      Wait so you said you turn hdr off, however on your setting it’s on? I’m confuse

    • @ChringyTechTalk
      @ChringyTechTalk  3 года назад +2

      HDR being on/off doesn't matter if you have "Allow 4K" disabled because the Xbox doesn't currently support HDR at native 1440P. I'm leaving it on in my settings with the hope that they do a quick update to fix it without telling anyone 😂. Leaving it on won't hurt. You can look in the OSD of the monitor and see that even if it's turned on in the Xbox settings, it's still SDR.
      Biggest thing is to make sure that downscaler isn't coming into play.

    • @TheMentalMKE
      @TheMentalMKE 3 года назад +4

      I purchased the same monitor for my son Xbox series s for x-mas and haven't had a chance to play with it yet.
      What I understand about the issue between the Xbox and some monitors is the EDID handshake what TV's tell the Xbox what it can accept. Isn't happening because the timing of the monitors and the 120hz doesn’t stay above 120hz.
      So the EDID handshake is like WTF, you can't do 1440p at 120hz. I believe that the issue. Now with that monitor the Display Port and the HDMI C Port can push out a max of 170hz. So those ports are unlikely to dip below 120hz. In theory.
      So you have to create the constant 120hz not 119hz or 165hz to 170hz to have the Xbox create the EDID handshake to have 1440p at 120hz.
      Now the options I'm going to attempt tomorrow is the HD Fury
      www.amazon.com/dp/B07VK2WSWN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_AUk5Fb8108Z7G
      That device works but at $100 you might be able to find a $500 monitor that doesn't have that issue.
      Club 3D 4K cable that this channel trying out at $32. In the reviews of the cable someone says it work. I thought I seen a RUclips video about this cable also that said it works at 120hz on the old Xboxs
      www.amazon.com/dp/B085YBR936/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_kWk5Fb8R9H3M8
      I also purchased this USB-C to Hdmi cable for that monitor. To use the USB-C Port you must switch the KMV to USB-port.
      www.amazon.com/dp/B07L882KQW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_7Uk5FbYGT7A3J
      With that cable I don't know if it work out right. But the Display Port and HDMI-C Port can go to 170hz. If that doesn't work.
      I use in my living room set up. 18gbps Matrix edid scaler switch. Which i use to get the Dolby Atmos sound from my devices like my Xbox Series X and I send the sound to my HTPC.
      I'll attempt to use if all else fails because I don't want to mess up my set up.
      I use a alexa routine, I say to "Play Dolby Atmos with Xbox" my HTCP plays the sound through the Matrix that sends it to my Fire TV cube that plays the Dolby Atmos through 2 Echo Studio and Echo sub.
      It's a nice cheap wireless setup but I went full need retard on it and I don't want to disturb it if I don't have too.

    • @ChringyTechTalk
      @ChringyTechTalk  3 года назад +3

      Great response... I'm still testing the adapter, but at the end of the day, this handshake issue is not going to be a "one solution fits all" (except maybe that Hdfury). For 32 bucks, it's with trying it the cheap adapter on the monitor and seeing if it works. I've only been able to get 1080p 120hz over DisplayPort so far but that's just using ones monitor. It has worked at 1440p 120hz on others. I need more monitors to test! 🤣

      thanks for the reply, im looking for a monitor to play on xbox one s , but i’ve seen that people have some problems with 27 inch.
      Are 24 inch monitors too little or they are ok?

      @@vandamas1998 I gamed on a 24 inch monitor for years! Just depends on the type of games and experience your going for. 24 inch TN panels with super low input lag and high refresh rate are great for competitive shooters. But they sacrifice on image quality.

    Hey man thx for all great content! So I have two questions 1. I have an acer ED3 1440p 144hz monitor, and I can’t get that 1440p 120hz on my series X. I have the same monitor connected to my PC through my display port and it gives me 1440p 144hz. I really confused about this. I would thank you tons if you can find us or “me” some answers on this issues. 2. What other monitors do you recommend for the next gen consoles ?

    • @ChringyTechTalk
      @ChringyTechTalk  3 года назад +1

      Hey! Unfortunately, it looks like the ACER ED3 is not compatible currently. I looked at the monitors resolution data table in the manual and it doesn't support 1440p 120hz.
      It supports 2560x1440 at 144hz but is not listed as 120hz compatible which means that the Xbox can't see this resolution. The monitor must have 1440P 120hz refresh rate in its EDID (Resolution Data). Xbox Support is looking into expanding support to help resolve this issue (similar to how a PC would handle the issue) at a software level however no solid plan yet.

      Regarding other recommended monitors - I added a list to the description with some that I know do 120hz. It really depends on your budget though! I'm super happy with the Gigabyte though!

    very good explanation, I looked for how to put the 120 fps, when doing what you say, it worked for me in warzone, but I really don't understand something, now on the monitor it works at 120 fps, but the hdr is disabled, is this ok? I really do not know what will help me more in this game, I would appreciate your comments about it

    I’ve tried everything under the sun and still can’t get 1440p 120hz to work on a ViewSonic VX2758-2kp- mhd. Someone please help!!!!!

    • @ChringyTechTalk
      @ChringyTechTalk  3 года назад

      Make sure you are using HDMI port #2 on that monitor. HDMI2 supports 120Hz and freesync range up to 144Hz. HMDI1 is capped at 75Hz which would not give you 1440P 120Hz. Make sure you do a full shutdown of the Xbox using the general settings menu after changing the ports. Then update the Xbox settings.

    Hey man, back again, I think I have decided to return my monitor and just buy this monitor since I know it will work with my Xbox series X. The only thing is that the 32 inch model is sold out everywhere I have looked, So I was wondering if the G27QC would work the exact same? Will it have the same features as the 32 inch model? Thanks!

    • @ChringyTechTalk
      @ChringyTechTalk  3 года назад

      Yeah just make sure you get the G27QC and not the G27Q (Q only has reported issues). They are mostly the same, few small differences.
