In Arjun Reddy the Writer/Director had planted few setups subconsciously that the baby will be of Arjun Reddy in Two Scenes which payoff during climax.
    1. shiva will always be telling Arjun that it's been 4 months since preethi's marriage and so on, because Writer knows that Preethi is Pregnant(but we don't see her)
    2. While Sitting for a drink with his brother after fighting in his apartment Arjun asks his brother about his marriage life and for that his brother says they are not planning to have right now, for that Arjun says that nobody should plan these kind of things it should happen out of love(because Preethi and Arjun had made love at his parents house when they last met which happened out of love and unplanned)

In Arjun reddy the problem of Anger management and his toxic behaviour were mentioned yes We agree. But the same time it was ”glorified ” with Wana woww woww BGM and all to make the character more Heroic. His action towards the girl , his rudeness, violent behaviour becomes a Heroic material.. somehow it portrayed girls will fall for this kind of man instead of the guy who respects her feelings😅😅

I personally think for a better screenplay the character Arjun has to be glorified to have the impact when he hits rock bottom.
The director wants to showcase his life Hero to Zero. All his actions in the first half if shown in negative light it will be zero to zero. The entire story will be a flat line and dark which doesn’t go well with commercial cinema. It might be morally correct but it will not be an engaging story line. All that bgm and the glorification should be seen from Arjun’s perspective. As BR told, he is an alpha guy, he thinks highly of himself and keeps him above others and the bgm justifies that. But once his downfall starts we realise all his flaws. There is one scene at the end which no one talks about where one of the women in Arjuns friends gang doesn’t step into Arjuns home. She talks to him staying outside his house. When he approaches her she moves away and Arjun asks her if she is afraid of him. That moment clearly shows how low did Arjun get in his life. Your own friend is afraid of you. All of these are the consequences of his behaviour in the first half. Through out the movie if you look at Arjun one can clearly say that he is very arrogant and self centric. But the ending shot at his house when Preeti’s father visit them you don’t see that on his face which indicates Arjun has changed and he is not the same guy anymore.
My only major gripe with this movie was that he didn’t say sorry to Preeti at the end for what he has done to her.

The problem was not with his anger management and its depiction, the movie glorified toxicity and misogynistic behaviour. Thousands of people believed that it is okay with girlfriends and boyfriends slapping each other when they do something wrong. The heroine was stalked, dragged from classrooms. Almost inorganically made to fall in love with him. I am not even half done.

I think the problem here is that particular said movie does have its convictions and has circumstances and the director also punishes the guy for his actions and brings him down to his last shred but its taken as half content the now called gen z take the college backstory about how he ruggedly does everything and take notes on how to pick girls up they just ignore the last part of how he doesnt end with that girl or how his medicine has gone away from him but the gen z doesnt care they just want the adrenaline rush and consider this as a role model. I agree the movie has taken a toll on this generation by giving a mistaken image but its not bad for a movie. The persons going in for a particular movie should have some sense of knowledge that this is film of a particular dysfunctional man and how a crazy girl loves him even if he beats him where is the logic in that but i have seen such crazy people in my life that kind of convinced me but my verdict i am not saying this movie shouldnt have been released but it could have been made more logical or whats the word ethically right ? You cant make movies which are ethically right every person is dysfunctional and every movie is about such persons but the director could have changed how he has changed over time and how his anger issues has taken a toll on him more effectively that these people could understand and isnt it our responsibility also to teach such people so educate the ones around even your brother sometimes small change could bring big good ramifications
      Cheers 😀

@@jayakishore565 you don't have to meet 1000 people know if they think it's ok. Especially is this day and age. We are reading lots of comments in social media talking about it and when you see a post glorifying about it and you can see how many people like it and thus 'agreeing' to it. Also other actors in movies you mentioned, what they did is also wrong and yeah some people have double standards. But just because of that we can't ignore the toxicity shown in this movie. We should be glad that at least they noticed and voiced against it now.

I don't agree at all. You are conveniently removing the art from its context. Indian cinema and its heroes have always been larger than life. The characters continue to shape Indian society long after even the actors have died, in some cases. Auto kaarans in Chennai are a whole vibe now, thanks to Rajini. They still act like they own the city.
While I agree that Arjun Reddy is a work of fiction and is simply portraying a flawed man, commercial film makers in India have a moral duty to be sensitive to the impact they have, especially when they cast heroes, who have long held far greater sway over audiences than even politicians have, at times.
All I'm saying is that filmmakers should be sensitive to the context in which they release films. With great power.. and all that.

This is the post modern view of seeing art as an individualistic thing, whereas it's not. It's an end result of all the social interactions of the creator. This Arjun Reddy is considered toxic not because it showed someone with anger issues but because it GLORIFIED the man with anger issues as hero material. He goes through a character change - Yes. But why did you show his anger issues, drunkenness all with mass BGMs, to make it clapworthy moments? That is where you try to show what you (the creator in this case) like about that person which is problematic on all levels. BR can escape saying it's just that one person from that particular scene, oh come on, that's the justification for the whole cinema then. Can we make a movie so deep rooted in casteism/misogyny/racism and go on to glorify it and then say it's that person in that particular situation😂😂

Mass bgms and clap worthy moments were shown from Arjun's pov where he in his mind can do no wrong. Bgms are used to enhance character povs, the same arjun gets harrowing bgm in act 2 when he is absolutely spiralling, it takes his medical license to go and his grand mom to die for him to realize how wrong he has been about life, situations, people and relationships. Which is why the first thing he does after he see's his grandmom dead body is to go see his father to express solidarity and promises to be a changed man. How is the bgm any different to hyping up kamal hassan for being non bounding vigilante in vikram when that is clearly not acceptable as per the law. People clap not because they want to be like what they are witnessing on screen but because the drama is so good, they cant help themselves but be marvelled at the drama.

I think u missed the point then...u missed the point now ...there are 100 more problematic characters portrayed in Indian cinema as Arjun Reddy...but here the sheer arrogance and heroism with which it was portrayed was dangerous and problematic...the gaze with which the audience was made to look at him was problematic...the ways in which his anger management issues were portrayed justified and even glorified was problematic....and the kind of icon tht was made out of him by the youth esp in south of India was disturbing to say the least....there are two things here...do guys in love slap their partners... probably some actually do...is it ok to do tht... certainly NO ...thts where Arjun Reddy is problematic...it merely treats the extreme toxic traits of a very relatable individual we all have seen simply as a misstep ..and very categorically rewards him in the end! And trust me if u even get a chance to meet females who have been subjected to such Arjun Reddy...trust me there r too many around...u will realise it's NOT OK!

Can you define what toxic behaviour means ? I really don't understand. Infact I started hearing this word just from last 5 years.

    • @tarunreddy2031
      @tarunreddy2031 Год назад +1

I disagree. The movie doesn't reward Arjun one bit. Dude is a top doctor, is good looking, hails from a rich and affluent family and yet by the end of act 2, is seen sleeping in the slums with his dog, lost his medical license that he is proud of, gets thrown out of the house and doesn't even get to spend last few months of his grandmom with him because of his actions and his actions alone, he also loses preity because of his ways and actions. At that point he is a dead man walking. If the audience get inspired by this man in act 1, the consequences of his decisions get shredded to pieces in act 2 thereby showing a mirror saying if you do the things that this character does in act 1, you will see consequences like Arjun does in act 2. It takes a watershed moment for him to realize that what he is being doing is not okay, he is the same man that takes preity's dad blessing peacefully in act 3 at the end even though he absolutely loathes him for being so archaic in act 1, Arjun from the first 2 hrs of movie wouldnt have taken it that way. Coming to the point of glorification using bgms, isnt kamal hassan glorified in vikram for being a vigilante? Isnt tom cruise hyped up in the mi series with that iconic bgm for killing people beyond the lay of the land or rule of law? Any of the above is not okay, from vikram's vigilante justice to ethan hunt's outer judicial killings and to arjun's toxic behaviour. All of them are immoral and in some situations, criminal. But bgms are done from character pov.
