I was especially afraid of what my dad might say, as he is extremely opposed to being public on the internet... (To clarify: I started my RUclips this year on my 25th birthday.) I know he knows I'm on RUclips, but he never mentions it. So basically I had no backlash from the person I most expected it from, and my mother was just super happy/proud. ❤ I have a good bunch of friends supporting me, and other than that no one says anything, so all my fears of "what will others think?" were unnecessary! On top of that I made new friends and I feel that it helps me grow as a person too, so as Muchelle said: I only "regret" not starting earlier! 😉
I started my RUclips channel 2 days ago and I think what helped me get past the fear of starting was loving and accepting myself. I also found that when I wasn’t as judgemental of myself I wasn’t afraid of being judged

There is a whole world out there of all different kinds of talents and personalities. If you believe in yourself and stay true to yourself, there WILL be people who want to support you! There’s enough room for success for everybody. It is a long process because the good things in life don’t come easy, but if you do it because you truly love it and have goals that go beyond youtube for example, like making a huge impact in the world with your personal brand, then not even fear should be holding you back. 💗 find that fire within you and go all in on your dreams and passions!
I just came across this video. It is the New Year and I have been contemplating for over a year now to start a channel. I am also a perfectionist and always question myself. I think the thing that is holding me back mostly is the editing and all the technical aspects. I am 61 and these things don't come easy to me. I am a makeup artist and image cosultant and love teaching. However I am encouraged and this is the year for me!!!
It took me years to find the courage to start a channel, I always thought I could never be great at it. But it's the best thing I've done! Found so much confidence in myself :)

Definitely just doing it! I had a little channel all about animal care, sucked at regular uploading, didn't know how to edit, got pregnant, had a baby, life happened. Now baby is over a year old, pregnant again and I got the itch to start doing videos again. Found your channel and have taken your advice to heart. 💕 Making videos I want to make, creating thumbnails, learning how to edit (even if it is only imovie '10 😅), but basically just having fun with it and trying to stop worrying about all the rest. Doing it because I enjoy it, not for some big end result. Enjoying the journey basically.

This channel is seriously so helpful! I’m that girl who’s been wanting to start a channel for 5+years and always just buried it. This week I’ve made the decision to begin pre-filming so I can develop a consistent schedule. With this platform, I can live a life doing what I love by expressing my creativity and further develop my passions in media and marketing. Wish me luck ☺️
The only thing that holds me back is not being confident I'll be able to stay consistent. I have a busy life and feel so exhausted half the time I'm not sure I could keep it up. I know I have the skills and would like to share them with others as I had a store years ago and taught very successful how to classes. I just wish I had more free time "and didn't need to work for a living" so I could do You Tube full time... guess I just need to bite the bullet and just do it. *I'm sooo glad I started my channel* it's so much fun! I was so scared of what people(especially family and friends) would say so I kept my channel a secret but once they found out they were very supportive. They have subd to my channel. I realized there is nothing to be scared of.

I'm in the process of starting a YT channel (as you can see I haven't even uploaded a pic yet) and my biggest obstacle is seeing myself on camera. I filmed an intro video then deleted all the footage because I couldn't stand the way I looked. It's odd because I don't normally feel this way about myself. This video has encouraged me to keep pushing through this fear and get what I feel is a really important message out into the world. Thanks again!

Being upfront and excited about launching a channel/blog is such great advice! I was really nervous about what one friend would think about my content. I was terrified about that judgement. So as an exposure-therapy-esque experiment, I called another friend who I share EVERYTHING with and told him (excitedly) about my new project. I told him my vision and he was so excited with me! That really helped remind me that even though my imagination/anxiety is telling me that things will go terribly, things can unexpectedly go well too! Also if you don't have a person in mind who you could tell IRL, you could tell another small creator online and get support!

I start my RUclips Channel right now ( start to film in less then 5 minutes) and Iam so exited and a bit afraid :). I was very shy, awkward, and was pushing everything off until I had the "perfect setup," which won't ever happen. So I started just a month ago. This video couldn't have come at a more perfect time. I have been wrestling with the idea of finally getting in front of a camera and talking (notice how all of my videos so far are voice overs, and I'm even publishing another voice over video tomorrow). I've even gone back and forth in my head about posting the video for tomorrow, thinking about how much I hated the auto exposure, how yellow everything looked, and how I did my voice over. But done is better than perfect! Watching this really made me feel better about posting something I wasn't 100% happy with.
Great Vid Michelle 👍🏾 I was really scared 😱😱😱 before I started my Channel I remember my first vid 🤭🙈 😂 I felt silly like I was talking to myself. As the weeks progressed and I started gaining more subscribers I felt more and more relaxed. The key is just start! Like Michelle said it’s as simple as that! I have no fancy equipment I just have my I phone a window , tripod and a chair lol 😂 When you first start you don’t need loads of equipment the most important thing I believe is consistency and being yourself. I upload once a week but will aim to extend that in the new year. It’s so fun and I’ve connected with some really cool people in my community but it is also hard work. My advise to anyone wanted to start RUclips Channel is.....JUST START RIGHT NOW!!!'....NOT NEXT WEEK NOT NEXT YEAR RIGHT NOW!!!!!! When I first started watching YT, I used to be afraid of leaving comments on You Tubers channels ( I leave positive ones of course), but now I am comfortable doing that. So as an exposure-therapy-esque experiment, I called another friend who I share EVERYTHING with and told him (excitedly) about my new project. I told him my vision and he was so excited with me! That really helped remind me that even though my imagination/anxiety is telling me that things will go terribly, things can unexpectedly go well too!
Also if you don't have a person in mind who you could tell IRL, you could tell another small creator online and get support!

I've wanted to start a RUclips channel for over 10 years.. now, since graduating high school, I've made it a goal to pursue RUclips for real. My problem is that I always feel unprepared to begin! Hey!! I just found this channel and watched this video! very informational and accurate haha, this was basically me, before I started RUclips! I was very shy, awkward, and was pushing everything off until I had the "perfect setup," which won't ever happen. So I started just a month ago. This video couldn't have come at a more perfect time. I have been wrestling with the idea of finally getting in front of a camera and talking (notice how all of my videos so far are voice overs, and I'm even publishing another voice over video tomorrow). I've even gone back and forth in my head about posting the video for tomorrow, thinking about how much I hated the auto exposure, how yellow everything looked, and how I did my voice over. But done is better than perfect! Watching this really made me feel better about posting something I wasn't 100% happy with.
Great Vid Michelle 👍🏾 I was really scared 😱😱😱 before I started my Channel I remember my first vid 🤭🙈 😂 I felt silly like I was talking to myself. As the weeks progressed and I started gaining more subscribers I felt more and more relaxed. The key is just start! Like Michelle said it’s as simple as that! I have no fancy equipment I just have my I phone a window , tripod and a chair lol 😂
When you first start you don’t need loads of equipment the most important thing I believe is consistency and being yourself. I upload once a week but will aim to extend that in the new year. It’s so fun and I’ve connected with some really cool people in my community but it is also hard work.
My advise to anyone wanted to start RUclips Channel is.....JUST START RIGHT NOW!!!'....NOT NEXT WEEK NOT NEXT YEAR RIGHT NOW!!!!!! GO ON WHAT YOU WAITING FOR!!!!!!!🤷🏾♀️ wishing you all the very best on your New Channels! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😉😆

Great advice my friend. I recently wanted to start a YT channel, but wasn't sure what to do. When I first started watching YT, I used to be afraid of leaving comments on You Tubers channels ( I leave positive ones of course), but now I am comfortable doing that. Now I want to take the next step in starting my channel. :)
I did youtube once but I got bullied real bad at school but now I started and I don't care anymore I just gonna do want makes me happy don't listen to anyone who hates you you should do youtube believe me

I have all of these fears. I just decided to start my channel again and my biggest fear was people i know will watch my videos because i feel so stupid. I used to upload videos and a girl told me she saw my video and i panicked and hid all of my videos. Haha thanks for the video. This is so true! I am excited to start uploading.

I think we've all had some of these 'fears' to overcome in front of the camera, tbh I've only just started getting over them but I now think of my channel more as a business platform and that has helped me massively! I have started my RUclips channel because of all the things that happened in my life (break up, depression,...) and it helps me a little bit more happy :) Now I know my video sucks but I am learning to enjoy the journey and hopefully I will gey better ^^ Taking in all the information I can get my hands on so this involves binge watching this channel 😂
Agh Michelle, I love you. You are possibly the only person that could kick my ass into doing this. Fear stops me all the time. I'm moving to Paris for a year in September, and I think that's when I'll start... or am I just putting it off. Hahahah, who knows...
