I retired from the USAF last year. Used to race 1/10 Bolinks and Losi JRX cars at the local hobby shop when I was a kid, even bought a Traxxas Hawk when the truggy's were starting to be cool. Bought a bunch of used junk off ebay and been messing around with Xrays and TLR in 1/8 and 1/10. I doubt I'll race for a while but your channel has been informative. I might buy a TLR 8ight truggy and see how I like it. Keep up the good work.
Good to see you back Ryan 👍🏻 You're by far one of the most interesting, down-to-earth and, most importantly, FUN content makers I've found to date. All the very best from the UK 🇬🇧
Fantastic to have you back. Love your content. You make anything RC interesting. Always tickles me as to how self effacing you are about your skills etcetera! You are so very knowledgeable and a superb driver - wish I had a small percentage of your talent 😊 Good fortune in your next 8th event.
Also the 17.5 v2 with the inclines really help the front end make sure you move the link on the tower 1 up from the middle and put 2 or 3 mm spacers to help the link straighten out from hub to tower. To get the bump steer correct I put 3mm spacer for ackerman and 2mm out at steering blocks. Get the "b plates" also. It's crazy all the money you have to put into pretty much a new platform to get it to run somewhat smoothly. I run the 2.0 myself. If you have any questions I can definitely help you out. Get the aluminum rear hums and get the carbon b plates for that also. Shock setup, the typical setup= for pistons front just put and extra .9-1mm hole making it 5×1.5 and 1.0. For the rear get the 5×1.5 taper pistons and drill one of the holes to 1.9. I also run HB springs. Hope that helps out!
Good to see you back. I’m inspired to start my 1/8 scale racing, finally. Anything that helps you stay young is great. Like when I said to my Mum (Mom) as a kid. “When I grow up, I want to be a Musician”. She replied, “Don’t be stupid. You can’t do both!”😂
Im from ohio, i was there two weeks ago, the first day they opened the track with the new layout, and ran my 1/8 nitro in practice with the electric 1/8 scale, and i only finished one lap down from setser. That same week i ran s&s practice, ran lake park, ran epic, and ran newberry. I was pleased, epics track was huge. Second time ever ive ever ran there, with the other time being last year.
Very new myself and trying to learn setup as well. Im gonna say, for the over rotating, add anti-squat. Run the C pills higher than the D pills. So up in c and down in d. Play with rear toe to gain steering back if needed. Good to have ya back Ryan. Heard rumors you may have been gone due to moto injury. If true hope everything healed up.
It was a pleasure meeting you and Kenny there at Epic. I just got started in racing and only have a 1/10th SCT so far. Love your content- I've watched so many of your vids it felt like I was meeting a celebrity. Ha. Race on! Btw, I'm the turn Marshall at the back center of the track in blue shirt and white hat in the Ebuggy race in this vid.
So excited to follow along on this process I’m in a very similar boat! Running 10th scale 2wd Indoor and just got a 1/8 tekno truggy. Would love a review of your work station / room looks dialed!
So glad to see you back sir! I too race 1/8 buggy and truggy. I'll be heading down your probably in the off season. I'm heading home back to Deltona! Great footage! And you'll pick up the 1/8th scale game soon, you're an amazing driver 👍
That was real outdoor racing. That track look plenty dusty. It makes me ask how the grip felt during those races? Overall, I thibk you did nicely. Bring us more 1/8th goodness, Ryan! It's good to see you back.
Try the steering arm option part, also keep in mind most setups have the incline blocks and aluminum spindles and 17mm outdrives from universals popping outwhen moving pills out in front which helps. Also alot of ppl have hb shocks on tlrs
Give Ryan dunfords 2020 DNC setup a try. It’s under the 8xt nitro setup but is one of the best setups for that truck. Nitro or electric. Works on west coast and east coast tracks.
Great vid man love watching your racing vids! If you have loads of initial grip into a corner but it fades into a loose rear end try raising the inner link up to lower the rear roll centre it also goes a way to stop the inner wheel wanting to lift slightly may be better on the hairpin turns
Very nice to see this good progress. This is a quite large scale car, wonderful to see how you managed to end up so high. And about the pokemon: everybody has weird collections.... I am into rc cars... :-)
I feel ya Ryan. I'm mostly new to the 8th scale scene too and I'm trying to find my footing as far as driving technique goes. Can't wait to see what you learn.
Seriously enjoy your videos Ryan! Here in South Texas we have mostly 10th size tracks on "sandy clay"... But the most competitive classes are 8th scale??? IDK why.. I have no idea on link locations, but toe, camber, foams, springs, and ride height solve our under-to-snap-oversteer issues every time. ... Adding grip up front and stabilizing the rear might be your solution? Oddly enough, I've found that tuning cars in Forza Horizon 4 and/or 5 is great practice or diagnosing driveability issues and making adjustments. 🤷 Quality practice s always a good thing, being affordable is a big bonus too. 😁
Buggy loooks great-wheel that thing👍 Line choice and throttle control is name of the game-especially as the track breaks down Ya RAWSPEED! (Also my tire sponsor) new MACHONE’s are dialed -PapaBear/TeamOCD
When you said small tracks I thought about my local track, then you showed the track, its at least 4 times the size. Definitely need to try 10th scale on track.
thats a wild track. ive never seen jumps that high but so short and they should make the jump on the tall hairpin turn able to actually make it up there but still be risky to jump this way its actually a risk vs reward thing. glad to see ya back and hope its not 3 months before a new video
I went up to Epic the first weekend the track was open after the new layout. I run 1/10 scale 4wd buggy and 4wd short course, took my cars up there to try it out. Those jumps really are huge but they are done very well had no issues at all with takeoffs and landings. Was pretty wild seeing my B74 hovering dead flat like a ufo 15 feet high in the air off the big jump.
I ran the Arrma TLR Typhon this season. I dropped the standoffs front and rear to the lowest setting, heavy toe out camber up front, stretched the wheelbase as far as I could and played with the pills (Dakotah Phend helped me dial in and I don't know what pills he threw in my car). Not sure how your tracks down in FL compare to the ones up here in MI/IN but Dakotah got my car wicked dialed in for RC Fun Parks track and its translated well to the other tracks in my area. I've run a lot of 1/10 2wd on clay and this setup on my 1/8 e-bug feels very similar.
I was watching a building video Jared Tebo.. techno 48.21 . He said to shimm the diffs but also to make sure everything still spins free or a wise the car will over rotate as gearbox stiffen up. He backed out the screws to the two halfs just till the outdrive spun nice.... so maybe check ya shims and make sure no bearing bind. He also said people try to chase a set up when really the problem is the car isn't built properly... hope this helps anyone... and good to see the 1/8th racing again...
Just got into truggy this year running the RC8T4e. I know several guys at the track run a 1900Kv I run a 2000kv. Not a terrible difference between the two but I will say the 1900kv is really smooth compared to the 2250kv and 2200Kv motors. Me personally I run 0 punch on my buggy and truggy just do not like it at all. You ran perfect with a 1900kv and i know for fact there was several others on the track with 2000kv plus motors. Please keep uploading on 1/8th scale (or in general) you have so much knowledge on setups and tuning.
I am new to this channel, and I enjoy the explanations of what you are running for the diffs. your Truggy seems on the lighter side, much lighter than the Arrma Typhon I am running. Good racing though.
Welcome back man! Great info and presentation as always. I hate to tell you that your servo is a Spektrum like the one in my Losi desert buggy. Spektrum, Savox, so similar lol. Cheers!
we have missed you Ryan ... one of our favorite rc youtubers,
Great positivity from this channel and yours....thanks to both of you for all you do for the hobby
Seconded
Great to see you're back Ryan. You're my favorite RC driver and content creator.
You are the most informative person Ryan. I appreciate what you do for the hobby and bringing us average folk along for the ride.

That's so awesome! We are happy to see you in a town near us! 😀
I know we are few, but you are priceless to your subscribers! No one makes better videos! 💯

super excited to see some 1/8 content and more new stuff from you Ryan! some of the best RC videos on youtube.
heyyyyy welcome back! ive used a lot of your content to finally get into track days and club racing, thanks again for the top tier content ❤
Good to see you back. I’m inspired to start my 1/8 scale racing, finally. Anything that helps you stay young is great. Like when I said to my Mum (Mom) as a kid. “When I grow up, I want to be a Musician”. She replied, “Don’t be stupid. You can’t do both!”😂
I went to that track on vacation one day and with limited resources I managed my way into top 3 in etruggy. Amazing track and an awesome owner
I was literally just thinking about your videos the other day and how long it's been Glad to see you back!
Im from ohio, i was there two weeks ago, the first day they opened the track with the new layout, and ran my 1/8 nitro in practice with the electric 1/8 scale, and i only finished one lap down from setser. Love your channel, you helped me with my 1/10th scale stuff perhaps more than any other channel. Thanks man
Glad your back. Was starting to think you gave it up for good. I always love you content.
That buggy motor in the truggy made the car more driveable on a medium sized low ish grip track. Good job on the 1st place finish
I loved the video. Especially the end. Keep that child like heart alive. Cheers
Great to see you back 😀
always appreciate the videos. your attitude and enthusiasm for RC is great to see
Hope to meet u at masters of dirt in couple weeks u have helped me learn this sport for sure thanks a lot
Very nice to see a video from styles Harris. Looking att you videos for many years now.
Awesome to see you back man!
nice to see you back, Love 8th scale wish we had tracks local that ran them! Honestly that is the perfect size track for 8th scale.
Glad your back, you are the reason I got back into raceing.
Where I make the hobby look so nerdy, you make it look so cool.
Long awaited idd ... good to have you back.
Most beautiful RUclips videos in rc world !
Love to watch😍

Cool stuff. I wish they raced these here in Colorado. I'm gonna build me a pair though over the winter to just have. I'll go all Spektrum gear too.

Heyyyy. You're back !!!
amazing, almost went in for the thought that Ryan abandoned RC.
@@extec101 yeah me too. I really love his content
Glad your back! I love your videos.
Yeah man you got me into RC then went AWOL. Glad to see some new feeds in the feed. Keep on keepin’ on.
That was real outdoor racing. That track look plenty dusty. It makes me ask how the grip felt during those races? Overall, I thibk you did nicely. Bring us more 1/8th goodness, Ryan! It's good to see you back.
YESS!! Ryan is BACK! Cheers bro!

Glad to see you back.. only a few minutes in and wondering why a plastic servo horn? Never had any luck with them, not even in 1/10th
Good to see you again!
Just sand down those tires, soak them in sauce...... and pray you can keep it in the line😂 haha welcome to off road!! Good to see you back
Very nice to see this good progress. This is a quite large scale car, wonderful to see how you managed to end up so high. And about the pokemon: everybody has weird collections.... I am into rc cars... :-)

so glad that you are back!!
Good to see ya back man. Always great content
Ryan is back!
I think the new hubs will help. JQ did a cool video on the Losi geometry and the scrub is funny on it. Thats what makes it hard to drive!
Finally a new video. also on the best scale... so pumped!
Great to see you back in good shape ryan!
Seriously enjoy your videos Ryan!

Hey you are back and you still got it , man 👍🤘
The Halo shirt makes me happy, as does your return
Good to see you back! Buggy looked like it could do with a lower rear roll centre. Looked a bit skittish.
Buggy loooks great-wheel that thing👍
Line choice and throttle control is name of the game-especially as the track breaks down
Ya RAWSPEED! (Also my tire sponsor) new MACHONE’s are dialed
-PapaBear/TeamOCD
Great video. See you in a few month or so.
Great Video. Love to see content coming again from your channel.
Welcome back!!
Great video man! Great to see you racing also!!
Ryan I wish I could go to the race this coming weekend but I'll be in Ocala. We met the one of the times that you were at epic RC racing complex.
When you said small tracks I thought about my local track, then you showed the track, its at least 4 times the size. Definitely need to try 10th scale on track.
Raise front camber links on the tower.. go up on front sway bar.
Loved this video. Your tips are super beneficial. Keep it up
thats a wild track. ive never seen jumps that high but so short and they should make the jump on the tall hairpin turn able to actually make it up there but still be risky to jump this way its actually a risk vs reward thing. glad to see ya back and hope its not 3 months before a new video

I've run a lot of 1/10 2wd on clay and this setup on my 1/8 e-bug feels very similar.
Damn, where you been?! Glad your back!
Ryan Harris upload

The setups from the e-nats from cav and phend in shippensburg,PA were on a very high bite surface. It's my local track.
Ryan we hope you're doing ok mate, we miss you. Love the video as always.
Camber link positions not too complicated. Higher and longer on low grip, shorter and lower on high grip ;)
He's back ??!!?!!😊. Let see what we can learn.👍🤔🤨😉
😊🤘🇦🇺 Love your work mate 😊

Where in Florida are you racing? I'm looking to get back into the hobby, I can't find tracks anywhere near me (SW Florida)
Ciao volevo sapere gentilmente cosa ne pensate dalla wirc racing la SBXE3 1/8 BUGGY??
I am new to this channel, and I enjoy the explanations of what you are running for the diffs. your Truggy seems on the lighter side, much lighter than the Arrma Typhon I am running. Good racing though.
Welcome back man! Great info and presentation as always. I hate to tell you that your servo is a Spektrum like the one in my Losi desert buggy. Spektrum, Savox, so similar lol. Cheers!
Something you can look for less aggressive rotating is rear toe… idk where yours at but a neutral position is adequate.
I mean old stuff works , they worked perfectly fine in 2020... No shame at all in not having the new shiny thing every season !
Exactly….I still podium often with mugens previous models.
Lol I tied for first in point with gear from 2004 😂
On point...nothing changed much in the last 4-6years anyway.
Great to see you making content again. I'll lay odds that you do better than B Main. Either way best of luck it's going to be a crazy weekend.
