when the orings break you loose high pressure oil , and when cranking youll see the oil pressure switch cyling on and off until it tries to hit then it starts, and it runs good cold.
Nice! Hopefully it’s just a fuel supply issue (pump/filters), and not a injector or high pressure oil issue! If the problem occurs when it’s warm, but does fine when cold could definitely be high pressure oil related. The injectors could be weak, or the IDM (injector drive module) that drives them. Good luck on the fix! Nice rig you got to fix and sell!
Check the ICP pull the connector and see if there’s oil on the connector. If so that’s ur problem. Also check the CPS. Ford had an issue with them and updated the part. If you have the one that’s grey with the purple o ring it should be fine but still could replaced to double check since it’s cheap
I think its your igniter! the thang that sends spark to the engine. An yeah ive been there with a big ole Turbo diesel dullytruck, was like 45 min away from work.
My very first diesel truck was a 7.3 and all though it was a turd compared to the Duramax and Cummins I’ve had since the thing would pull anything and I loved it! This makes me want to get another one...lol.
When you combine Cleetus McFarland's character with WhistlinDiesel type content, the equivalent is Freed Diesel😂. Keep at it Clayton, for ya know it you'll have 200k subs.
@Jack Thompson Just being funny, you dont gotta get so offended. He's doing his own thing that's special, you can see that obviously because he's drawn 72.8k subs that like to watch his flash and flair that he has to his channel. No two people are identical nor will they ever be. The Cleetus character Garrett puts on and Freed's character do have a few similarities and that's why I said that. The only similarity between Freed and WD I was assossiating was destroying stuff
suns rising also, replace the fuel filter, if it continues to stall replace the fuel pump n sending unit incase lines are clogged. also try replacing the tps, maf, or icp sensor, they all perrdy cheap or ay, it could be as simple as a clogged sock on the return line or even low on oil causing the injectors to not work, also I wouldn't fill one tank n rely on that, both tanks should always have fuel in em so you dont burn the 1st-2nd pump out, n mess with air in fuel. or maybe the injectors are jus clogged after injectin all 10 of those lil miles lol
Probably fuel filter 2 screens in tank or fuel pick up shower head looking thing might as well replace the IPR and the ICP and it'll probably run pretty good
That’s a sunset for sure. On the 7.3 I had similar issues with poor starting, you might want to check the fuel filter and replace it and on the side of the canister it has a yellow valve and if you open it while the truck is running it will purge any water out of te system. Also mine had a loose wire. Those 7.3’s are solid units but they have their problems
Go ahead and check the egr, and then check filters if that aint it it it could be in the high pressure pump but thats similar to a stuck egr could be a hell ton of things tho
The Godzilla 6 position archnaid chip is a awesome way too get some performance out of thenole 7.3L powerstroke and a diamond eye 4inch turbo back and cold air will make her a ripper
Most likely low on oil, you can see the low pressure oil pressure gauge stay low while it’s cranking until it starts. 7.3’s need oil to fire the injectors. Hard to diagnose over a video, but that’s where I’d start
The guage is electronic while the pump is mechanical. The guage won't show oil pressure until the engine starts even though there's still plenty of oil pressure going through the pump. Best thing to do is check oil levels then do an oil pressure test.
@@ansonhackett9791 change oil in the hpop tank? You realize oil is constantly circulating through there right? So when you change your oil and start the engine fresh oil will get up in there
@@MoparMadness93 Yessir! i do realize that is how the system works in a perfect world. However i also realize on a 25 or so year old truck the circulation isnt as good as it once was. I find when I pull the oil out of the hpop reservoir it is sometimes quit a bit thicker and more sludgy than the engine oil on the older 7.3s. I also agree that for the most part you probably dont need to change that but once in awhile but if it has never been looked at which is propably the case with clayton's truck, it surly wouldnt hurt to check and put some hotshot secret right up there where it will get right into the oil side of the fuel system. since the 7.3s use engine oil as a hydraulic fluid to fire the injectors its really important to have clean oil for smoothness of operation. (again i also know that many people do the bare minimum maintenance on their 7.3 and it goes 800k lol so thats just my .02
@@ansonhackett9791 the only reason the fluid looks worse in there is because there’s lots of cavities for the soot in the oil to collect. The oil in there is just as fresh as the oil in the rest of the engine. It’s no different that if you were to cut open the heads and see where the oil was sitting before it goes into the injectors. It would look the same. There is a reason that isn’t listed as a maintenance item. Because changing it does nothing because it’s constantly changing anyway. It’s no different than the oil reservoir under the oil cooler in a 6.0.
Clayton it's either the ICP sensor IPR sensor or the hpop check them all notice how your oil pressure is at 0 when it shuts off then she gradually comes up and it fires up again that's because your injectors won't fire unless you have all the pressure
What some people dont know is that obs 7.3s cant get past 399,999 miles, and that's because Fords dumbass didnt add the numbers 4 and up on the odometer, so the truck is forever stuck 300k.... meaning that thing could have 500k and no one would know 🤷🏽♂️
Change the fuel filter on the engine, suck out the fuel bowl with a shop vac to get them gremlins outta there. Maybe change the oil too cause those injectors run off oil pressure and the ol 7.3s like clean oil. Maybe even seafoam it to really spruce it up. She’ll be a good unit again though.
Deffo a fuel problem dirt in the lines or the fuel filter u can hear it missing on a cylinder or 2 id look the filters first to see if there clean or not
It’s running like that cause you got air in the lines there a little valve on the fuel pump press it in with a screw driver or something and diesel will spray out and let some air do that till it clears up
the fuel gauges aren't very accurate on them had a few start to run out before empty noticed your fuel was low I would put more diesel in just to make sure lol 👍
My 7.3 just did the same thing I had water in my fuel Andy stuck up two of my injectors I put a new fuel filter in it and hot shot stiction eliminator and its running fine again
I think how he has a Busch light and a freshly saw zaawed muffler and cat in the bed like a true American
Best comment lmaooo
Damn 🤘
Well... the sun is “rising” and me personally i think it’s a bit too early to start drinking. I start at 9 am on a work day and 8:30 on weekends
That's fax. Same here where I'm from chug a budweiser straight pipe your rig and let her breath.
The 5 speeds are soo much nicer especially with a shift kit but congrats on the unit

Fuel filter! I think those had 2! One on/near engine, one by tank!
yup
Yeah it happens to my dads 7.3 and it was the one in the moter
Oh I thought the obs 7.3s only had the one in the valley... learn something new everyday lol
my obs powerstroke doesn’t have a filter by the tanks only in the valley an i’ve never seen one by the tanks either

Nice rig dude, easy on the vintage steps, keep that 7.3 around 👍
Try fuel filters first, I had the same problem and they helped a ton
Awesome video! I can’t wait until you have 1 million subscribers
Before spending a bunch on a efuel setup toss a copper bb behind the spring in the fuel regulator to see if it is even fuel pressure related

Fuel pick up tube issue when tank is low. Put some fuel in it, if it runs fine then you need to take it apart and fix it.
Yooo what's up vids make me laugh everytime I love the "IDIOT" 🤣🤣🤙🤙

Take a rear tire off each side and bolt em to the front.. can you put duals on the front axle?
Yessir a 7🌲
Looks good brother!
Distracted like a dog when cars drive by 😂🤣😂 hilarious.
always had problem with rust from the tank in my fuel pump 7.3 too. but its prob the darn spark plugs.... lol
Probably a cracked pickup tube in the fuel tank. Pretty common problem with them when you get under a quarter tank of fuel they act up.

There’s no egr on a 7.3
If it dies when it gets warm it might be a cam sensor or maybe a IDM which is not a cheap fix
Fuel filter in the tank most likely. The screen on the pickup tube does that.
you mean the sock?
Get a irate fuel system if you get a fuel system, might need a cam sensor or icp
i fell like hes gonna turn into a kid friendly zip ties and bias plys
Loool that’s funny ole peg is kid friendly he got kids

@Jack Thompson what
@Jack Thompson thats his little brother in the videos idiot

Waaaay off topic but, you should review the purple mattress.
There's a junk yard in imlay city Michigan that is all square body fords..they have all the parts for that truck
Beautiful truck buddy
I love you vids freed diesel
Unplug the icp sensor and see if it’s bad it can cause all kinds of problems including rough idle and loss of power
That thing is the grandpa special with all the decals and step sides and sun visor

those had a switch for oil pressure not a sensor, so like five pounds would shut the light off.

Hahah yeah thats definitely a sunrise. I think if it was 4 wheel dribe that would be a sweet truck. Still looks like alot if fun with that big engine.

That trucks really nice I didn’t even know it was possible to trade a ninth gen with a 7.3 in it for wheels and rims and a little bit of money.

X tigers
