My late father was Volkswagen mechanic and service manager and worked at packard dealerships that sold Volkswagen's before Volkswagen of America imported them Hoffman imported them then.
Cal look was the way all drag cars were in that day. A Chevelle would have centerlines and skinny front wheels and big meats on the rear. Lowered in the front and the big tires would make the back high. Lightened with no bumpers or a buggy bumper in the front (weight saving) Or blades. then loose the chrome on the windows. One piece front windows (more similar to a race car).
