This is months old video, maybe a year. Rainbow is a juvenile now, maybe a yearling. Libby isn't Rainbow's biological mother. Rose is. Libby is the biological mother of Lenny (later changed to Brady). When both infants were just newborns, Rose & Libby got into an altercation. Rose dropped Rainbow & snatched Brady from Libby, leaving Rainbow with Libby. The VOs tried to get them to swap back, but Rose would not take Rainbow, who was a premie & needed constant holding. Libby was raised by humans so she was comfortable on the ground around them. Rose was not - she lived more in the trees like a wild monkey. She didn't like having a premie that wasn't strong or big enough to hold on without being held as she jumped & climbed, so she abandoned Rainbow. Libby adopted her because she had milk & an instinct to mother something but now had no infant of her own. She didn't act that upset over losing Brady to Rose, & she never tried to get him back. Libby accepted & raised Rainbow, but she didn't really know how to be a monkey mother because she never had a one of her own as an example. Libby fed, groomed & protected Rainbow to a degree, but no one could ever say she really nurtured her. She weaned her early, & hard. Rainbow was so needy. She was the VOs current video darling, & was spoiled rotten. She threw terrible tantrums & cried non-stop, making her a pariah to the other monkeys & sometimes to Libby. It's kind of amazing Rainbow has grown up so much & developed such strong instincts to mother Libby's latest infant Leo, who is not her biological brother, but Rainbow acts like he is.
