I love this type of texture when its used on minis for things like cloth and leather. Great video!
Glad you like it!
The leve of detail here with such simple (simple in application not simple with brush control) is just outstanding.
Amazing footage and brilliant guide.
Thank you very much!
Absolutely amazing! Great technique! I can't believe the outcome. Looks fantastic!
Thank you! Cheers!
Knocked it out the park! I'm actually looking forward to trying the next mini with alot of leather seeing this. Thank you for the great content as always!🤘🏻
Awesome! Thank you!
Love seeing a good leather tutorial. I half expected to only watch part way through and get bored, but I watched the whole thing. It was very well done, thank you!
Glad it was helpful! And thanks so much for the kind words! Really means alot
Will definitely be using this on my slaves to darkness!
Exactly what I am looking for, looks stunning!
Glad you like it!
Excellent stuff. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you! Will do!
Second time I've watched this. This time I've taken notes and have models to try this out on. If I can get it looking half as good as yours I'll be happy.
Just take time. Practice building up and thinning and getting those line nice and thin x
@@TheFeralPainter I've got six ogres who are going to have leather pants, boots, and any other bits I can do. I've also got a few Stormcasts who aren't going to be very lore compliant when I've finished with them!
100% going to try this out. Ill do it on my broken test mini as he actually has a leather pouch. Amazing tut and an amazing job on the leather
Thanks bro
Great job brother! Thanks for the video man!
No problem 👍
I love painting leather and this has only given me more help and inspiration as always. Cheers man. Also would love to see you do some daemons in the future, maybe slaanesh or tzeentch grimdark I think you'd nail it
Great suggestion! Im working on some flesh easters atm! Ill probs do more of that stuff as i like painting it now and again. Get bord of armour hahah
Hey, Awesome video. I really like the effect. I started to experiment on my AoS Uruks wearing leather. I'll probably start trying something like that. The visual in the end is great.
Thanks souch!
This is fantastic, many thanks.
Thank you too!
Looks great! I need to try this on my Gutrippaz.
Go for it!
Definitely going to give this a go. Great video!
Glad you enjoy it!
This is awesome…thankyou for a great video👍
You are so welcome
That looked insanely good. I’m going to have to go back over the leather pouches and straps on my Sons of Horus marines now.
Hahaha enjoy man
You are a real wizard! Thanks for the amazing tutorials, your vision of grimdark is magnificent
Glad you like them!
Great tech, congratulations!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Fantastic effect! I will try to reproduce it :)
Enjoy
First time catching one of your videos great tutorial, also I have never seen anyone use their middle finger to make the sweeping motion. That was a great tip!
Glad it was helpful!
This looks awesome.
Thanks man
Fantastic tutorial mate!
Thank you! Cheers!
Great video. Thank you!
Glad you liked it!
Let’s gooo. Looks great man
Cheers dude

@@TheFeralPainter 👍
That is super impressive.
Thanks
That's AWESOME!!!!
Thanks man
Great video, subbed mate.
Thanks for the sub!
Awesome job!😊
Thank you! Cheers!
First layer: Hey, that actually already looks like leather. 2nd layer: Oh wow, now it is so leathery. 3rd layer: My god, this is magic. 4th layer: OMG wtf how did I fuck that up so hard??? (that´s just me, I guess. Awesome tutorial, nice channel, subbed :) )
Awww thanks man means alot
Perfect timing! I'm a big fan of the grimdark style and just got to the point where I need to paint up the leather bits. Thanks for all the tips!
Just curious but what colors would you use to create weathering on black leather? Blues and greys maybe?
Any coulor for weathering dude just depends on the environment there in
I LOVE IT 😮🤩
Thanks
What a great video, very inspiring just earned a subscription from me, thanks
Awesome, thank you!
Finally someone has the skillz to make a comprehensive how-to-leather-cloaks video.
Underrated channel for sure.
But as i've sad to other, similar, small channels: "Some of the best mini-hobby channels i've found rarely have over 10K subs. They are the hidden gold veins for those who know where to dig".
Thanks so so much man! Really means alot saying that! Thanks so so much! But yes some of the smaller channels defiantly dont get the traction they deserve
Push the back of the GW paint lid down to stop them drying out. 👍
I'm sure it's intentional. 😐
Agreed 😂🤣
Amazing tutorial as always! Leather is a very difficult material to paint for me so this is super helpful!
Also, quick question. What mini do you use in this tutorial? The cape looks really cool!
Big thanks and its abaddon the despoilers cape
Thank you.
Welcome!
This is probably the best example I have seen to paint weathered leather. Very nicely done!!
Thanks so much
Great tutorial matey. The point about back and forth is something I wish I'd learned earlier
Glad it was helpful!
Cracking video
Thanks man! Means alot 👌🏻👌🏻
stunning painting! would you say please, can we use an airbrush for glaze in this case?
Yes you can!
I've always struggled painting leather... Saw an old masterclass article in an Inquisitor 'Exterminatus' supplement recently that showed how to paint leather by using washing up liquid to break the surface tension of glazes for real looking leather. Really interested to see what you do, as it'd great to have different methods for such things.
Hopefully u get something from this. Its quite easy tbh. Just a lots of squiggles and glazes. Can do it quite fast
Thanks, I've got loads of orks to paint and I want them all wearing leather so sure this'll be really helpful, cheers
Sometimes I forget that we used to use stuff like washing up liquid and floor polish to make washes! The hobby was a different beast back then...
Yaaassss!
Thanks man!!
What colors would be best to use if I want to make black leather
Black and greys
Also would this work on fur live a space wolf?
No it wouldnt, but would work on a ultra marine. Haha jokes. Yes will work on anything
What advice can you give if my END GOAL is what you had on the interior? I want my finalized cape to look like your inside looked at 1:48, very dark with a smaller inference of the brown… did you do the inside of your cape in alternative steps or anything?
Same but didnt go as bright with the coulors, and less scratches. Also you can knock it back useing glases too ✌🏼✌🏼
@@TheFeralPainter can’t wait to try. My models are dark brown/black in their ceramite so I can’t go too close to the full brown effect otherwise it gets very close to matching the armor color, but still wanted it to be clear it’s “brown” leather, so that tone inside your cape is PERFECTION. Thank you for this!
@@TheFeralPainter so to clarify something like doing a couple passes of mournfang and NOT going up to xv88 and then doing the mournfang glazing and rhinox glazing steps?
Great video, I have tons of space Wolves who could benefit from this tutorial
Glad it helped!
Found if you find it hard to use a brush then use a tiny piece of sponge and build up layers getting lighter. Gives great scratch effects too
Thanks for sharing!
I take it painting human leather is the same for my Night Lords?
No o do mine different
Check out my night lords video
Will this tip it to 1%?
Just in time to repaint my gigantic Chaos army for The Old World!
Enjoy
Love those models
please list colors used in the description.
There literally all at the begining
@@TheFeralPainter im blind. need to read them
I mean, of course flesh tones makes sense, leather is skin after all.
