  • Removing/replacing the PS pump belt. This is applicable from 1995-2008 (4th, 5th, 5.5, 6th gens).
Put it together best I could from the crap footage I shot, at some point I may go back and do it over.

No, No; no need to redo anything. Thank you so much for taking the time to put this on youtube. This was a great help. Knowing which way to turn the belt tensioner bolt was very appreciated. Made this a simple job, thanks again.

Awesome, just completed my install. That bolt in the back size 14 mm as a pain in the butt. You save me at least 100 bucks. Beer 30 time now.

@snowboardfreak5264 The PS belt is the rearmost, so yes, you have to remove the AC/Alt belt first.

It seems to be completely inaccessible, but I generally use a flex head 14mm ratchet wrench (just for convenience). I believe I've gotten it done with a regular box end wrench before, but I wouldn't recommend it. You could also use a long extension and a swivel to reach it from underneath, but I don't know if you'd have enough clearance on jackstands.

The washer pump is a pretty easy DIY, though you may have to pull the RF fender liner back in order to gain access.

hey i have the same car every time i turn the steering wheel wile driven it makes a sqealing sound wat dose that sound meen is the belt loose and just to be tighten up or is the power steering pump bad???? need help

The washer pump and wiper motor are both powered from fuse 20 (labeled 'WIPER'), a 20A fuse in the interior fuse box. The pump is then grounded by the BCM when you pull the wiper stalk backwards.
If your wiper motor works, you know the fuse is good. Check for power at pin 1 of the washer pump, and a ground signal at pin 2 when you pull back on the stalk. You could also just run jumper wires and power it manually, polarity doesn't matter for testing.

It really depends on what exactly it sounds like. Belt noise and power steering pump noise are generally two very distinctly different sounds. Check the belt and make sure it isn't loose, you could also spray the belt down with a lube and see if the noise goes away temporarily, if so you've narrowed it down. I've found silicone spray to work well for a quick belt diagnosis.

There's no water and no pump sound when windscreen washer is activated. Is there a fuse for this or will I need a new washer motor? Is it an easy job to replace as I can't see it anywhere? Question not relevant to this video sorry.

You don't have to remove the wheel, but it makes it much easier if you don't have a lift.
There should be a splash shield in that fenderwell, mine is long gone. IIRC, it's just a clip and a bolt or two to remove.

Did you have to take off the serpentine belt for this?

Holy Cow! That bolt behind the PS is a PITA. I think it would be easier to remove bras that get that thing. Two hrs at it and I'm stopping for the night. I'll try again tomorrow.
I wonder if there is a special tool made just to get that bolt.

+3ABTPA It is kind of a pain, but if I've got it on a lift, a long extension and a swivel socket works pretty well. Otherwise, a long ratchet wrench does well, but still a pain to get to.

How about the pump bud, how does one change that? Mines is leaking in that area. PSP, WP, Axle boots and seals and the EGR vacuum solenoid, inner tie rod, are all failing at once $$$$$$$$$ is all see.

+Marktheshark804 The pump itself is a major PITA, just getting the bolts lined up to the timing cover was always a major hassle for me, much less getting the damn lines on in place.
I don't see doing this job on video in the foreseeable future.
