That was so cool, I had no idea you were filming all that! You really did a beautiful job mixing in Bourdain's experience and ours. I'm so glad we had the time together. Now, I'm really missing those delicious croissants, ready to go back? Love you ♥
Thank you for this beautiful homage! A suggestion for those who would like to visit France: look for Bistros, or cafes - smaller sized businesses, with a smaller selection of dishes than a restaurant, and perhaps "plats du jour" - "today's dishes". The kitchens of those establishments usually have a nice personal touch, and an unexpected quality.
i really love this channel it was just last week when i clicked on a video because i had no idea what duck a'lorange was your editing/sound quality is absolutely pro and i think most people don't appreciate that kinda stuff, but its hard work! secondly, your personality and dry sense of humor are amazing, and you are so approachable as you don't act like youre some kind of authority on anything, just a guy with a mission sharing your mistakes and successes its an absolutely amazing way to learn from you as you have no pretentious hob-nobbery your videos are fucking binge-worthy i know cause ive watched about an hour of your content every day for the last week and i have learned so much! and you present all of this information in a super-chill approachable manner thank you, and never stop doing this you are on the right track one of your videos is gonna explode soon and youre going to have this entire treasure chest of badass content and your channel will explode one day over night KEEP GOING I BELIEVE IN YOU!
Have fun, Paris will not disappoint! I followed his trail in NY in 2012, including a visit to Brasserie Les Halles, and I think it's a great way to honor his memory and vision of the world.
Season 2 of the Mitch Mai experience!! Bro, amazing production, your tribute to the man continues to evolve before our eyes. I hope your trip was incredible!
Mitch this was an awesome episode, the words of Anthony at the end are so profound and beautiful, you revisiting the same places as the man himself 20 years from that time feels like a movie. Like we are in Midnight in Paris. And to be able to do it with your mom, I am sure those memories will last forever. Awesome chanel, looking forward for more!
Donation made Mitch. That man meant so much to me learning about food and culture throughout my life, it's fun to see the next generation retracing his path!
Thanks for this video, charming homage and appreciated your humor as always! This one was great for being a travel vlog. Shout out to your mum. Great she could be there for you and enjoy the experience. Is there a follow up act to Bordain once you have cooked all his recipes?
I spent a month in Paris over Christmas, and I really, really wish I had your video to guide me. Not that I didn't have a spectacular time. (I stayed in an apartment two blocks from the café with all the pink flowers). J'adore! Thank you, Mitch!!
This reminded me of making French bread as one of my kitchen endeavors growing up. There’s nothing better than fresh baked French bread. Great video and editing ❤
Bravo, Mitch! Great job ! I can only imagine filming in Paris, let alone in a Parisian restaurant , had its awkward moments for sure but im glad you stuck to it. That Paris show is easily one of my favourite No Reservations episodes, if simply that it was the gateway drug which led me down Mr. Bourdain's rabbit hole of travel , culture and food philosophies. It led to my own significant admiration for Bourdain and his TV series where I became a self-proclaimed food and travel disciple of his. It ultimately led to my own love of traveling the world by my stomach and opened my mind drastically. I've been lucky to visit Paris many times (not to mention many other places heavily inspired by Tony) and it was my first destination I ever visited traveling solo. I fell in love with Paris immediately. Thanks again for sharing your love of Anthony Bourdain and his love of cooking and travel . It took me several years before I could watch another episode of his after his death, as it was just too painful. It was a strange feeling for me, given I never met the man nor have ever been that affected by the death of a celebriity, but his impact on my life and how I see the world was huge and it made me a better person. Hearing his voice on your channel always brings a smile to my face. Im grateful for your show, your humbleness, humour and the genuine love you show for the man. Keep up the great work! . Big Fan!
Hey Mitch, glad you enjoyed your trip to my country, looks like you had a good time and good eats over there ! About that bar that charged you for entry but not the girls, I actually don't think you got taken for a ride, it's very common here for the girls to get in for free in the clubs and stuff, and for the guys to have to pay an entrance fee. 25€ seems pretty fucking steep just to get in though, but I guess that's Paris for ya !
Thanks it really was a pleasure. Yeah as far as the bar, I’m pretty used to the fee of guys vs girls but I couldn’t help but think some of that €25 would have been pocketed :(
The pastry you ate and didn't know the name, its a Cannelé, small French pastry flavored with rum and vanilla with a soft and tender custard center and a dark, thick caramelized crust. Its a specialty from Bordeaux and the Southwest part of France. Thank you for your amazing video and for mention my tour on it :D
Thank you Silvia! It really was a pleasure. I'm sad the audio didn't record, but I'm glad I could include the tour for those interested. When friends of mine travel to to Paris, I'll be sure to mention your tour
Mitch…BRAVO‼(spoken in French‼) So wonderful a tour that you graciously shared with us, your fans‼ Thank you‼A coffee for you…☕‼ Gladys🇨🇦Toronto🇨🇦Canada‼
I miss Anthony Bourdain ❤❤❤ Loved his book, Kitchen Confidential, its a life changer. I was actually revisiting his Parts Unknown series last night.....😢
What an experience to follow in the steps of the man himself! I was in Hanoi, Vietnam a couple of years ago and ate at the restaurant he went to with Obama and it totally exceeded my expectations. Love the videos man keep going!
I went to Chez Denise about 15 years ago and had the same main dish as you did - the fegato. Don't recall whether I also had snails. The dish to get there is the cote de beauf for two with the marrow bones.
To be fair, Bourdain did have a film crew with him. Great job replicating it with just you and your mom, while putting your own spin to things (like not completely following Bourdain's meals in each stop). Hope more people subscribe to you like I do
Oh man! So happy for you getting over there. Was this your first time anywhere abroad? You are inspiring me to step outside my cooking comfort zone like making a pan sauce or creme brulee. Next up... pastry for quiches and English style meat pies. Keep up the good work!
I haven’t watched Bourdain since what happened. I was sad and angry and disappointed. I’ll never understand but I know that in my mindset I just can’t. Your video was a great tribute. Well done. It makes me want to watch his videos again. All said, bourdain was not a bullshitter. He was honest and straightforward. Still upset he didn’t like abba though. Everyone likes abba!!! Keep making videos dude you’re good at it!
so happy you had this experience. i think baking well, even bread, is truly the gift. evades me. if i had one kitchen dream, it would be as a world class saucier. ... oh the butter, the gravy. the lifeblood of the palate. and you have such a great mom! enviable life you lead these days. and such an expert presentation. had to have soup au vin watching this and pretend it was made with authentic bordeaux, eaten under the shadow of the eiffel. best regards, jersey neighbor!
Hey! Just a head's up: it's actually illegal to film people without their consent in France (if they walk by while you are filming yourself it's no problem, but you probably shouldn't film them specifically). In reality no one really cares, but it's generally good practice to ask people before hand! I hope you enjoyed your trip in Paris!
Best city in the world, next time you're passing through, drop by Le P'Tit Garage for a few hours late in the evening. Fantastic RUclips channel young man.
I’m glad you went. I will say. There are so many more interesting places to go. When I was in Hanoi. I was a block away from where Anthony was filming with Barack Obama. What I noticed. He never went to the best places. He just wanted to show authentic places. The other thing i found in Paris. Most places that influencers go to. Are cheaper or Ramen. Their palates are not refined. I like going where no English is spoken in restaurants. I wish Americans would understand. That not all people speak English, but they usually speak fluently in at least four or five different languages. Also the amount of waitstaff. Unless going to temples of gastronomy. Have a 1/4 of people serving, bussing, and clearing tables, all while waiting. So please have patients.
That was so cool, I had no idea you were filming all that! You really did a beautiful job mixing in Bourdain's experience and ours. I'm so glad we had the time together. Now, I'm really missing those delicious croissants, ready to go back? Love you ♥
Well, you recorded a lot too hehe. You are indeed the croissant queen. Love ya too Mother 💜
Oh yeah, you’re right. Vive le croissants!
Your mother is gorgeous.

GREAT video. God, Bourdain was such a loss. The end of this made me tear up a bit!

Fantastic stuff! Really love that you are following his steps. Cannot wait for more of these!
Thanks I appreciate it. I can’t guarantee I’ll continue to travel where he did, but I loved making this.
