Great work! I apply my die with a dobber using a swirling motion, it comes out pretty good. Also, not to pile on lol. I would recommend getting a large super high density polyethylene plastic cutting board. The blade will last a lot longer than cutting on your table.
I enjoyed the out takes. Everything I make has at least a little mistake in it. There’s always thought and unintended qualities that make a project personal. Great work and well thought out!
Dude. That is brilliant. It’s also scary. I was thinking about this very problem this morning. To myself 😳😬 I do a lot of farm fencing and have always tried to find something ready made. And never found anything that is as bespoke as this. Fortunately one of my customers has a big livery yard. So I should be able to find off cuts of leather. Which makes a project even more satisfying when you can re-porpoise stuff. I’m deffo going to have a go at it. Most excellent 👌🍀
Great minds think alike. Lol. I also looked around for something similar and found nothing. Its awesome to be able to repurpose things to create something that never existed before. You need to make yourself something like this. Its so much more convienent, plus, no more torn jeans from the fence pliers.
@@homebuiltshop it’s something I say often. Especially in farming or as fir myself a contractor, you often need a specialised piece of equipment to do a specific job. Especially when you are on pricework, whether it’s payment by the ton or by the metre. You need to be able speed the job up for yourself. Just be careful your not pricing yourself out of any profit! Not sure if your wire cutters are Knipex. But they look similar to some I bought from New Zealand which are really good. I’ve also got some wire strainers from Oz with strain gauges on them. Which are top, top quality. Also. I get what your saying about making things that take a bit of thought and a different process. I do that with Japanese joinery. Although I work with timber all week. In my spare time when I’m not riding. I love cutting some slow dovetails joints. 🤘🍀
That turned out really great! I have been getting more in to leather work. It's very satisfying. Really love those knipex cobolts too, they are really good at what they do.
The feibings pro penetrates and flows pretty well and does better than regular feibings and the tandy ecoflow dyes in my opinion. I do agree with dyeng when the leather is wet is the way to go.
If you want to "rush" the break in of the pockets, use some warm water in the inside of the tool pockets. Insert the tools, then tap a shallow angle wedge behind the tool. Leave the wedge in place until the leather is dry. If you need it a little looser, use the same process, but insert a steeper angle wedge until you get the result you want.
Thats a great tip. Thanks for sharing. I have been working the tools in the pockets and it seems to be loosening up good. I may try this if its still snug though.
Thank you that was great, I might get into leather. The only thing I would have liked to see is a drain hole should you get stuck in the rain for a minute.
Thanks. I suppose it depends on whats in the toolkit. You'll likely need a punch to make some rivet holes and possibly something to set the rivets or you could use Chicago Screws.
When I don't want them to come loose, I'll put a drop of wood glue on the threads. It can still be removed, but helps hold it tight. Loctite will work, just be sure to use the one thats removeable if you need to. I have a leather supply shop in my area that has a lot of supplies on hand. Check around for a Tandy Leather or maybe a local leather craftsman.
Nice work Jeff !!! .... you must have every tool there is. I do have a question though. What type of thread do you use ? I wondered if you use waxed thread ? If I can ever manage to get down to the "big city" again I have to pick up some hide ...I still want to make a knife sheath for my pocket knife.
Thanks man, There are still plenty of tools I don't have yet. lol. I am using waxed thread. Its pretty much all I've ever used. I like it a lot. You can always order the leather but if you're like me, I like to hold it so I can get a good feel for the weight.
That turned out great really I loved it inspired me to do the same thing for my fence pliers.. I was looking on eBay about that leather what thicknesses is that .. so I can buy some 👍
Hi everybody ni vid brother! What is the name of a nice leather to make pouches like this and the thickness? i want my pouches to last long!!!! Please!
For your information and to help next time if you think ahead and put the hammer belt on first before gluing the pouch together you can avoid the fiddle on those rivets... just a thought would have saved you time and effort..
Thanks for the step by step instruction. It was cool how you formed the shape of the pockets with the plywood forms.
Thanks, Wet molding leather is so fun.
Beautiful work, my friend. (Love it because it's a "duty purpose"pouch).
Looks good, I just picked up some rainbow thread, used it making the daughter some bracelets, made them look good.
Thats awesome. There are so many options with threads too.
Great Pouch!!! I have made the same mistakes. lol. Now after watching you video I better start my own project. Great inspiration. Keep it up. Cheers
Awesome! Thank you!

The cutters are Knipex. They work awesome.
@@homebuiltshop yeah. I have a few pairs of Knipex pliers and cutters. For the life of me I can’t remember what the Kiwi ones are. But very similar 👍🍀
The Occidental 5520 5 in 1 tool pouch is the way to go for fencing
I just checked that one out, it does look like it would work well.
Awesome job. Those mouldings turne out sweet.
Thanks Andy, I'm super happy with the way it turned out. Its like Christmas when you remove the wooden mold and see how it looks.
I made a sheath for my hatchet resto, you are right very satisfying.nice to have small specific tool kits ready to grab and go.
ooh this one is you as well ;) love these organizers. will help a lot!
I like to carry a small coil of repair wire, haywire klamper, and some spare staples too. I think yours can easily be adapted to allow for that
I usually have a little roll of wire as well. It wouldn't be too hard to make an attachment for the wire.

BEAUTIFUL JOB!!!
Thank you! 😊
Regarding the dyeing problems. If the dye is alcohol based, it works well to apply it when the leather is wet and it will flow more evenly.
Thanks, I'll have to test that out. I haven't had this issue before.
Yes; and I apply the dye with the foam brushes, I get from Michaels or joans .
It’s better to add nearsfoot oil instead of water then add the dye as this kills two birds with one stone and keep the leather pliable and not dry...

Awesome job I like it. Can't wait to see the CNC in action.
Thanks Buddy, I'm working on it. Stay Tuned.

This is awesome looking!! Makes me want to try to make one. Do you think it’s possible to make a holster out of leather for a Milwaukee impact driver?
Love the T-shirt!
Its a good one!
Came out awesome.
Thanks my friend.
Keep going Jeff looking great
Thanks!
Beautiful
Thank You!
Really really nice 👍
Thank You so much!
Nice man I want to do a hammer holder on my occidental tool bags. Ima give it a shot. Would a basic leather working kit get me buy?
Thanks

@@homebuiltshop Can you add thread lock on Chicago screws? Other then on line wear to you get leather and leather making stuff.

I believe this is around a 5-6oz or so. It's what I had on hand. I think a size thicker would be good too. That's awesome you're making one. 👍
