I read Peace Child as a missionary in Haiti back in the 70s. Later, I met Jerry Reeder who told his story about being a bush pilot for 17 years in New Guinea. Don R. didn't mention Jerry Reeder in his book but I sat under Jerry's teaching for years and when I made the connection, we talked about his experiences in New Guinea. He said he was Don's bush pilot. Now, Jerry has his first book out called Friend of the Wind. Amazing stories!!!! Loved his book! So now I have been searching for all the stories I can find on New Guinea. I have enjoyed all these videos! Then I came across Elinor Young, who also worked among the Sawi tribe. She just got her book out called, Running on Broken Legs. She had polio as a child and always wanted to be a missionary. She had to go to college only to find she was not missionary material bc of her handicap. But God called her and she finally got to go. You can see her videos on RUclips now. The natives made a special chair for her to carry her up the mountains. Check out Jerry's book and Elinor's as well.
What an awesome ministry, sacrifice and testimony. Not everyone can do something like this, you brought life and hope into the lives of those lost souls Sir.. For those who hit the dislike I pray that one day you too would come to know Jesus in a very personal way.
Mr Don, the Sawi called him, came as missionarist and he came back with more talents than before. It take two to dance. Mr Don and the Sawi people dance so well for the glory of God.
My daughter and I are listening to "Peace Child". It is so interesting to hear him speak after having listened to his book. I took a Perspectives Class back in the day. He taught several of our classes, so I feel grateful to have learned from him.
I'd never heard of this tribe before today. I read a small excerpt about them and him in an article called "True Freedom" by Joe Duininck in the Word of Faith magazine put out by Kenneth Hagin Ministries. I was hoping to find more elaboration on how he reached the Sawi people with the Good News when they admired Judas for betraying Jesus. But this was so interesting! I enjoyed the paintings and the stories very much, especially about the flood legend and the bridges.
I read his books, Peace Child, Eternity in Their Hearts, and Lords of the Earth. They should be made available in Kindle, if they can't be reprinted, especially Eternity in Their Hearts.
