This is absolutely true. I've been taking cold showers for over a month now. It's still uncomfortable, but I don't hesitate now. I just do it. I started doing 1 minute of cold water at the end of my warm showers, but now I do cold from the beginning without thinking about it. I've also started the habit of saying hello to strangers on the street. I've done 2 weeks of it and it has been absolutely amazing! Even though it's uncomfortable I enjoy it. I set myself the target of doing it with at least 10 strangers from Monday to Friday on my way to work. I feel so happy when I do it that I always go well beyond 10. I love it!
Dr aziz your a real cradit to the human race with your work.i apply your work everyday in my life and would have been still lost without your invaluable work
I came across this video a few years ago. It left a great impression on me, and after watching it again it’s a trip to see how far I’ve come with my own progress in gaining more confidence since the first time I watched this. Cold showers? No thanks! I weirdly prided myself in taking showers that were nearly scalding hot. But there were situations in my life where I’d had enough, and all I wanted was to tap into a deeper well of confidence that I never had, to stop being nice, and to be what this mysterious “authentic self” was. To give you some context, I’m one of those guys who would have an impulse to speak my mind online and leave a comment on a video or post, and then maybe halfway through writing my thoughts and feelings I would just close out and not say anything at all… because I’d rather not deal with the discomfort of someone disagreeing with me. Because I’d rather not deal with the discomfort of someone proving me wrong and making me feel stupid, or even worse, I didn’t want anyone harassing me in this digital age where people can be so toxic. I’m gonna say 2 and a half years have passed since I watched this video where Dr. Aziz suggested 30 seconds of taking a cold shower. Last year it became habitual, where after the hot shower I’d stand in a cold shower for up to 8 minutes. It sucked! But I learned to embrace it. I got used to the discomfort and I think it did amazing things for my mind, my body, and my confidence. I was working my way up to 10 minutes, but now California is in a drought so to save water I just forgo hot or warm altogether and do it cold right from the start haha. I also do intermittent fasting regularly, and last Saturday I did my first 24hr fast. I’m proud to say that practicing “anti-fragility” is my lifestyle now. It’s insane how strong we can become when we simply tell ourselves “When I say ‘go’, I’m gonna go!” And no, I really don’t hesitate to speak my mind anymore unless the situation is delicate and requires tact. Also, I can’t credit all of my own personal growth just because of cold showers.. hahah! But it was definitely part of the equation 🙂 Thank you for everything you do, Dr. Aziz! And to anyone who’s read this far, I hope you can face your fears, move through them with inner peace, and experience true and authentic confidence 😎🤙🏽☮️💟☯️
I think it’s wild that that cold shower method is the same method that I used for the gym inadvertently. I also found it funny that you called me out so hard. People outside the gym always call my workouts and consistency crazy or impressive but I have been struggling to bring that to other parts of my life. Now I realize that the sooner I bite the bullet on those other things, the sooner I will develop those habits in other areas of my life.
Great video! Willingly and consciously exposing yourself to finite periods of discomfort reminds me a lot of the teachings of the stoics and their belief in learning to expect and anticipate unpleasant things in life to desensitize yourself to fears and anxieties.
Thanks a lot, I love every video you make and it helps me a ton. I know what you mean about that bargaining situation, "look, we're not getting out of the shower until we turn it to cold so we might as well". It was really hard, my shower gets REALLY cold when turned down all the way. But I did it anyways, and when I got out I felt great for doing this. After I was used to it I decided i would try the same thing in my social life, I usually get nervous at a party with my friends or talking to an attractive girl, but I said to myself; "Look at yourself later after going down the path of fear. You're disappointed and lonely because you stayed behind your fear wall. don't be that person." and it made me get out of my shell. I hope I can do this enough to the point where there is no negotiation. There's just action. Thank you for the amazing and motivational content.
So funny, I have a daily advice calendar & as I'm watching this I ripped off yesterday's page, today's advice is, "FEAR WILL FOLLOW YOU; LET IT GO." The universe makes no mistakes!... I'm listening.
awesome Dr Aziz I laughed when you said stay 30 second in cold water, i wanna take action and see the outcome. But anyway ,you are a knowledgeable person .
Aziz, do you think working on being more assertive, less nice, and less shy and avoidant in general, can also help alleviate symptoms of pee shyness? I wonder if the two have any correlation. I hypothesize that some people have a hard time getting over the condition because they might not have addressed the underlying issues
That exercise to turn on cold after you showered warm is for babies. 😀. Each morning I step into the shower, right under the rain shower head and crank up the cold. Only then, after 30-40 sec. I turn to hot… for the first couple of days I hated it but over time it became just kind of a habit. Try it out yourself…!
Heyy just a question is talking to strangers safe? Tbh the people in my country won't take this in a good way, they'll be all suspicious and cautious. But like,, stranger danger? Does that apply to having conversations with random people?
i actually do something similar like with confronting what you dont like untill youre not scared of it anymore i get often panick attakcs in the school hallways or if there to manny peopel around and whenever i do i cant move nor can i respond to peopel around me at first i just thought i can aviod cramped busses or full hallywas . . but IM the one that has to adapt to the situation around me so i try to whenever i feel like im about to brake down hit my hand against the wall as hard as possible so make myselve know that its wrong to think like this and to make me snap out of this state i cant ask others to do it because if someone comes close to me when im like this i start screaming ( at least thats what i was told . . i cant remember my attacks too well for some reasons) is this the right way to do it ? or am i on the completly wrong path ? i dunno
its really fun to do these things you say in the video ! if i read a book about it or watch a movie i probably wouldnt have done anything . But actually "talking" to that person makes me feel like i dont wanna let them down and try even harder . i guess
The truth about 'Cold showers' Is that it has plenty of confidence benefits, but stepping in the cold shower never gets better, It's always cold and awful, but you feel refreshed and great after stepping out EVERY TIME!
@@GetMoreConfidence I used to do that but i got in wind of Law of attraction and the idea of path of least resistance and I have to feel good and choose from catalogue of universe. Give me that, that and that. Until i heard more about others wants and began to question why would that gorgeous girl want me, I am clearly not any of things she says she wants, or why would that Mercedes s250 be mine as i don't have the money for it, you get the idea.
I get there's a lot of negativity there. I think a lot of people have been mislead and disillusioned about the Law Of Attraction, which has caused a lot of disappointment and negativity. Just wanting something without action is not the way. Apart from all that, there is still a life of fulfillment available to you just from learning the skills of confidence.
Negativity might be there. I wouldn’t know but I think I try to overcompensate by becoming more factual. I try to study for Toefl for example in attempt to go to college and that comes with better pay job in few years instead of wasting time approaching that girl who would get turned of by lack of education and long hours of work I do.
@@GetMoreConfidence Negativity? I guess so. I am trying to balance out how much fact I need to see in comparison with hope and wish and goals. Its easier said than done especially when the facts are not in your favour.

It's like inoculating yourself against it!
I would loveee a video about "how to make decisions especially when havin many options" cause the struggle is real...
For sure, I'll put that topic on the list right now!
Thank you!
I love the Beaky Buzzard reference and impression 😁

Fear and self-doubt is more crippling than a physical handicap.
It certainly is a powerful negative.

Awesome!
Yes, Dr.Aziz
You bet!

I can use willpower for physical things like getting up early, exercise, study, etc. but not in social situations. Maybe the level of fear is too high

First of all I think you Gotta know what’s bothering you and whatever that is you got to take that out of your life
Circumventing is not always the most effective approach.
Like what do you mean like in dating or just with anything
i actually do something similar like with confronting what you dont like untill youre not scared of it anymore
i get often panick attakcs in the school hallways or if there to manny peopel around
and whenever i do i cant move nor can i respond to peopel around me
at first i just thought i can aviod cramped busses or full hallywas . . but IM the one that has to adapt to the situation around me
so i try to whenever i feel like im about to brake down hit my hand against the wall as hard as possible
so make myselve know that its wrong to think like this and to make me snap out of this state
i cant ask others to do it because if someone comes close to me when im like this i start screaming ( at least thats what i was told . . i cant remember my attacks too well for some reasons)
is this the right way to do it ? or am i on the completly wrong path ?
i dunno
You certainly discovered a coping mechanism, which helps, but it doesn't get to the root of why it's happening so you can eliminate it forever.
Hi will the cold water cause a spike in blood pressure?
For answers to questions like this I suggest checking out videos by Wim Hof.
Dear Doctor, how long did it take you to get rid of SA?
Several years. However, that led me to developing my current approach which makes things much faster.
When I say go it's fucking go
Powerful!
"Fight or Flight"
Common reaction.
I do take a shower but when you said for hot and cold showers did you say minutes or seconds I can do it for seconds but not minutes.
You can work up it! Have you heard of Wim Hof? Check this out: www.wimhofmethod.com/cold-therapy
I remember watching something like this on the bachelorette and somebody did that and I thought oh my gosh that person is going to get cold
i guess it wont kill me so why not try out
i make sure to include it in the next video as an update!!!
Keep up the great work1
its really fun to do these things you say in the video ! if i read a book about it or watch a movie i probably wouldnt have done anything .
But actually "talking" to that person makes me feel like i dont wanna let them down and try even harder .
i guess
Like I do approach sometimes but I’m scare what that girl think of me :( . I want to know what’s best way I don’t get scare to approach that girl
Try this daily exercise: ruclips.net/video/0xUUEWW1baY/видео.html
Sir what do you mean by these cold shower???? What does it mean?????
I'm not sure what you're asking here, could you clarify for me?

Right on Noel!
Unless you're me. I fucking love that shit. It's uncomfortable in a very good way
BEAST MODE! :)
I FACE UP
I HOLD UP
I REACH OUT OT THE TRUE
YES YOU DO!
Is that a persona reference
What if you live in India ?
What if you do? What is the result of that?
I mean cold water is only available in winter season
Ah, well try it when you can, or something I've done in the past is put ice in the tub and submerge in that.
Thank you I will definitely try it
I choose avoid.
Than you choose to lead a less than optimum life. I encourage you to set your goals higher!
