- I take my BMW M4 to my favourite race circuit in Guadix, Granada. Is it faster than the Ford Focus RS that I had previously?

great video, the M4 is a worthy car upgrade but curious how a 400bhp mk3 RS would be against an M4 on track.
Stage 1 it with bootmod3, just tuned my f80 competition pack and the difference is unbelievable, also got the gts gearbox map and it's also noticeably faster.

no, car is completely standard M4

Exactly what I said about the RS being a very different drive and having to learn the M4 and how to drive it properly. Great looking track though. May I ask, you mentioned vibrations, was this in the steering wheel by any chance?
the vibrations were under braking, even just touching the brake pedal. Diagnosed as warped discs the first time, wheel bearing the second and no idea the third! It's better now but there's a bit of a groaning sound under braking again. We'll see how it goes!
I think the vibrations may have been under her seat??
Automatic gearbox and extra power seems to make the difference as it seems a fair bit slower on the bends.

3.0 ltr straight 6, but heavier, flappy paddle gearbox with similar BHP (345) but more Torque (406) - but still the RS torque vectoring and 4WD makes up a great deal of that difference in the twisties. On a country road, the RS would leave an M4 for dead. Fun to compare but they are two very different cars that are at home in very different scenarios.

Great fun Justin: some questions for you. Firstly, you didn't introduce your ballast 🙈.
Second, were you on (the dreadful) standard run flats or something more track focussed? Lastly, did you have the traction control and any other driver aids switched off?, if not, a sub 1:30 is possible . 👍
The car is on the standard road tyres and I had it in MDM mode so maybe I'll switch that off completely next time and see what happens :)
@@FezzaYT Really interesting. I didn't know but there are 2 stages to MDM mode, and to switch everything off (i.e. engage fun mode) you press and hold the button rather than press and release. Of course you'll need to remember to be a little more careful but, from previous comments, you clearly can drive 😬👍Good luck, should you choose to accept this mission !

Well, within 2 weeks, my Focus RS will have her first track day ! I'll see how I compete against a Leon Cupra Mk3 (I already know I'm slower in the straight)

sort of...put a bit of weight on over Christmas and losing it very slowly! It's a constant struggle
Good stuff and a little more practice and you'll get more time off your lap. Lose the passenger as well for the timed laps.
Get one of the local track drivers to set a lap and see what the car can do as reference.
430 Fezza on the track will be good but slower than the M4.
i think the 430 will be quicker....but hopefully I'll be able to confirm that shortly!
For the money I'd rather have the RS
the RS is a lot of car for the money and great fun!

the head gasket was already sorted it did need replacing

I'm not sure. The M4 makes up a lot of time under acceleration. The RS is definitely quicker in the twisty bits but the M4 is quite a bit faster on the straights.
