Oh yeah, I loved them for the uniqueness when just Ship on Fire was getting play on Liquid Metal. After I already thought they were the most unique band of the year, they put up a clearly black metal track and I was like oh shit... I'm in love.
I really enjoyed this band before this album. Then I became obsessed. Who knew blues with black metal could become so addictive? And this song is an exemplary example of their unique blend between some well-worn musical genres.
The sound of this band is AMAZING. Death to the Holy, Church Burns, and Götterdamenrung and masterpieces and I've listened to them non stop for a year now.
Knowing humanity? Nah, a whooooole lot of people would double down in denial. The violence will still probably happen though, we're always looking for any excuse to do that.
I believe in God and believe there are aliens. What if aliens believed in a God and found out there were "aliens" on planet earth? Not sure why you don't realize people believed God created everything. We don't have to see the dinosaurs in person to believe God created those as well.
Or our ancestors thought the aliens who came centuries ago were gods, and people have wasted their whole lives believing fairy tales, and committing the worst atrocities in the history of mankind, in the name of some species of alien, who were probably laughing their asses off as they watched in sadistic glee, like we were just ants in their own giant ant farm. 100x more plausible than any organized religions' origin story! And 500x more likely than Christ being immaculately conceived, walking on water, rising from the dead, telling people to turn the other cheek, and yet doing nothing as the Spanish inquisition killed and tortured innocent people by the thousands trying to bring Christianity to the world!
Love this song. They seem kind of heavy on finding a good grind immediately into a song and then just making the entire song two hooks and two chorusii. I feel like I don't appreciate them enough but I also feel like appreciating them more than I do is inventing appreciation so, what I decided to do, is just listen more. I suggest you do to.

Listening to Z&A's new album through my headphones in the supermarket - it's taking a lot of restraint to not headbang and stomp my way through the fresh produce section. 😅 Great video. The scene with the guy on the hill is a perfect portrayal of how it feels to find out the awful truth about something you once believed in.

I'll live as if he's not and simply try to be the best person I can be and if that's not good enough for some god; if they would reject me because I didn't stroke their egos... well, I guess I'll go to Hell then. A god that'd let a good person go to hell because they didn't believe is not a good, kind or just god, imo, so I wouldn't want to go to its heaven. If religion helps some people deal with the stresses of life, that's all fine and well, I won't knock them... but when they turn authoritarian and abusive, that's where the problems start and I start standing behind the notion of "death to the "holy"." My default state is more "meh to the holy" though. Never strongly cared one way or the other that I can recall.

So his beliefs are engraved from childhood but knows the abuse was wrong and can't face the trauma thus turns to drink. By bathing in the unnatural light he's shedding his faith and the trauma it inflicted. He represents the absolution of western society when the Christian God is purged.

Im a Christian and I love this album, actually I got to see these guys open up for Mastodon and Opeth back in december. Sure there are some people (not exclusively Christians) who freak out about evil bands but they are not usually the majority. I think that anyone, religious or not who forms opions about bands based on their image needs to reevaluate their music listneing.

This guy has been making amazing music for like 15 years now. I remember the first thing I heard by him was "Row Row", when that album first came out.
I just picked this up from a friend of mine and love it. If you haven't heard of them yet, 12ft ninja is eclectic like this too.
