Hi Sandy, Seeing you partake in these sort of camps is what got me into this in the first place & I would like to give you a big THANK YOU for that. It just looks so peaceful & relaxing where you were. Who wouldn't benefit from doing that. I just need to find a friendly landowner with a sympathetic ear. Take care & all the best, Neil.

What a lovely Spring camp out that was Sandy. I am like you in that I grew up with the countryside as my playground , camping out and doing loads of things which are now known as "bushcrafting ". There is always knowledge to expand on and that's lifelong but to have a deep respect the countryside is the foundation and starting point for anyone wishing to start into " bushcrafting" . Best wishes Vee

Yes I am sure I will be learning til the day I die:) I have learned a lot about the cuckoo pint plant. If I can learn just one wild plant a week then I will have done well in a few years:)

Very enjoyable video Sandy! Wonderful to see you and Elsa out on a peaceful adventure. Loved to hear the cuckoo's! The wrens arrived back today and I was thrilled to watch them putting twigs in the birdhouse. For it's size the wren is a sassy little bird that signs the day away. I'll be 63 the end of the month and have spent many wonderful years roaming the woods, never tire of it, but my body has seen some hard use over the years and my pace is slower. Nothing wrong with a slow pace though, for at times I see more. Thank you for bringing me along, much appreciated! Sincerely, Ossie

My word Sandy, what a beautiful video. I've been following Mike(McQ) for some time and more recently Lee(Stoffer) and Zed, all of whom have wonderful channels, But your videos have a different tempo, the quiet exploration of the woods, make me feel I'm walking along side you, enjoying the Wiltshire countryside.
I've lived in Canberra Australia for several years so I really enjoyed the small details of this video, the lush green grass, the hawthorn, blackthorn and even the bark of small ash twig you found hanging in the tree all remind me of the rural Essex woodlands that I grew up in.
    Thanks mate, just beautiful.

Sandy, as ever, I thoroughly enjoyed the peace and earthiness of you bug out. You have inspired me to get out tomorrow Monday into my plantation with two dogs, hot day predicted, and make a brew on my bcb stove. Also saving up for a tarp, biv and sleeping bag as for all your system's, simplicity seems the best way forward to earthing with nature. Well done. Harry. Lothian, Scotland.

And that is how to do it. Alongside nature, leaving only memories behind. Lovely spot you found there too Sandy...that morning sun hit your bivvy perfectly. Thank you for these videos, sincerely. They really do mean a lot. I have relapsed MS and it's limiting everything now. I don't know how I stumbled upon them but they helped calm and save my sanity and give me something right now to look forward to. Trying new medication combinations and treatments can get draining. Just keep on keeping on. Can't say how this will end up for me and I'm hoping it gets better for anyone who's suffering. ATB! I love that dog! You have the soul of a true artist.

    He Sandy,
I have seen hundreds of video's, but your video's are the best in my opinion. Very relaxing. I was born in a village with only 400 inhabitants in the south-east of Holland. Our parents werd very religious and with just three families in the street there were 30 children. We learned a lot from each other. We were always outside in nature or working on the farm. So we did not need bushcraftcourses. Sandy, thank you for so many wonderfull and inspiring video's. You have inspired me to make knives. My latest was a knife made of a German Nebelwerferrakete. I found this rocket in Overloon (Holland) It was fired in October 1944.

Another lovely video Sandy, thanks for taking the time to film, edit and upload it.
I have the same woodgas stove, through trial and error I've found that If I pre-load it with wood stood on end and packed reasonably tightly to just under the inner jet holes (but not so tight to prevent airflow).
Then light it from the top, it stops smoking quicker and burns long enough to boil a couple of cups of water without needing any extra fuel. I find if I have to add fuel it starts smoking again for a few minutes.
I'll maybe try making a video on what I mean since a picture paints a thousand words.
    Anyho, atb from sunny Derbyshire.

You're quite lucky to have heard that Cuckoo, they're getting rarer and rarer here in Britain, sadly. Not a bad dawn chorus that one, will get a bit better and louder yet though, once all of our summer migratory birds are here adding to the whole medley, ( Cuckoos are that but they get here quite early ), have heard some tremendous dawn choruses in my time. Thanks again mate.

Hi Sandy, it's great to see how Elsa just takes over and owns your bed ;) Thank you for another great video, I really enjoyed this. When you stepped away from your camp to look at the stealth, please keep in mind you had a very overcast day. If you had a clear sky you would have some very good sun reflection from that tarp cover giving away your position. The same is true on a clear, bright, moonlit night.
I admit I am very envious of the area you live in. In spring and summer, it is lush and green. Most of Australia is very dry and brown. Most areas have total fire bans because of the extreme risk of bushfire.
Also, when you come upon rubbish left in the woods, please think CAMPERS. Not bushcrafters. I do not know a single bushcrafter or woodsman that does not believe in 'leave no trace' philosophy. These people are dirty stinky campers.

Love this stove as well. It was the first little camping stove I bought. When I was much younger and was backpacking in the Sierras, it was wood campfires or nothing. But I love the cleverness of these small enclosed “campfires”. So much better for wild areas and so efficient for cooking. Still the fun of a fire without burning so much wood.
I’ve also purchased a Trangia after watching you cook with yours. Never thought an alcohol flame could do all that! Lol Have to give it to the Swedes for their design, especially of the Storm Cooker sets. It’s just so much fun to cook up something wonderful from scratch in the woods, with so little fuss.

Nice one Sandy, a pleasant camp in the wood, its good to see minimalistic set up and you looked very relaxed. with regards to recognition of edible plants and fungi that is on going for all of us I am sure.

Another wonderful overnighter Sandy. Enjoyed it very much. To hot to camp here now. Night time is in the 80sF, hard to sleep in that. I may try it on the beach just to see if the sea breeze will make it bearable. Thanks for the video. TC/SS - Stan

Always enjoy your gentleman's wanderings Sandy... As you , I grew up spending most of my time all but living in the woods. When I first saw the term Bushcraft I wondered what it was really. Then I realised it was just a term for what too many missed out on. I probably did an awful lot wrong over my time, but I never left any mess behind me anywhere, and I got insane amounts of joy out of the woodlands ... Would love to get out like I used to ...

Yes Sandy, it's a disgrace the mess some folks leave behind. We recently were at a paid campground. Two grey headed, older fellows were camped near us. The morning that they left camp, they left behind such a load of mess. Older didn't mean wiser. I found myself apologizing to the caretaker as if I had made the mess. It made me feel so bad that he had to clean up after them. The woodlands will only stay beautiful if we take care of them. Lisa

+zalkona Thats a shame Lisa. You are right, it is not always the youngsters who make the mess.

My Bushcraft journey began by going on a week long course and it was the best thing I ever did. It taught me the fundamentals skills and camp etiquette required to wildcamp safely and responsibly. A delightful video as always Sandy ~Peace~

      +Zed Outdoors Hi Zed,
Yes I agree. A well run bushcraft course is one of the best ways to get into wild camping and bushcraft. Thanks for watching Zed and hope you can get out for a camp soon.

Really nice video Sandy, very chilled :)
Have to say you do a grand job of picking very suitable music for your videos.
Fortunately it is usually a few 'bad apples' that leave a mess and they soon move on to the next thing they want to try!
