Thanks for the video. Hard to believe, but my OEM battery lasted 9 years! The first sign the battery was dieing was the remote start would not turn over. Manual start still worked but I knew it was a matter of time before the battery was completely dead. Anyway, I have an OEM amplifier mounted under my seat that was part of the premium sound package. Knowing that a world of hurt was waiting, I opted to just unbolt the seat. Using a 15mm socket, I took the four bolts out (2 front, 2 rear) and leaned the seat back. Once the seat was removed/leaned back, it opened up the space to work. At that point it was simple, like a typical under-the-hood type battery. Took less than ten minutes. I highly recommend just unbolting the seat. It also gave me an opportunity to vacuum places that are tough to get to with the seat in place. Probably saved me some back pain too!
First time searching how to change this battery and the first comment I see is literally someone that dealt with the same thing lol crazy! Mine too is going on 9 years, it will actually be 9 years in two weeks! The first sign was also my remote start not working! I didn't think it was the battery right away since it's been going so well and I check on it here and there. Then I tried the remote start again the following morning and figured it had to be something with the battery voltage. So I'm also in the same boat. Thank you for suggesting removing the seat, something to consider!
Yes it is, but I believe you. I have a 2015 I purchased new and this is my 1st battery replacement. Great tip on removing the seat. It too all of 5 minutes to remove the seat.
What about resting the BMS after battery install?? I have a 2015 JGC overland with a high altitude package. I used a battery saver to install the new battery but I’m hearing stories of having to reset the battery control module or battery control system or Engine control system after installing the new battery BEFORE you even drive or start the car! Help does a AGM battery on a 2015 JGC need a BMS reset ?
I did not need to reset anything. Vehicle did not require reset on my model. I’ve done 5 now and did not need to reset. I hope this helps. I appreciate the feedback 👍
Help tips: after you remove the negative cable, temporarily cover the post with the black terminal cap from the new battery so while you are moving stuff around the negative cable doesnt touch and spark. Also, the new batteries come with a red plastic cover on the positive, but there is a little red plug attached to that cover that you are supposed to break or cut off and use it to plug the vent hole on the side of the battery opposite the side that you plug the vent tube into.....
For vehicle applications that have the battery installed inside the passenger compartment of a vehicle, it is imperative the battery be vented properly. For those applications that have a single vent tube, the opposing vent opening on the battery cover must be plugged with the included vent hole plug. I hope this helps. I appreciate the feedback 👍
I had to use a jump box and move seat forward. My vehicle did not need seat removed. Had plenty of room. I hope this helps. I appreciate the feedback. 👍
For the 2015 overland the seat doesn’t pull fwd enough so you have to turn the battery sideways to get it out. Doesn’t come out as easy as you show in the video. Many f bombs and bloody knuckles before I figured that out but thanks for sharing none the less.
@@HowIFixedIt soon need to replace both main and auxiliary.. wonder if I should do it separately.. once I unplug auxiliary..would anything important reset?? Any advice would be helpful .. jeep is paid off.. don't know if that helps.
I had to use a jump box to give power and then I just used the controls on the seat to move. May need to remove seat if you can’t get power to the cable’s. I hope this helps. I appreciate the feedback 👍
I just replaced my battery on my 2015 GC and now my Uconnect screen won’t turn on at all. Has this happened to anyone else? And anyone know how to fix it?
I have read in some places that you need to maintain power during the battery change to avoid computer system problems, but I can't seem to find an official reference anywhere regarding the 2015 Jeep GC.
Great catch man. I didn’t notice until I started the vehicle and the charge signal was not present. You are the first to notice. Probably the first to watch all the way through. Good job man. Thank you for the feedback. I appreciate it 🤙

What is the black nozzle next to the negative terminal? I broke mine installing the new battery.

Does the seat need to be removed to get access to battety?
I didn’t need to remove the seat. Some people have said they had too though. I hope this helps. I appreciate the feedback 👍
Auto repair said they need to remove the seat. Does the seat move forward enough on the Limited to replace the batery?

Need to replace mine. Does Auto shop have this battery or only Dealer? Thanks
They carry the vehicle battery. I hope this helps. I appreciate the feedback 👍
Thank you, sir.
Thank you. I appreciate the kind words and feedback 👍
What’s that cable that is connected to the negative terminal? The one that has two red cables? I accidentally ripped it off
Ground signal wire. Can be repaired. I hope this helps. Thank you for the feedback. I appreciate it 👍

Bloody knuckles too man. Definitely an interesting spot to put a battery. Thank you for the feedback 👍
Seat all the way forward and all the way up.

Yea 👍
Thank you for this video. This is my current situation and I cannot get into the Dealer until Tuesday!! I may have to take matters into my own hands.

Check the fuses. Probably accidentally burn one during ground.

Seen that too
I also noticed you mumbled the majic words while working on these jeeps 😂
Why did they put the battery there?? I’m going to sell my jeep the moment my battery shows signs of failure.
Haha, you got me man. Running out of room under the hood for accessory BS. Only place left besides rear compartment or trunk area. 🤔
That's exactly what I thought 🤣🤣
It's actually easy to access
getting to the starter is no joke either.
It's actually very easy to change
