Hello Nicole,,so you bought our old house,we wish you much luck and happiness there,it was a lovely happy conversion nuilt with my wife and son.It is a very happy house,it just feels alive and welcoming.Such a shame it was left for so long neglected. We are hoping to get over in October for my 64th Birthday. I am also feeling so young and will always do so,I love living life to the full, the alcove we were thinking of decorative log look with some special lighting, very impressive and useful with the log burner, have fun and hope to see you one day
Hi Mike! So good to hear from you! I still remember when you all brought me the 4 painted tiles when I moved into the other house. Such a sweet welcome! I love the idea for the alcove! Please look me up if you come to visit Pego! 🙂
WOW!!!!!! Such as AWESOME house! Keep all the Spanish tiles and the fun chandelier. The recess in the living room could be an awesome wood shelved(think dark Spanish contrast) area-plants included. PLEASE keep the FUN retro wood burning feature in the living room too! Cozy to snuggle up to in winter nights or after a bath outdoor. The courtyard garden is my FAV spot. So much potential everywhere you look!
Happy birthday! Excited to see where this one goes. I'm like you, would have to fix those small level changes in the floor. In the kitchen, I'd think about putting a breakfast bar in that opening to the hallway and having some stools on the hallway side. Also, LOVE the courtyard. I think an outdoor tub would be great! We're hoping to move to Spain by Jan '24 so if you ever do a meet up while you're there, would love to meet you!
P.S. definitely keep the Spanish tiles - they are very hard to get and easily sold on wallapop! Also, I’m sure someone can’t take the off your hands [me 😂] I’ve actually searched for tiles for the past month and, truly, the old Spanish ones are very hard to get and expensive.
Wow, Nicole, this one is truly in great shape in comparison to others there! As for the jacuzzi - we’ve nad a lay-z-spa one (on sale from Carrefour in June for 350!) our water bill was 20 or under for each summer month with 4 people showering 2-4 times a day (it was super hot this summer) and refilling the jacuzzi at least twice per month (again, because the heat was too much even for the pool chemicals we were using). Can’t wait to see what you do with this house, xoxo’s Cleo
Happy Birthday! For the kitchen, can you expand it in some way to have an eating surface? I can't wait to see what you do with it. Can you mention how much you think the project will cost?
Thank you! 😁 I am hoping to add an eating surface. I want to see how much we're able to open up the kitchen. So many things to fit into a small space. 😅 I'm not exactly sure, but I'd like to keep the whole renovation under $20k. I'll be giving updates on the cost as we go.
Hi Nicole. I'm new to your channel. My husband and I are in the process of relocating to Spain this year 2024. Love the home you purchased and especially the price ! What would be a ball park figure for the renovations you plan for this home ? We are planning to do the same, I'm concerned about reno cost but my husband tells me its alot more affordable than the U.S. Our plan is to rent 1st then look around in different areas to see where we would prefer to live. I hope your home turns out beautiful and that you enjoy many years of happiness living there.
Hello, and thank you for watching! I think your idea to rent for a while first is very good! I'm hoping to keep renovations between 20 and 30k. I seem to be on track for that budget currently. It is true that many items will be far less expensive in Spain. My new roof cost less than 5k. It would have been so much more in the US. 🙂
Yeah, there's a lot of street parking everywhere. You have to be careful on certain streets where there is only parking on one side. In out town, the side of the street you can park on, changes on the first of the month and it's a 50 euro fine if your car isn't moved in time. When I'm not in the country, I have a friend who let's me park it in her carport. I know someone else who parks his car for 1 euro per day at the airport.
Hey Nicole, just curious on the sound acoustics of these town homes...How is the sound penetration of adjoining units? Are you able to hear every little sound, or is the wall construction such that sound is dampened?...thanks!
You should be able to rent a property. I believe rental taxes for EU citizens are around 19%, but there is still room to profit with the right house. 🙂
Would you be willing to share which estate agencies that you find these deals on? I've been looking all over Spain on Idealista but couldn't find anything this cheap.
Surprised that sandwich panels have such a short lifespan. What's the point in getting steel beams for longevity then a roof you may need to change in 5 years? Beautiful home, best of luck. I'm sure whatever you decide will turn out great.
We're big on blowing out walls and opening spaces. Spain homes are view sectioned off and closed in. I could send you pictures of what we've done so far. We're planning on buying two other houses in 2025.

In the living area use the space for bookshelves!

I've been wondering where people park their cars in those small allies?

I would buy an house there if i could rent it out, as i reside in Poland.
You should be able to rent a property. I believe rental taxes for EU citizens are around 19%, but there is still room to profit with the right house. 🙂
Hello Nicole, other place with cheap houses is Tavernes de la Valldigna, I bought a house by 22,000€
Muchàs felicidades I my self been looking to buy a house in Spain how far north you are ?
My place is right between Valencia and Alicante.
Good day Nicole. Can You assist us in buying a house in Spain, while living in South Africa? How to
Reuse, recycle, reimagine. 😊
I'd just patch and paint. It's perfect as-is. 😊
Would you be willing to share which estate agencies that you find these deals on?
I've been looking all over Spain on Idealista but couldn't find anything this cheap.
What is expected cost of renovation?
Is it also in Pego?
Hi there! Yes, it's on the same street in Pego as the other houses. I'm hoping to keep the renovation costs under 20k.
Wondering if you speak fluent Spanish and if you advise being fluent in order to buy these deals? PS just subscribed!
Nicole, which town are the houses in?
Pego 🙂
Right side of stove cut out? Book shelf... i am probably not the first to say that. 😂

Thank you! I think they're expected to last closer to 20, but only have a warranty for 5.
