- It was a frightening moment when we saw Ron Fleming driving the Hunsaker Racing race car, losing control at the finish line at top speed and crashing into the guardrail so hard. Thank God, Ron Fleming walked away, but he got some minor injuries.

Poor Ron! I'm so glad he is alright. That was an awful crash. That he was able to crack jokes (good ones I might add! ) was a great sign. Prayers for Ron to heal up quick! Thank the Good Lord the safety equipment did its job and protected him.
I mean, safety cage did its job! Top end wrecks in a lightweight race build are no joke- the forces at play immense. Glad all is well and he was able to horse around a bit w the EMT, shows good character 👍🏻 😎
The big end at Sacramento claims another one. It’s windy down there. Been selling at the swap camped on the other side of the fence. I remember seeing a Ghia or a fiberglass 356 flying through the air just past the lights. Glad he is ok and in good spirits.

You know Ron is still having all kinds of problems because of this accident you guys are getting older need to be very careful about what you do you're not a young man anymore you get to be 70 years old and your drag racing and this happens you'll end up leaving us you need to be really really careful and really really responsible about the decisions you make otherwise he won't be around driving to Volkswagen meets in Irwindale and Prado Dam and everywhere else he'll just be gone I know he's joking around about it but he's not joking around about it anymore

WOW one hell of a crash......hitting the wall at that speed OMG then I am not sure how many times it rolled.....Ron at his age to walk out of there was pretty lucky. YIKES.....glad you made it Ron. Even the engine got ripped out of the car....but the cage did its job.
I believe this is the second time he's crushed that car😳 cars. Was fast beautiful and perfect but there's only one Ron Fleming thank God he's okay🙏

Glad he's OK that's a bad crash, thank God for safty . I saw a Ron lummus all green car crash quite a few years ago live in the stands @ Irwindale Drag Strip he made it out fine was he mad..

As others mentioned, undoubtedly the cross/tail wind was the cause. Check out the flag pole at the beginning of the vid in the background of the burnout. I remember the NHRA cancelling the last round or 2 of PS a few years back due to unfavorable winds but of course only after a couple of cars had crashed and others had near misses.
Glad he's OK, gotta factor in that crosswind component when you're landing!

He destroyed an expensive car look like he stayed in the groove pretty good all the way down even down at the end when he took a little wobble and then a hard right he really never got out of the center of the black lane. I don’t see the marbles in the loose that’s that he’s talking about. I know what he means by the turbo in the rear end getting out of shape but the front end took a hard right how old is ron now but 100.

looked like the rear got loose. I think it flattened the rear tire.
I know he's a cool dude you know he loves Volkswagens work for fat and all that but I'm just saying when you get older you need to be careful cuz an accident like that could just end your life and you'll have a lot more broken hearts than if he was just hanging out in the pits when you get older you need to decide when you're going to stop racing before it's too late it's not that important if it's going to cost you your life

i was having a conversation with a guy and i heard a loud noise and then i saw a car door rise above the motor home behind his head, then i saw the back end of a car fly up so yes, probably 10 feet in the air. i knew it was bad and was relieved when I saw him get out
