IMO multiplayer in Sonic Heroes is quite fun, but uneven - highly depending on mode. Race, expert race, bobsled race (even special stage) are quite nice, but team battle is too random, don't know if it's only me, but I had impression that ring race is bugged. But overall - if only those "better modes" could have more levels, it would be great.

You'll need to look on various auction websites (sadly, it was never re-released in digital distribution). It was also included in Sonic PC Collection from 2009 (together with PC versions of Sonic Riders, Sonic Adventure DX and Sonic Mega Collection Plus), but it's quite rare edition, in theory released in Europe and Australia, but in practice (so far) I could find it only in some australian stores (shipping is incredibly expensive though).
Every character in this game has their own moments to shine......I wonder if Sonic games could be like this again.
