I think the main reason people are so much more against big studios using AI, then youtubers like Star Wars Theory is the perceived status and effect. People are more sympathetic to and forgiving of the little guy. That's the reason why people were so angry at Grey DeLisle when she tore into some random no-name college student that used AI for voiceover for a college animation project, for example. What is a middling niche youtuber making a fan project that likely won't even make back a fraction of its alreadly small production costs compared to multibillion dollar companies like Disney doing the same for multimillion dollar project expected to make multimillion dollar profits? It's sort of the difference between a kid stealing a candy and an adult stealing a TV. Both technically the same crime, but severity is obviously different.
it also depends on the end product. let's say you're, hypothetically, a company that sells art printed on metal sheets that uses a simple leaf and magnet system to stick to a wall. Having 80% of your catalogue being AI generated is bad because your product is the art itself. on the other hand if you're making a video game using AI for the ability/item icons or using it as BGM is not as egregious.
While I haven’t heard it said in a minute, is it not _also_ that mere _usage_ of AI is causing a stupid-significant amount of pollution, or something? In which case, it’s like excusing the smaller (and dime-a-dozen content bits) usage of it while abhorring large companies using it to justify layoffs where it “just so happens” to be convenient for the person who benefits the most from cuts. Both do (purported) damage, but one is literally a weapon against job security, while the other is a tool for people being creative (hopefully, to _some_ degree). Also, yeah, small or large, _get permission first_ . Copyright claim as-is gets on people’s asses, just _get permission_ or use the appropriate tags. It’s so simple.
I remember a Simpson's episode where Homer takes over for a deceased big-rig truck driver, and he comes to find that all semi trucks have this little device inside of them that steers when he falls asleep after taking a lot of uppers and downers while on the road.

I used to be a test dummy for self driving cars back in college, both sitting in the vehicle and to test stopping before getting hit. I volunteered since I have a history of being hit by cars so I have muscle memory of rolling over windshields
for self driving cars questions; traffic signs and traffic lights are inherently there because humans can't seemlessly drive through each other at intersections, but if all cars could sense where the other nearby cars are, they could all sync up, no? sure, you'd still have people who walk and need to cross roads, but the lack of the human element in "driving" would seriously reduce the number of traffic lights and signs needed.

The god damned yu-gi-oh monster songs, armored core (there is one for White Glint), actual russian rock. So many bangers that would in all likelyhood never exist without AI which I listen to pretty much daily.
Jay walking is legal in California, when you see it is safe to do so and no immediate danger of collision. Sadly, people only read the part that it is legal.
@kerbe3 you could see crossing without regard for oncoming traffic as crossing outside the designated paths. It would disregard traffic because they could cut into the street at any moment/spot, rather than at set locations that are marked with signs

Honestly you could really fuck with someones head. Just make a bunch of AI music in a playlist with real music, but the AI music just mentions events, names or places the person is familiar with. The way i see AI, It’s just another part of the progression of technology. I think the real conversation shouldn’t be, how do we stop it, it should instead be, how do we work with it? Because a balance can be made, the problem is mainstream culture just wants to sit on their laurels and just do nothing, then the wine and complain once they’re in leave replaced because they did nothing. There’s still a market for people wanting it the old-fashioned way, the blow glass industry, for example, isn’t as big as it was, but it’s equally, if not more profitable than it was before. What people who had the skill need to do instead of just scream into the void is that actually do something to show you have something that AI doesn’t. Thank you for coming to my TEDTalk
As a writer, this may be a spicy opinion, but I keep hearing fellow writers complaining about their work being stolen and all that jazz. I can understand the concern, but I think there’s some misplaced anger. Why get angry at AI when you could be getting angry at the people using it to steal your stories? And yeah, I think we can co-exist with AI, even if it becomes sentient somehow.
In my book using AI to make memes and funny things is cool, it can HELP with some jobs as well. Just make sure you tell others that it actually is AI, don't try to hide it. Using AI for "creative" things is missing the point of creativity. And as a certified gooner let me tell you all AI corn should be disintegrated it's the most generic slob ever
I think AI can benefit humanity, but unfortunately, at the moment, AI would mostly serve to eliminate entry-level service jobs. If it came with solid regulations, an increase of corporate taxes, and UBI, i wouldn't have any issues with AI taking over our jobs.
Also, Suno has a lot of potential, though it needs to be refined a bit. I had no problems making a Death Metal song about bacon poutine, but when I asked it to generate a Mongolian Throat song about swimming in mac and cheese, it turned it into a Irish Drinking song for some reason 😅 I guess that why it allows you to upload a song as inspiration I guess!
