- In this video I'll show you the improved Microsoft 365 integration rolling out in ChromeOS making opening files from Microsoft 365 (previously 'Office 365', previously Microsoft Office!) from OneDrive within the ChromeOS Files app simple! This includes, Word, Excel and PowerPoint files all becoming more streamlined to open in ChormeOS.
Update - this feature has officially rolled out to Chromebooks in ChromeOS 127 in August 2024.

@@MergeDroid Thank you for your message. I plan to buy a budget Chromebook for travel and require these features - lightweight, small form factor, good battery life, micro sd card slot & FHD. I have been looking at reviews on your channel & other places. The Lenovo IdeaPad Flexi 3i 12.2" seems suitable, but is a bit heavier than I would prefer. It is currently on sale in Australia, so I will try to view it instore. I have a NPO MS 365 Business Account.
Excellent, it's a good option. I agree, it'd be nice if it was a little lighter, but it ticks all boxes, I think you'll be pleased. What retailer is it on offer with in Australia? @@MergeDroid I visited The Good Guys Store today to look at the Flex 3i 12.2" 4GB/128GB. Although slightly heavy, it is sturdy & well finished. I made the purchase, but haven't unboxed it yet - will probably do so tomorrow. It is on sale until 1 May for $229 (119 GBP). Apart from one Amazon store, there are no other retailers selling this device in Australia. I didn't see your reference to the Flip CM3 till just now. A search showed it is only available on Amazon - 4GB/32GB @ $698. It should be fun learning to use the new device. In the past, I have used a netbook, a tablet or only a phone when travelling.
@@MergeDroid I purchased the Flex i3 12.2" 4GB/128GB today at The Good Guys. Although slightly heavy, it appears to be well finished & sturdy. I haven't unboxed it yet - will do so tomorrow. Worked great! I followed another video to install the Microsoft 365 PWA. It worked like your video describes, with one exception that I was not able to remedy. When I would click on the Word app, the Word window opened in the PWA fine. But when I clicked on "new document", Word opened in the Chrome browser with the browser menus and bookmarks across the top. This took too much space away from the Word app and was distracting. I uninstalled the Microsoft 365 app and then followed your video step by step. After completing the steps, everything is working as is should and the Word and Excel apps open in their own PWA window. Thanks very much for the video that accomplished this process correctly.

I'm in version 124. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I activate the flag and reset. Then I try to open a local stored docx file and all I got is a screen saying to upload the docx file into GOOGLE DRIVE to open it instead the One Drive instalation or to copy to One Drive like in your video. So no way to installa One Drive. Any idea???
Hmmm, that's odd. Do you have M365 installed or did you even get the prompt/install for that?
@@MergeDroid I find out it myself. Right-click open in Office 365 and the installation starts. Then change the default option to open to Office 365 and... Done.

Thank youf or this! Have a weird kind of issue where I open the 365 PWA and click on a Word doc and it opens as well as Chrome web browser in the background. Otherwise its perfect on Chrome OS Flex.
No problem, glad it's useful. Odd issue as you say, maybe uninstall the Microsoft 365 app and reinstall, see if that may help. Good to know it's otherwise working in ChromeOS Flex too 👍

Thanks, good point. I think it's just a case of having to move them after though I'm afraid. Having an option for one default sub folder might be handy, but I guess would fit the likely more common use case of needing to move specific files to specific folders.

Keep up the good work with these kinds of videos! It would be great to see content on useful Chrome OS apps for productivity. Additionally, a video on setting up a new Chrome OS device and essential tasks for new Chromebook owners would be helpful. I've already ordered the Acer Spin 714 2022 model with an Intel Core i5 processor, 8 GB RAM, and 128 GB SSD. Considering it's not upgradeable, I'm thinking of getting a 256 GB SD card for more storage.any through is it a good choice?? Sir

If the Spin 714 has the MicroSD card slot, then that's not a bad option. I also quite like this solution - ruclips.net/user/shorts60Ngcm87ju4 Think about if you're likely to be wanting to copy/write files to the storage medium on any other machine you own, that might help determine the medium that's best. Also think a bit about what files you're likely to store and whether they're really needed on the Chromebook or possibly in cloud storage. why i can't see text word processing in files

After I enabled then it restart I open file and I go to download but I have no File that see

😂 Sorry. So do you mean you're using the file menu in the writer? That will only see the Linux Files directory so move your files to there. Sorry if I have misunderstood again 😎

Good day. Do I have to use onedrive or can i keep my files on the laptop? Can I run word offline?

It says " Can’t connect to OneDrive. Try again." what should i do ?
Start with some basics, can you login successfully to your OneDrive through the Chrome browser or via another machine?

I spoke too soon. Have ton restarted the Chromebook too? Also did you have the Microsoft 365 app installed already? Worth uninstalling that, then restart the Chromebook and try the process again.
