      Dtaylo haha 😂 thanks mate, I have a bad habit of over engineering things. but on the positive side at least I know they won’t break lol 😂

    Great vid as usual Dan . Great showing taking the larger size then reducing till you get where you need rather than just guessing ..

    Great vid Dan. Some nice shots in there. Love the shot looking out the door with the bike in the foreground and the sun going down on a time lapse. Make sure we get shots like that when you are on your adventure. 👍

    Need a tab on it to catch with your foot to put the kickstand down.

    • @CafeRacerGarage

      steven livingston was an idea I had but not sure if I need it as it’s easy to push down without the tab but I know exactly what you are saying as I had the same thoughts 👍😁

    Going to have to do the same on my XJ Yam build. That worked out well. I use oxy for cutting shapes but the plasma looks like it does a top job.

    Great fabrication work! Looks good and does the job. You just convinced me to do my own stand, I was trying to figure out what to do to make the stand on my bike stand clear my new muffler - answer is of course to make a new one :)

      Powder coat will always be the most durable! I prefer spray cans for budget builds though 😁

    Good job! The original kickstand is really ugly. This bike really is the ugly duck turning into a swan!

  • @Chrisinpa
    @Chrisinpa Год назад

    My bike leans too much so I am going to cut the kickstand and add about a half inch section to it.

    • @CafeRacerGarage
      @CafeRacerGarage  5 лет назад +1

      Sam Newberry it’s actually called a belt grinder and it’s amazing 😉. it’s made here in Australia. He ships worldwide and the company is called 84engineering. Tell him I sent you if you want. He may even give you a discount.

    HI, What happened to the new Ultra 185 welder? did it break already or do you prefer the old manual machine better ?

    • @CafeRacerGarage
      @CafeRacerGarage  5 лет назад

      Andrew Palmer the 185 is prominently a mig and I love Tig welding so I use a Tig welder where I can. The 205 ac/dc has a lot of control and very nice to use.
      You will still see the 185 in action don’t worry 😉

    My original side stand 1981 cx500c stands up too straight, I have to look for a left leaning ground area, or a sneeze will tip it over. Don't have the means to weld. Thinking about heating till red and bending it.

    • @danielgreen7159
      @danielgreen7159 Год назад

      Im not sure about the diameter of all kickstand tubes . Not the same bike, but I cut a section out of mine and used a tap to thread the inside for 3/4" all thread, with a couple of jam nuts ,made it adjustable. No welding.

    Well done as always good sir. Out of curiosity, how have you done with sticking to the original goal of keeping this build under $1200? I don't think we have seen an update on that in a while...

    • @CafeRacerGarage
      @CafeRacerGarage  5 лет назад +1

      Revving Rebel very true and considering the bike is almost at the completion stage I will do a total cost at the end, I think I’m still under budget due to fabricating most of the stuff myself as long as I don’t pay myself for my time we are all good LOL

    Good work tho mate keep it up..

    • @MotoMango
      @MotoMango 5 лет назад

      I believe he does go over his rear shock set up in previous videos stating that they were 13 inch eye to eye (I could be incorrect though).

    Hey Dan, if you get this, can you post a link to an equivalent belt sander from amazon like your 84 engineering belt sander. I am not sure I can get them/would be cost effective to ship to the States.

    who can explain what the rubber block/flap is on the side kickstand?

    • @xTHATSFIVEx
      @xTHATSFIVEx 5 лет назад

      Made.at.the.boneyard its for when the kick stand is in the up position. My manual said something about replacing it once it wears away but it's just an added 0.05lbs

    • @logikai
      @logikai 5 лет назад

      @@xTHATSFIVEx what function would that block have in the up position then? I always thought it was when you put the kickstand on the ground, that the stand would not slide away when there is play on the kickstand axle..

    In my native language we have a adjetive for people like you, but in english there is no translation, so here is something similar:
    Capricho/esmero: carefulness, care, neatness, meticulosity, meticulousness, punctiliousness, scrupulousness;
    2) Caprichoso: careful, neat, meticulous, punctilious, scrupulous.
