Rabies is one of my favourite skills. It is miserable at killing bosses and it does get worse in hell, but it still is a cool way to get area damage on a melee build. It only takes 40 skills, it's probably the best starter in the whole game until the end of nightmare. For safe you could combine it with fire claws which also doesn't need high weapon damage (but fast attacks). You might also get really silly and combine it with hunger and crushing blow. Anyways, it's super cool!
I have it happen frequently. Its the reason I hate act 3 until lower kurast which I then enjoy. The forest area is just really dumb sometimes. I've even had one where I could not figure out how to move forward. I checked every corner of the map that I could see and still didnt know where to go.
I tried the Rabies build once, used Bramble armour, trang gloves, grief, poison facets in sockets, had anni and torch, merch with conviction aura too if I remember correctly, and I can tell you that it STILL isn't good enough for end game.. Rabies for one and all for rabies like you said xD And I've experienced that spider cavern shit too it drives me mad... Subbed!

I've been playing a Rabies/Fury hybrid for the last few months. In terms of relevance, it started out as 95% solid poison damage, with 5% physical hits in the meantime, but switched to 98% physical damage with Fury and 2% poison by the end (only because I felt bad about not using Rabies at least sometimes). Essentially, the most utility I was able to eek out of Rabies in Hell was the roleplaying value of pretending to be a 'spider wolf', by injecting enemies with deadly - deadly in my head alone, of course - poison and feasting on their cooked up insides (15 points in Feral Rage for healing thousands of hp in two to three hits as part of the roleplaying experience). Rabies was pretty good at cancelling the Ubers' regen though, so that much - or that little, rather - I won't deny. Another amusing thing about that build is that I came up with it after looking at Grief very carefully, in an attempt to understand the devs' thought process behind that overpowered monster of a runeword. What I realised after whole 5 seconds of rumination was that Grief was meant specifically for Rabies druids. No, I'm serious: Venom proc, to dramatically increase poison damage output, reduction to enemies' poison resistance, as well as massive added physical damage to have something to do with your paws while the green meagre numbers keep ticking down. Grief truly does great at propping up Fury's damage to the point of Rabies' complete irrelevance; in that sense, it helps the build immensely. The point I'm endeavouring to make here is that if you do end up playing a shared stash version of pure Rabies, you will, at the very least, need Trang Oul's Claws, near perfectly rolled Bramble and Plaguebearer with a decently rolled Rainbow Facet. Ideal equipment would, however, involve 13 perfect Rainbow Facets spread between the weapon, the shield and the helmet, allowing one to clear, uh... players 3 cows relatively fast? I'm not even joking or exaggerating that much, by the way. Oh, and if you manage to fill your whole inventory with absurdly rare perfect poison charms - 451 damage over 6 seconds, if I recall correctly - you might even be able to whittle the Ubers down within several hours' time (as long as you have Venom from Arachnid Mesh or some such, to render the added poison damage meaningful).
Yeah that is kind of what happened with mine as well. I started focusing more and more on physical damage. Oh I've never tried Rabies with the ubers I just equipped a ribcracker and some open wounds and went to town on them. Fury Druid is such a good uber runner though. Oh shit I didn't even realise Grief has such a big poison theme. I just don't register stuff like that anymore. I just know Grief as the big damage thing. Yeah I have all that stuff, no worries I have 2 fully maxed out accounts with a 1000+ hours in each of them. I have a full grail available on mules (except for 4 items that I'm still missing. On both of them lol, and on plugy. Seriously I'm 4 items away from my first, second and maybe even third grail) If I want to use all of those charms to really show it off I'll just hero edit it haha. I don't have those. But the rest I do have. Yeah several hours of ubers... I'm just gonna go ahead and give that a big nope not happening haha
I came to see how frustrated you got 😂! Ive built a high end gear rabies druid a few years back. Got like 100k damage or something, but it was still terrible. 100k damage is still bad if it takes 3-5 working days to achieve it 😂. Well done to you for sticking this one out. Id have given up entitely !
Oak Spirit needs to have a buff. The fact it dies instantly everytime you enter combat tells me that it needs to have extra resistance based on difficulty level and bonus to it's health. The druid is one of the coolest classes but they are so limited on what you can spec into.

I ran a rabies Druid in like 2009 and I would ruin people in PVP, I was hitting upwards of 22k poison. Just one rabies bite, swap, fury and pop. Only ever got taken out by Zealers running charge who’d stun before i get the bite off.
what about an enchant sorc using that throwing ax that makes novas? you could synergize the nova and add a couple items for pierce eg razortail and that helm
Using a dweb is game changing for this build. I used to run a BM rabies pvp druid that was tons of fun. Shared stash run! Or at least make a hybrid Fury Rabies dude, tomb reaver ftw!!

Why didnt you use fury to stack life Leech and run speed up before rabies, and swap to the lvl 30 ability after rabies is applied, and no sage? Great vid was fun to Watch!
Life leech doesn't matter when you barely deal physical damage. Run speed would have been nice but not that relevant either. I started going into sage at the end but it's more of a gimmick to me I don't need it. Thank you!

i knew it. xD btw watching the way you like to play d2. there is a mod for diablo 1 you could potentially be interested in. im not sure if you are exclusively on console in which case that would be off limits ofc. but in case you are not. its called "the hell" and its currently on its 3rd iteration so "the hell 3" its basicly tailorable to your own liking but its strong suit is ironman SSF slow and methodical.
Nah I'm not exclusive, I've done D2 mods as well for the Double monster runs and stuff. I actually wish there were more cool mods for D2R. I would love to do like double act bosses or something like that. I use my playstation cause it's easier on my hands and I like my couch and being able to chill with the girlfriend while recording. But I don't feel any loyalty to a platform or anything like that. Although the YOU NEED TO PLAY ON PC people can annoy the shit out of me at times. But I just block them from the channel lol I tried getting into Diablo 1 a bunch of times at this point cause people have been asking me about it a lot. But I just can't get into it the game is so fucking slow. I even used a mod to speed it up a bunch and it still felt super tedious. I got to the butcher and was just bored out of my mind at that point. I don't have any nostalgia for it or anything which might make a big difference.

Don't play Rabies ever again. Even if it did any damage it's a not thematic to a Werewolf. Who wants to sit around waiting for shit to die playing a werewolf? They should convert it to a splash dmg on hit effect.
I'm from the Netherlands but even here I get told I talk weird all the time. I come from a city that has it's own language and had friends all over the country which ended up with me having a weird mix of both. I also speak flemish to belgians cause I grew up at the border. So a lot of stuff is mixed together in how I talk
Yeah I had some trouble farming the runes (hence finding the eth in act 3 and using the quilted armor) and the creeper very easily cleared players 8 stuff so I was way higher level than I usually am
Well if you have some general advice I'm all ears. I do have an idea of how I would do it. Bramble armor, death's web as a weapon. 4 facet shield + faceted shako seems like a good start. I'd have to check mules to see how many skillers I have laying around but seems like a good start to me
@thenuclearrabbit grief is a great option too for fury supplement along side psn pen. Jalalas main is better than shaq imo since its +4 to rabies instead of just 2 Trang gloves are a great option too since you go bramble. If you have shapeshifting skillers those go a long way to help Basically the build needs +15 to rabies at least to feel relatively good on p1 hell. And for higher you need to start thinking about both psn penetration and psn skill damage. Venom from grief or arachs also helps for some weird ass reason idk why But like dweb+4facet/spirit shield in 1 hand a 2h like insight or obedience in the other slot. +5rabies sword also works well If you go for full on rabies rabies id say Jalals, bramble, trang, aldurs boots, arach belt, rf, then dweb+4facst off hand plague bringer+spirit mainhand aaaand thats pure pure rabies without fury or anything else
Also. I generally love to supplement rabies with fury since it has enough points and to max out lyc and warewolf for better stats and more survivability whilst running. Aaand keeping feral rage stacks is advisable since it helps kiting a loooot

Poison Creeper in normal is amazing. Rabies will never be great but it will be much better online where you can trade and stuff

Yeah a few buffs would be amazing. I like where the caster builds are at but the melee builds definitely leave something to be desired.

when i tried my rabies druid I had a 6os crystal sword that i put 6 P emeralds in. 600 poison dmg. it made it very powerful early on.
That is what I intend to use when I use a NG+ run.

I ran a rabies Druid in like 2009 and I would ruin people in PVP, I was hitting upwards of 22k poison. Just one rabies bite, swap, fury and pop. Only ever got taken out by Zealers running charge who’d stun before i get the bite off.

I've died in normal twice since starting the channel. So almost never. Nightmare is becoming very rare as well. Basically as long as I pay attention I won't die

Why didnt you use fury to stack life Leech and run speed up before rabies, and swap to the lvl 30 ability after rabies is applied, and no sage?

Life leech doesn't matter when you barely deal physical damage. Run speed would have been nice but not that relevant either. I started going into sage at the end but it's more of a gimmick to me I don't need it.

I've been really into SF6 recently. So I wanted to listen to some SF4 music again. I used to play that a crapton with my friends.
@thenuclearrabbit haven't had a chance to play SF6, but was heavy into sf4/usf4 back in the day. Would play it every Wednesday. Watched excellent adventures, etc. Still play it with my homies on occasion.
i knew it. xD btw watching the way you like to play d2. there is a mod for diablo 1 you could potentially be interested in. im not sure if you are exclusively on console in which case that would be off limits ofc. but in case you are not. its called "the hell" and its currently on its 3rd iteration so "the hell 3" its basicly tailorable to your own liking but its strong suit is ironman SSF slow and methodical.
Nah I'm not exclusive, I've done D2 mods as well for the Double monster runs and stuff. I actually wish there were more cool mods for D2R. I would love to do like double act bosses or something like that.
I use my playstation cause it's easier on my hands and I like my couch and being able to chill with the girlfriend while recording. But I don't feel any loyalty to a platform or anything like that. Although the YOU NEED TO PLAY ON PC people can annoy the shit out of me at times. But I just block them from the channel lol
I tried getting into Diablo 1 a bunch of times at this point cause people have been asking me about it a lot. But I just can't get into it the game is so fucking slow. I even used a mod to speed it up a bunch and it still felt super tedious. I got to the butcher and was just bored out of my mind at that point. I don't have any nostalgia for it or anything which might make a big difference.
@@thenuclearrabbit gotcha. i think same as d2. d1 is a game that grows on you the more you know about it. i don't mind you sticking to d2, my favorite aswell. just thought you might enjoy it, not even stream or make content.
I always wanted to try a Rabies Druid so now I know it is quite terrible without any AOE
It will be better with a lot of gear though, if you go for like an additional 10 levels of farming you will be much much stronger than my druid was.
@thenuclearrabbit i just want to try all the classes and builds offline just as variety, probably just to normal. Nm and hell seems too hard. So mostly just naked and basic gears.
NM and hell is just a matter of getting used to them but nothing wrong with just doing normal just play the way you enjoy :)

I'm from the Netherlands but even here I get told I talk weird all the time. I come from a city that has it's own language and had friends all over the country which ended up with me having a weird mix of both. I also speak flemish to belgians cause I grew up at the border. So a lot of stuff is mixed together in how I talk

Yeah I had some trouble farming the runes (hence finding the eth in act 3 and using the quilted armor) and the creeper very easily cleared players 8 stuff so I was way higher level than I usually am

Well if you have some general advice I'm all ears. I do have an idea of how I would do it. Bramble armor, death's web as a weapon. 4 facet shield + faceted shako seems like a good start. I'd have to check mules to see how many skillers I have laying around but seems like a good start to me
@thenuclearrabbit grief is a great option too for fury supplement along side psn pen. Jalalas main is better than shaq imo since its +4 to rabies instead of just 2
Trang gloves are a great option too since you go bramble. If you have shapeshifting skillers those go a long way to help
Basically the build needs +15 to rabies at least to feel relatively good on p1 hell. And for higher you need to start thinking about both psn penetration and psn skill damage. Venom from grief or arachs also helps for some weird ass reason idk why
But like dweb+4facet/spirit shield in 1 hand a 2h like insight or obedience in the other slot. +5rabies sword also works well
If you go for full on rabies rabies id say
Jalals, bramble, trang, aldurs boots, arach belt, rf, then dweb+4facst off hand plague bringer+spirit mainhand aaaand thats pure pure rabies without fury or anything else
Also. I generally love to supplement rabies with fury since it has enough points and to max out lyc and warewolf for better stats and more survivability whilst running. Aaand keeping feral rage stacks is advisable since it helps kiting a loooot
