I first heard this story in 2001- We had to read the book in college. As a matter of fact, I think your father came with Don Richardson a guest speaker 😃

Don Richardson came to visit us in Sarawak (Malaysian Borneo) in 1988 and told us about this amazing story. At the time I was just a kid, and didn't realized that the book was already published (in Indonesian language). I was closed to tears wondering upon realizing that what a great personality that came to visit us. He stayed for a few days at our home before returning to Indonesia. Having read two of his books I realized how important it is for us as Christians to respind to the call of God's 'Great Commission'. This is an amazing story of God's mighty works through His faithful servant. All glory be unto God.

Wonderful genteel man. We met him at a missions conference. I loved this book Peace Child. I remember sobbing middle of the night when I got to the part of giving up a child to the enemy for the sake of making peace.
…. Yet, that is exactly what the Father did for us through Jesus.

Jerry Reeder also served in Indonesia. He was a bush pilot for 17 years. Was in 3 plane crashes. His book, Friend of the Wind is just out. You can get it on Amazon. I have enjoyed it so much!!! I read Peace Child many years ago. Then years later I met Jerry and Ethel Reeder, where he taught at our church. I believe he was the bush pilot for Don Richardson

I read PEACE CHILD in my India in early 80s. Then I got ETERNITY IN THEIR HEARTS. These two books have been very close to my heart.
Now I live in Philippines with my Filipino wife... Not very far from the Sawi.
In northeast India we have headhunters Nagas who were converted by brave Baptist missioneries... some of whom got eaten by the Nagas. But now entire 5 northeat India is won for Christ.

I was blessed to meet Don Richardson when he gave a talk at a local church over 40 years ago. Wonderful to see him again. His books are powerful. I’ve told many people of him and that God puts a key in every culture that will open up their understanding to the gospel.
Beautiful story, and the best thing is it's real. These two videos are the happiest things I've seen in a long time. God's faithfulness is astounding, it makes me want to cry.

An incredible evangelism story!
I have heard of the Sawis as a child back in the 1970s but didn't really looked into the history of these people. In 1989 Don Richardson came to visit our church in Malaysian Borneo, Sarawak and told us about his book 'Anak Perdamaian' (Peace Child) that was newly translated into Indonesian language. He stayed at our house for one week and shared the gospel and his mission works in Irian Jaya (now Papua). I still remember his sermon in Indonesian language until this day and thank God for His marvelous works among the Sawis. There should make a detailed film on this great and wonderful work of love that brought change and hope to the people in Papua.

As I hear this (from India), I am so thankful for God's goodness. The same is the story of some head hunter tribes from North East India. A Welsh missionary came and ministered to them, and today the majority of the tribals are following Jesus Christ. The first tribal family that came to Christ was killed, the parents and children too. It gave birth to the famous song, "I have decided to follow Jesus".

If you want your home, city, state, country to grow and prosper , it must have Christianity. As the bible says over and over, your will die without Christ. Every nation on earth has fallen or disappeared once the inhabitants turn from Christ, or never excepted him. As we are now seeing in the USA, our country is falling apart at a fast rate for that very reason. This tribe he talks about, is growing once Christ was excepted.
