I’m over 55 hours into play time of this game and when I bought it I wasn’t holding my breath but I can honestly say that this game has taken a spot in my top 3 games of all time ….. I’ve been playing after my surgery during my time off this game has saved me from Boredem it isn’t for the faint hearted but I love this game
I want to like the game as I like farcry a lot but I hate the map soooo much… trying to find who I’m supposed to speak with should be highlighted on the map, crafting stations and storage should be indicated, and storage is too small as well
@@thetruth2599 I think they designed the game in a way as to make it last longer in play through,, so they dont hold your hand so much and leave more to discover, I have to say this map is huge which draws the game out even longer.
@thetruth2599 make sure you're not in the exploration mode. I have a ping on my map when I start a mission, and using my Navi sense it shows me exactly where to go and who to talk to.
For me i get vibes of a farcry and horizon zero dawn vibes mixed in the world and lore of avatar which i love both games. I also love avatar and the world looks beautiful
@MHzZz I'm really enjoying it. Only little nitpick I have is short black screen going into a cutscene and going back to gameplay. Shame its not seamless but other than that little nitpick I'm really liking it. Plays pretty well and it's enjoyable to play and the world is absolutely stunning to look at
The way I see it Massive created one of my favourite combat systems of all time in The Division. So I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt that maybe the game plays a lot better if you engage with the systems. “Bullet sponge” enemies was also a popular complaint when TD1 came out. If this was Ubi Montreal I probably wouldn’t have given this a second look
it's not possible to reduce how this game is bad to spullet Bunge enemies. probably the real problem is that it is just archonic copy paste of soulless counterclockwise probabilistic metrics and nothing novel that engages your brain and creates new neuronal pathways
I totally agree and its the only reason I picked this up. Game is fantastic, one of the most beautiful game worlds I have encountered. Once you get your Ikran and soar through the skies with gas giant behind you at night its one of the years best experiences.
The loneliness is my biggest issue with this game. I love it and I'm having a blast, but I hate it that you never fight along your allies. They mostly all sit back and let you do the work. This is the reason I like playing it with a friend, although only one... And it doesn't feel lore friendly having your friend with you in the game.
Great mechanic would be hunting parties. Like a group of navi on banshee going after a helicopter. Or on direhorses hunting one of those panther things
Picked up Avatar Frontiers of Pandora on PS5 and man the graphics are absolutely stunning! It’s the first game since Horizon Forbidden West that has blown me, the world of Pandora is so lush, the natural environment, lighting is top notch. Flying around on the Ikran is a treat, Far Cry Primal is one of my all time favorite games and Avatar Frontiers of Pandora captures the vibe of that game perfectly. 😊😊
The combat and the dynamic open world activities are what I have an issue with. UBI excels in open world design, they are possibly the best, but in terms of combat and making their open world dynamic, they really struggle. I thought this would be a real attempt and opportunity to tackle this issue, but after seeing the gameplay, I felt that all too familiar blandness in UBI games. At least my expectations are now managed, so when I finally get it, I’ll enjoy it accordingly. Thanks for the review.
One thing I know is the environment on surface looks beautifuuuul but making the world alive and feel it is what’s missing for Ubisoft atleast now unlike rockstar , let’s see if avatar can prove it wrong.

Ubisoft did really well in black flag and rougue butahhh thats it. Neither one is on par with bdo, nor a few other games out there that took the open world game to a new level

Watched his and a few other reviews as well. Personally for me I'm not a big Avatar fan and I'm holding off until a good sale. Pretty world but just not too interested in the story, lore and the hunting and gathering mechanics. Right now I've got a huge backlog of games to play regardless. Hope the people who are really interested have fun playing it but it's not a priority game for me.
It would be cool if there was ai navi that can follow you while you open world and combat and also use that flying mount would be clean something like ghost reacon ai teammates

Gonna politely disagree with the crafting take. I'm not fully sure if your version had the hunter's guide or not, but in full release the hunter's guide is all you need to find any material you want. It tells you the location the normal and rare versions spawn in, will even show you on the map the location and biome, and you can pin the materials to have them be more noticeable when using Na'vi senses. Plus being able to skip time at campfires, and you essentially should never need to spend too long actually looking for the items, just getting to the location and maybe doing side activities along the way. Regarding your frame dropping issues, i'm curious did you install the game on an SSD? This game has an SSD requirement or you'll have issues

I have a weird feeling about this game. It looks beautiful, forests are dense, the open plains look unique and varied but the gameplay looks to be lacking. Combat looks so dull, in Horizon Forbidden West you had different weapons and arrows for unique situations and there was a bit of strategy to the combat. The game seems to revolve around attacking bases with not a lot of stealth. I have attacked so many enemy bases this year I don't want another game doing the same thing.
One thing that makes me a Ubisoft fan despite the hate they get is the variety of their library. Avatar, Star Wars, Assassin’s Creed, Ghost Recon , Far Cry and The Division to name but a few. They’re very good at crafting beautiful worlds with good stories I just don’t understand why they don’t know how to fill those worlds with great gameplay and not repetitive gameplay that feel like a chore to get through the combat in majority of their games need major improvement too.
@@VenomousWolverine yeah I agree microtransactions suck and I’m not in favor of that at all. I enjoyed FC6, AC Origins and Odyssey to name some of their more recent games. Can’t say everything they make is great cause that’s a lie lmao.
I hate feeling solo in games like this. “No one can save us but YOU! You are chosen!” type of storylines are the most boring to me and for people like Na’vi it doesn’t feel natural for you to fight by yourself.
Yea I’m pretty sick of all the “one person fights an entire army” despite it supposedly being a group effort to fight tyranny. I am so god damn tired of games like this. What happened to things like COD The Finest Hour where you actually had 10-20 people standing around you, also fighting. Super irritating.
I am an unapologetic avatar fan lol so I've definitely been excited to finally play this game but I think I'm just gonna wait a couple months for it to go half-off. ACG did give it a buy which was kinda surprising to me, but he did say the game was really fun.
Honestly I'm really tempted lol, might just sign up for ubisoft plus for a month or two. Sub is like $18 per month, which is a hell of a lot cheaper than 70
I have helped two tagged animals plus several more in shock traps.i know near home tree there is a tagged animal that when you help it you get clan points
This just illustrates that up to a point graphics don't matter. The Devs need to focus on creative gameplay/combat...you know, the parts of the game that make it FUN. It does just remind me of Far cry.
Agree 💯.. Avatar is ideally going to attract tons of non-hardcore gamers. Im not a glutton for pain despite being a regular gamer but i was in one of the first story base encounters and couldn't help but think "did they even play test this??" also for as pretty as the game is, the lack of optimization for ps5 is petty bad for water, clouds, shimmering, and mid-grade textures on some bigger things. even for a pc to ps5 port. overall though, despite these things and the sometimes awkward voice acting & obnoxious dialogue from side quest ppl.. I'll probably be seeing this game through! for everything i just brought up, there's still some good in there! but the biggest thing is that there needs to be 2 more easier difficulties to amount for casuals like me& for ppl that are not gamers at all! it isn't fun to do the base combats at all. 6/10
The one thing that kept me from preordering this game was the fact it was Ubisoft. Day in age where phenomenal games are always and without fail phenomenally shat upon. Looks fun, I'd play it. Do I expect a masterpiece on all fronts to utterly blow me the fuck away? No. That doesn't mean I wouldn't recommend it to everyone I meet.
i hope they update the game with FREE content maybe some more side quests in the areas that are Mostly unexplored after the story. ik they have dlc planned but i hope we get some free stuff

Exactly, they should focus more with the need of riding different animals, what's the point of being a navi in pandora If I can't use/tame all the different creatures, gameplay would have drastically improved, imagine if every creatures has a unique ability that helps you in some way..
You perfectly said it, combat is really hard, I spent more than an hour and a half i'm still stuck at a base amp suits are op and very hard to kill stealth is not easy either I kept getting spotted or failling to hack and kill amp suits to end up doing it all over again
There's an option under gameplay settings that allows you to have an autocomplete option for hacking. It's off by default. That can help speed up the hacking. So important to hack them and then either use the eject skill or heavy bow them early on. It's very hard early on
difficulty cannot be a turn off that is why there is difficulty settings. I do not normally go for the highest difficulty on my first go on games, but did with Avatar. my first struggles came today on the final mission of the game. surely that shows good balance overall.
interesting how difficult you found it when IGN preview and review as well as skill up preview and ACG review specifically mentioned how braindead the a.i is, and how easy it is to kill enemies and take over bases. wonder if there's some bug or issue here, maybe like you mentioned with enemies not taking damage in some scenarios.
I got my PS5 disc copy of Avatar Frontiers of Pandora Gold Edition and when I put the Season Pass redeem code on ready to redeem, it comes up saying The Crew Motorfest Fitted Jungle Pack not the Avatar Frontiers of Pandora Season Pass Pack. Is everyone else who has the disc version of Avatar Frontiers of Pandora Gold Edition having the same problem with the Season Pass redeem code?
I honestly purchase this game with mid-range hope. I bought the game after Christmas, and I am about 50 hours in right now ha. I have been obsessed. The open world is insane. The graphics are clearly amazing, but the map is huge both horizontally and vertically. Once you unlock your ikran, the map becomes so big and it's fun to just fly around and unlock stuff. I saw a bunch of people saying it was a negative that this was a re-skin of Far Cry Primal, but I loved that game too ha. Would it be fun to fight or fly with other in your clan? Probably, but I also really enjoy the stealth aspect of the game. I do my best to not set off alarms at larger bases, although I am not sure I have ever accomplished that yet ha. The smaller cluster of enemy camps throughout the base, I like to pick them off one by one. The different weapons are fun. Hated the sling shot thing for a while, then realized it was super OP. It is just addictive. The different biomes and all the different side quests are so much fun. I am close to beating the game but still have all the side quests to do. At first it seemed like a lot of stuff to do, especially crafting weapons and cooking food (which I don't mess with the food much) but you catch on quick. I'd recommend the game for sure.
I'm just glad I got to see this before the release date I love the avatar movie and was really thinking about buying the preorder bundle with the extra skins or even not buying the game at all. I was super conflicted. So I'm super glad you made this and I've always been able to trust your opinions as we usually like the same stuff. So I think I will buy the game but just the normal game, mostly because I love avatar and love hard difficulties so I think I can find a lot of fun in this game, but now hearing that the story is forgettable, I see this as a one and done game. I don't think I'll be itching to replay it again and getting it platinum like I did with hzd and fw.

I work nights at a tent city, and I love coming home to this game. I'm taking my time, just exploring the world. I'm surprised about the difficulty. I was definitely expecting something skewed towards first time players of openworld games (or fans of the Avatar movies, as it's very much aimed at the lowest common denominator). Separate from the absolutely cringe Avatar lore, verbage, etc, it's just gorgeous. The sound is especially impressive. Anyway, that probably sounded pretty backhanded, but I love the game. It's got problems, but it's also a great way to unwind.

Make sure the game is on a m.2 nvme drive. I had it on a hard drive, and every interaction or cutscene was met with a 5-7 second black screen and the first initial load of is litterally 5 min long. M.2 and now its amazing
I love the grinding for materials (sometimes waiting for rain and daytime for them to have better perks) and crafting system in ths game, as it makes it more immersive by letting you be part of that world and engaging with it like one woult do in the real world (or if you would play a game like "Minecraft"). Some action-orientated people might call that slow pace, for me it's learning to know that world, its environments, plants and animals a lot better than let's say in "Tomb Raider"
The best compliment this game gets is the visuals. That's the problem. This is a video game. If you like looking at something pretty, go watch a movie. The interactive elements are the main point of video games.
One question I have: Can you disable most or all of these on-screen HUD and UI elements to declutter the screen and create a more immersive experience?
I can't get the repair thing to work. You line up the circles and it flashes then nothing. You go to the other two circuit boards and they don't need repair. So I am stuck in the first room and the game will not let you go any further till you repair that circuit. How??
I have not experienced frame drops and was kind of shocked to hear that was your experience. Did you have other programs open, have the game installed on an HDD, or did you have FSR3 and frame gen turned off? This game has minimum specs including an SSD, a higher amount of RAM required than most are used to (it is a true next-gen title like the Alan Wake sequel), and it also has frame generation for every GPU thanks to AMD's free and open source frame gen drivers.

I fucking hate forced perspective changes when transitioning from on foot to vehicles, it bothered me in Halo, and it still bothers me now, especially whem Ubisoft have already proven they can make fairly decent first person vehicles and mounts.
This game really reminds me of the Horizon Franchise of which I'm a huge fan. It doesn't hurt that I really enjoy the Avator movies too. Aside from a few haters (all of whom seem to be Zelda fans) The A:FP seems to be getting pretty good review ane ths critisims you have made seem legit and I've seen elsewhere. Hmm. As an Avatar fan since the first movie I've always waited for an open-world Avatar game. I played the crap out of the old Avatar game on 360. Not sure this game looks like it'll live up to the movies (For me some of the best movies I've seen) but I'll give it a shot.
Definitely feel like they chose well with it being first person, I feel like with most games its better to see the world through the eyes of the character rather than from the outside and you can see the details of the world. And not sure why people are comparing it to far cry, thats like saying red dead redemption is just a gta copy which it isnt 😂 ubisoft use their assets like every game company. If it was in third person those people would probably be comparing it to assassin's creed🤷♂️
People comparing it to far cry over and over is starting to get annoying. I saw one reviewer say this game is it's own thing but continued to mention far cry. People can't let their Ubisoft bias go and judge this on its own.
@@JorRaptor how are they useless its co-op you can show off what you have to others especially rare and hard to get items thats the point in cosmetic items plus you see them when your flying etc or building your avatar. so i dont see how they are useless i think its cool. this game wouldn't feel right in 3rd person it would take away the immersion.

It so depressing that they cancelled the Immortals Sequel. First gamr in years by Ubisoft to have fun gameplay, conbat and exploration. I really hope they reverse that decision or get back to it at some point. Also remember when its was supposed to be called Gods and Monsters? Such a better name, that honestly likely screwed them somewhat.
Yeah, I am reaallly hating the combat. You can’t see the enemies for 💩 and the bow is just so slow. I also feel like the enemies are kind of over powered way sooner than they should be. Don’t get me wrong I am enjoying the game but I have been trying to avoid all the combat so far and trying to power up as quickly as I can. It focuses a lot on stealth and it took me a while to figure that out. I don’t know, it’s a cool game and the visuals are breathtaking but the first person POV is not what I was hoping for.

Game looks like it needs more systems, like more types of traversal moves, some stealth and some more weapon types, especially melee type weapons.
Exactly, ACTUAL climbing not grapple points. Knife combat like the lore is supposed to have.

I'm at 300 hours and still haven't finished it. Lots to explore in this massive world! And so beyond beautiful.
With visuals becoming very realistic the part devs seem to ignore is camera movement. We need some evolution there.
That is my thought. The movement should be more dynamic to get a realistic feeling of being in there. Do you know what I mean?

It tells you the location the normal and rare versions spawn in, will even show you on the map the location and biome, and you can pin the materials to have them be more noticeable when using Na'vi senses. Plus being able to skip time at campfires, and you essentially should never need to spend too long actually looking for the items, just getting to the location and maybe doing side activities along the way.
Regarding your frame dropping issues, i'm curious did you install the game on an SSD? This game has an SSD requirement or you'll have issues

I have a weird feeling about this game. It looks beautiful, forests are dense, the open plains look unique and varied but the gameplay looks to be lacking. Combat looks so dull, in Horizon Forbidden West you had different weapons and arrows for unique situations and there was a bit of strategy to the combat. The game seems to revolve around attacking bases with not a lot of stealth. I have attacked so many enemy bases this year I don't want another game doing the same thing.
This game is incredible. By far one of the best games I've ever played.
One thing that makes me a Ubisoft fan despite the hate they get is the variety of their library. Avatar, Star Wars, Assassin’s Creed, Ghost Recon , Far Cry and The Division to name but a few. They’re very good at crafting beautiful worlds with good stories I just don’t understand why they don’t know how to fill those worlds with great gameplay and not repetitive gameplay that feel like a chore to get through the combat in majority of their games need major improvement too.

Because they are all centered on clearing enemy bases for main missions. That alone is very repetitive by nature.
I hate feeling solo in games like this. “No one can save us but YOU! You are chosen!” type of storylines are the most boring to me and for people like Na’vi it doesn’t feel natural for you to fight by yourself.

I have helped two tagged animals plus several more in shock traps.i know near home tree there is a tagged animal that when you help it you get clan points
This just illustrates that up to a point graphics don't matter. The Devs need to focus on creative gameplay/combat...you know, the parts of the game that make it FUN. It does just remind me of Far cry.

Agree 💯.. Avatar is ideally going to attract tons of non-hardcore gamers. Im not a glutton for pain despite being a regular gamer but i was in one of the first story base encounters and couldn't help but think "did they even play test this??"
also for as pretty as the game is, the lack of optimization for ps5 is petty bad for water, clouds, shimmering, and mid-grade textures on some bigger things. even for a pc to ps5 port.
overall though, despite these things and the sometimes awkward voice acting & obnoxious dialogue from side quest ppl.. I'll probably be seeing this game through!

Exactly, they should focus more with the need of riding different animals, what's the point of being a navi in pandora If I can't use/tame all the different creatures, gameplay would have drastically improved, imagine if every creatures has a unique ability that helps you in some way..
You perfectly said it, combat is really hard, I spent more than an hour and a half i'm still stuck at a base amp suits are op and very hard to kill stealth is not easy either I kept getting spotted or failling to hack and kill amp suits to end up doing it all over again
There's an option under gameplay settings that allows you to have an autocomplete option for hacking. It's off by default. That can help speed up the hacking. So important to hack them and then either use the eject skill or heavy bow them early on. It's very hard early on
difficulty cannot be a turn off that is why there is difficulty settings. I do not normally go for the highest difficulty on my first go on games, but did with Avatar. my first struggles came today on the final mission of the game. surely that shows good balance overall.

interesting how difficult you found it when IGN preview and review as well as skill up preview and ACG review specifically mentioned how braindead the a.i is, and how easy it is to kill enemies and take over bases. wonder if there's some bug or issue here, maybe like you mentioned with enemies not taking damage in some scenarios.

Sorta, yea, you can see all the creatures/materials/weaponry you encounter in the game in a menu called the 'Hunter's Guide'
I honestly purchase this game with mid-range hope. I bought the game after Christmas, and I am about 50 hours in right now ha. I have been obsessed. The open world is insane. The graphics are clearly amazing, but the map is huge both horizontally and vertically. Once you unlock your ikran, the map becomes so big and it's fun to just fly around and unlock stuff. I saw a bunch of people saying it was a negative that this was a re-skin of Far Cry Primal, but I loved that game too ha. Would it be fun to fight or fly with other in your clan? Probably, but I also really enjoy the stealth aspect of the game. I do my best to not set off alarms at larger bases, although I am not sure I have ever accomplished that yet ha. The smaller cluster of enemy camps throughout the base, I like to pick them off one by one. The different weapons are fun. Hated the sling shot thing for a while, then realized it was super OP. It is just addictive. The different biomes and all the different side quests are so much fun. I am close to beating the game but still have all the side quests to do. At first it seemed like a lot of stuff to do, especially crafting weapons and cooking food (which I don't mess with the food much) but you catch on quick. I'd recommend the game for sure.

I'm just glad I got to see this before the release date I love the avatar movie and was really thinking about buying the preorder bundle with the extra skins or even not buying the game at all. I was super conflicted. So I'm super glad you made this and I've always been able to trust your opinions as we usually like the same stuff. So I think I will buy the game but just the normal game, mostly because I love avatar and love hard difficulties so I think I can find a lot of fun in this game, but now hearing that the story is forgettable, I see this as a one and done game. I don't think I'll be itching to replay it again and getting it platinum like I did with hzd and fw.

I work nights at a tent city, and I love coming home to this game. I'm taking my time, just exploring the world. I'm surprised about the difficulty. I was definitely expecting something skewed towards first time players of openworld games (or fans of the Avatar movies, as it's very much aimed at the lowest common denominator). Separate from the absolutely cringe Avatar lore, verbage, etc, it's just gorgeous. The sound is especially impressive. Anyway, that probably sounded pretty backhanded, but I love the game. It's got problems, but it's also a great way to unwind.

Make sure the game is on a m.2 nvme drive. I had it on a hard drive, and every interaction or cutscene was met with a 5-7 second black screen and the first initial load of is litterally 5 min long. M.2 and now its amazing

I love the grinding for materials (sometimes waiting for rain and daytime for them to have better perks) and crafting system in ths game, as it makes it more immersive by letting you be part of that world and engaging with it like one woult do in the real world (or if you would play a game like "Minecraft"). Some action-orientated people might call that slow pace, for me it's learning to know that world, its environments, plants and animals a lot better than let's say in "Tomb Raider"
The best compliment this game gets is the visuals. That's the problem. This is a video game. If you like looking at something pretty, go watch a movie. The interactive elements are the main point of video games.

I can't get the repair thing to work. You line up the circles and it flashes then nothing. You go to the other two circuit boards and they don't need repair. So I am stuck in the first room and the game will not let you go any further till you repair that circuit. How??
I have not experienced frame drops and was kind of shocked to hear that was your experience. Did you have other programs open, have the game installed on an HDD, or did you have FSR3 and frame gen turned off? This game has minimum specs including an SSD, a higher amount of RAM required than most are used to (it is a true next-gen title like the Alan Wake sequel), and it also has frame generation for every GPU thanks to AMD's free and open source frame gen drivers.
Note: I did have some performance issues with textures not loading and appearing muddy but nothing game breaking or too distracting.

I fucking hate forced perspective changes when transitioning from on foot to vehicles, it bothered me in Halo, and it still bothers me now, especially whem Ubisoft have already proven they can make fairly decent first person vehicles and mounts.

This game really reminds me of the Horizon Franchise of which I'm a huge fan. It doesn't hurt that I really enjoy the Avator movies too. Aside from a few haters (all of whom seem to be Zelda fans) The A:FP seems to be getting pretty good review ane ths critisims you have made seem legit and I've seen elsewhere. Hmm. As an Avatar fan since the first movie I've always waited for an open-world Avatar game. I played the crap out of the old Avatar game on 360. Not sure this game looks like it'll live up to the movies (For me some of the best movies I've seen) but I'll give it a shot.
Definitely feel like they chose well with it being first person, I feel like with most games its better to see the world through the eyes of the character rather than from the outside and you can see the details of the world. And not sure why people are comparing it to far cry, thats like saying red dead redemption is just a gta copy which it isnt 😂 ubisoft use their assets like every game company. If it was in third person those people would probably be comparing it to assassin's creed🤷♂️

People comparing it to far cry over and over is starting to get annoying. I saw one reviewer say this game is it's own thing but continued to mention far cry. People can't let their Ubisoft bias go and judge this on its own.

It so depressing that they cancelled the Immortals Sequel. First gamr in years by Ubisoft to have fun gameplay, conbat and exploration.

Yeah, I am reaallly hating the combat. You can’t see the enemies for 💩 and the bow is just so slow. I also feel like the enemies are kind of over powered way sooner than they should be. Don’t get me wrong I am enjoying the game but I have been trying to avoid all the combat so far and trying to power up as quickly as I can. It focuses a lot on stealth and it took me a while to figure that out. I don’t know, it’s a cool game and the visuals are breathtaking but the first person POV is not what I was hoping for.
Enemy variety just seems to be an on going problem in Ubisoft games. I love AC and enjoy Far Cry but same issue with those
