    Thank you for admitting that the most important thing is the color-I feel the same-I’ll probably get one this year since models of interest come in bolt.

    There is no way the Brompton 6spd has a 3 pounds of weight saving compared to a regular 6 spd. A shimano Alfine 11 weighs 3,4 pds, so unless the Brompton gear system is weightless, the numbers are completely off and weight saving is absolutely not the reason Brompton uses this weird combo that makes shifting unnecessarily cumbersome because you need to use 2 shifters all the time, because they are each separetely controlling the 2 and 3 spd system.

    I do love the Brompton for portability, but I sold mine because the steering is too twitchy.

    On two of the lines he describes 3 different handlebar types, yet in the pictures there seems to be only 2 types of handlebars. One seems to have a longer stem though. I hope Brompton has found pop off pedals that actually work, because for me they make more sense than folding. Unfortunately the most common ones on the internet have a lifespan you can measure in weeks.

    I’m 74 and eyeing the P for slow travel in sometimes hilly areas. However, the P’s gear range favors speed over climbing ability. Is there any retrofit to lower the gearing significantly? Different chainring and/or rear sprockets?

    • @HAVATITE
      @HAVATITE 4 месяца назад +2

      i think there's an aftermarket manual 2 speed chainring for brompton. look it up

    • @NoZenith
      @NoZenith 2 месяца назад +1

      Yes everything you're asking is available. Brompton is even coming out with a 12-speed gear system instead of the 6-speed gear system and it will be available on the P line ..... depending on your budget I would also recommend looking up the sclumpf drive

    Smh.
    Incredible how people found a video that was clear in its title, "Brompton Bicycle 2024 buyers guide". Then filled the comments asking for a completely different video that compares the bikes to cheaper bikes with cheaper parts.
    Think for a day, or two days, before commenting if your reading comprehension is very poor. It will be better for everyone on RUclips. Thanks
    ≠=================≠
    To appease the trolls with zero reading comprehension:
    Zizzo is a great deal, great bike, some very cheap parts that real riders would upgrade. Changes the price. Still a great deal.
    Montague is a fast bike, good prices. But, you get into puzzling mediocrity in higher end models. Not the greatest parts on the models that get into the price range of the Bromptons. I am not impressed by Montague specs. Breaks, shifters etc on higher end models are disappointing compared to the way the trolls were raving about them in the comments.
    The anecdotal race comments are pathetic.
    Did the ither rider agree to race you? I didn't think so. It means NOTHING to overtake another bicycle on the road.

    Just get the cheapest 2, or rather 1 speed C line. The crap non functional plastic 'gearing' dropped off in the rainy dark after a year. Also hardy tires as after a puncture the inner tube bulges out and bursts through the sidewalls, so you have to buy a new inner tube each time. The electric is too slow, I have overtaken them twice, as are the three and 6 speeds. For fast travel just get the C line 2(1) speed. They are not racing bikes; my high end M-M steel racer will cream the P and T line, and was nearly half the price of the T line.

      A heavy rolling, small wheeled Brompton is an item for easy, mixed transport and definitely not a - proper bike!!!
      If in need of such buy a US Montague, Army bike, ½ folding bike.
      My now much modified, 2019 SuperlightM6LXBrompton (of course with mudguards, as a Rainy Dane!) for now weighs 8,5 kilo, and still falling with some extra work and modifications on my mudguards and the handlebar! About the same as a 4 speed, double priced T-line! Finn. Denmark

      The plastic un fantastic 'gearing' is I believe common through the C/P and T lines. I'd say it's a proper bike in it's niche, which is by and large not getting stolen when you go on a ride. I rate it's range at around 20 miles but most of my rides are under 10. It tops out at 24 mph so mostly I'm at 16-23 mph. I like single speeds so no worries there that I can't change gear, and of course it can't climb but I also have a racing bike so will not be going up the Brompton line or be making expensive weight savings to my C line, but they make perfect sense if you only ride Brompton's. I'd be carving the weight off my C line too if that was the case. @@finncarlbomholtsrensen1188

    BROMPTON ELECTRIC. "THE WORLDS MOST UNRELIABLE BIKE?”.. Both of my Electric Brompton"s continuously keep braking down. The poor quality bearings & electronics keep failing. Brompton knows about this. But just keeps replacing them with same the parts. Buy yourself several Chines copies for the same price. Or better still a Honda CBR 125cc motorcycle for the same price. Feel less disappointed & save yourself a fortune.
