2017 I just used a vacmaster to remove blockage. from my washing machine. Welcome Angeline. i understand your situation. The size of the screw varies from machine to machine. In that case take a scew which is smaller in size and use chemical fastener to stick it irreversibly. That works.

i have a machine just like this but my problem is a little different. The screw you took out to open the inside of the machine mine keeps coming loose, no matter how much I tighten and the machine stops spinning when it loosens can I just replace the screw? or would I need a new machine?

It means the threads in which the the screw fits are worn out. Purchasing new machine is a costly option. So try to insert some metalic adhesive and then tighten the screw. Be careful while applying the metalic adhesive because if it can stick metals, imagine what it can do to your fingers!
