes matches. i think serves as biggest example of player's true redemption ever since

    i've been playing the cow opening for 1 month, went from 510 to 1088, its a very comfy opening to play, the atks comes later but it comes wild and it seems that no one has something prepared against it, when it seems that you're losing it, you start wining, its awesome

    • @lucasmatsuoca
      @lucasmatsuoca 7 месяцев назад +1

      just by not hangging any piece on the first 10 moves, you are increasing your chances to win the game against anyone sub 1000 by a significant margin. And also the way to punish these passive systems is not a fashion tatic or an immediately K.O. move, is just a slow build up, positional chess, and space domination, thing that only players up 2000 starts to get good at. So yeah, it's a good opening the only downside is that you won't learn chess theory, which is absolutely mandatory at 2100+, and neither win quickgames by punishing other people opening mistakes. But on the other hand you accidentally learn how to punish overextended positions.

    • @grgjsp
      @grgjsp 7 месяцев назад

      @lucasmatsouca totally accurate. It’s been a comfortable opening for me because at this point I know I can get to the first 10 moves without any real threats. After that it’s very likely my opponent ends up blundering before I do, and then it’s all about spotting opportunities for attack. I just hit 1000 and will hopefully continue to climb. Don’t think I’m ever even aiming to get to 2k

      Yeah, it's totally fine to play these openings unless you have really high goals with chess, like FM title and beyond. Even then, you can just change your approach to a more serious system like the London system or even the hippo system.

      @@user-mm9ve4le6m in chess “theory” means “opening theory” which is the knowledge around the most well known openings. To give an example, usually 2 high level player will play “theory”, in other words, moves that other players have already played before, until someone make a new move, where we often call it a “novelty”.
      There is no theory around the cow system, and probably there will never be, because no high level player will play it seriously due to it being objectively too bad.

    I rather say he now should start learning openings, soon players will know how to refute his opening or play positionally well enough to outplay him.
    Once again he is aggressive player which is not significantly favoured in cow until opponent instigates your position.

    🤔 Gotta explore the cow now. I love the idea of an opening that your opponent can't stop you from doing. Too many variations in the openings is what always gave me trouble. especially as black when you can't even dictate the first move.

    I feel like T1 would be a lot happier overall playing chess than League.
    Also, the cross over here with online gaming is incredibly smart, Anna. There's a reason you dominate the chess entertainer space for sure. Love your content.

    Tyler1's Journey truly is incredible. My Highlight was when he was at around 1400, just like me, and we randomly hat a match against each other in the rapid pool. I'm really happy because I managed to beat him with a high accuracy and a brilliant sacrifice and another great rook sacrifice in the endgame.
    I would have been really sad if Tyler1 managed to beat me hahaha

    Tyler1 is a very talented learner. He literally reached challenger in League playing every role in the game. For those who don’t play League this is absolutely insane and probably never done before. I genuinely believe he can become GM if he actually gets serious in this game.

      You hbave no idea how hard being a true GM is lmfao, maybe if he started when he was 5, it's literally far to late for him to hit GM and he never, ever will. 2000 maybe, GM never.

    i started with 500 and played only couple weeks and im already close to 1k. im beating bots on 3lvl (hardest with no help) with 1300 - 1500 elo, so i think soon ill reach that too. but im not using cow opening tho and im not so sure if i ever will. i know only 2 openings at this moment - london for white and cicilian for black. im just getting really low amount of elo now if i win and the grind is real slow now :(

    Tenía un 47% de winrate en 44 partidas en lichess. No me sabía ninguna apertura. Simplemente hacía lo que me parecía movimiento a movimiento. Desde que comencé a usar la cow opening literalmente llevo una racha de 15 victorias seguidas y he alcanzado mi rating más alto hasta la fecha. Creo que lo que hace que la apertura sea "buena" es que es diferente a lo que los novatos solemos hacer. La gente no sabe como reaccionar y hace blunders a punta pala.
