Depeche Mode Reaction, Reaction to Here Is The House, Reaction to Black Celebration DM Album Here Is The House, Here Is The House
Martin Gore, Dave Gahan, RIP Andrew Fletcher
I absolutely love this song. Dave and Martin sound great together. Martin’s harmony’s are always great!! 👍
This song is now on my phone haha
Might be the best song from Depeche Mode. Fantastic; gets under your skin.
The hidden gem of the entire album, perhaps of their entire catalog. Lyrically, melodically, instrumentally.
Goose bumps. Every. Time.
Lifelong Depeche Mode fan (35 yrs). I have almost everything you can own on vinyl and most of their singles - seen them live over 2 dozen times and this song is in my top 5. Great GREAT song
The chord progression on this song is PERFECT
Omg you've seen them that many times!? Holy moly!
Have you got a favourite album?
@@SephPlays That's a tough one...i'd say it's a 3 way tie between Songs of Faith and Devotion, Black Celebration, and Ultra. It depends on my mood.
But check this concert out, I think I mentioned it to you before - this is during their Songs of Faith and Devotion tour. Dave was a barely functioning heroin addict, Martin was blacking out drunk almost every night and Fletch had a nervous breakdown during the tour. This is also the last tour they had with the GENIUS that was Alan Wilder. Alan's fingerprints are all over their music starting with Black Celebration and culminating with his Magnum Opus that was Songs of Faith and Devotion. He even played live drums on this show. The track list and timestamps are in the comment section of the video.

Enjoy :)
I love this song so much. It's one of my favorite.
It's amazing how they achieve putting so much atmosphere in a quite minimalistic song.
Their voices together are matching perfectly ;) Alternate singing, or together, or Dave main vocal and backing, harmonic vocal behind by Martin successively, it’s amazing, a kind of magic
One of the Best DM songs ever made. Love this one very much:) Song about love in a pure sence.
One of my very favorites and the Harmonies really happened quite a bit over the next few albums. Love, Love, Love this one!
I effin love this song!! This is my ALL TIME fave dM song!
I can definitely see this! Lush song 😊
Very sweet heartfelt song...its incredible really...
I love this song so much, it's somenthing... yes, unique. Martin wrote beautiful lyrics: so simple but so deep and the fact that they are both singing it's perfect. It's a love song where both 'parts' sing for each other.
It's a 'purely Martin song'... I don't know how to explain this XD
I found this gem in my father's LP and immediately fell in love.
It's sad this is really hard to perform live (as Martin said).
There are very few people who know this song and none of them live here in Italy XD
This song it's really beautiful, hauting but in the good way.
OMG I was sitting here listening and said out loud, "It feels like a love song." And 5 seconds later you said "It feels like a love song." LOL 😂😂Great minds think alike. A very lovely DM song. Banger, Seph!!
Im really glad someone agrees with me on this one, because i get definite love song vibes off of this!
😊
Yes, absolutely! Each time they are singing together, backing Martin to Dave or viceversa, that songs are amazing. This one is extremely nice, and the choruses shine over the melody, which is easy but good, very enjoyable. A sharp contrast with so many others in the album, much darker than this.
Beautiful voicing and the song becomes more lush (as you said). Can't describe how happy it makes me to hear it. Need to find the LP and blast it throughout the house.
Thanks, Here Is The House is so catchy - got an earworm now 😅
Yes, Dave and Martin sing together here. I love it, when both of them sing together (as in People are People or Shake the Disease).
The whole album is so great, it's my favorite album out of their 80's albums.
Dave and Martin's vocals dance around each other much like the lovers they are singing about. Really lovely. I was only 15 when this album came out and listened to this for the first time. It's been a long time since I heard this track and it really sticks out in a way that I don't think I had the maturity to appreciate in my youth. It's really sweet watching you digest this. Your face opens up to its beauty little by little. It's gotta be a trip for you to look back at your first exposure to this and so many other tunes you've reacted to.
Also, notice the descending xylophone bit sounds like it's been reprised from "Everything Counts."
definitely one of my favorites.
This is one of the songs Martin sings solo during their concerts. It sounds quite a bit different with acoustic guitar accompaniment. Still awesome.
Alan sang a lot of backup vocals too
it was long time my best song of DM! great U share it with us :) omg lyrics so love
I can definitely see why this would be one of your favourites 😍
@@SephPlays Ticking clock in a back it is like home :) great combination of sound and lyrics :)
You're getting close to the end of the album. Dont' you dare to forget Shake The Disease, It's Called A Heart and Flexible... They came out before the album
Im scared that he forgets these. They're not visible in the track list when you google Black Celebration.
Already on the list! I'll listen to them before i move on to the next album 😊
@@SephPlays Not chronicle order Seph lol ... And where's Television Set, Any Second Now (b-side version) I like It, Mouldy Old Dough from the Vince Era..And Excerpts From My Secret Garden these are different to the ones you reacted to. Too many of those Elvis home recordings if think for you lad 🙂
@@westernsect5773 i might not do them *completely* in order. But i promise I'll listen to them all haha
And OMG them home recordings have melted my brain!!!! 🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠
@@SephPlays Ha ha ha You might find Television Set, Mouldy Old Dough and I Like It will do the same 🦇
Even though you’re on the Devotional tour, I came back to Here Is The House because it evokes similar feelings for me as In Your Room. This song fits into my top 5 DM songs. I used to play this CD in my car and put this track on repeat. Ahhh❤️❤️❤️
Usually people who love techno or house music , have strong connections to depeche mode. That's because DM is about music , not the lyrics. Even do some songs still make me tear up even now , like One Cares or Only when i lose myself, Waiting for the night etc .. But i think you have to be a fan to experience them like that.
so far only 1 DM song has made me tear up to be honest. Everything counts is just soooooo good and even better live :D
Yes they sing together. It´s beautyful when they sing together
Very good song i love it 👍🎶
Martin does a lot of backing but you don't always noticeable until after a few listens
I'm sure Martin was doing the vocals on any second now
When I heard this song I was like this is my new favorite Depeche Mode song.
SEPH, From someone who hasn't heard much from Depeche Mode, I find this very listenable. In fact it might just be able to grow on me, given more listens. You said, Seph, that the music was "lush"..my first thought was "a drunken haze"! Just trying to get your gander up a little, I reckon. -Jimmy Johnson.
Lush drunken haze
@@SephPlays I hoped you didn't take my "choice" of words too seriously. I'm not really implying that you are in "a lush drunken haze"! 😅
@@JamesJohnson-ig6of well some of them home recordings make me wish i was in a drunken haze haha
BC is the best DM album. The definitive album.
It happens a lot, wait and see on the following albums :)
Ohh yeah! Funny how this wasn't even that long ago. Now they are doing it all the time haha
I almost forgot about this song!!
Black celebration concert maybe the best ever although I was at the Rose Bowl.
Masterpiece.......
You had me at "together"
One of the best songs on the album!
I think this song (oooops it was But Not Tonight) was left out in the original UK album. The band didn’t like it but decided to include it in the US album. It’s an incredible song and one of my favorites. Best melodies with that incredible Alan Wilder sound depth.
Never heard of this ..... and I bought Black Celebration on it's release date back in 86....."here is the House" was always part of the album.
Yeah not the case.
@@vnvmode My fault I had it mixed up with But Not Tonight they did not like at first
@@MrMissingReel sorry it was But Not Tonight
I remember turning to my wife when I finally realized they're both on the tune. They're our Gods.
I came again on this one cause’ never forget that Martin always have in his mind to find a way to talk of sex without direct words ;) « I feel your warmth and it feels like home » « body and soul together ». Always one of my favorite songs from Black Celebration… Long time ago in an interview from Song of Faith and Devotion area, he recognized to have 3 subjects in his songs Love Sex and Religion but Sex first i think… 😂
Hello again Shep, i m Álex from Valencia, thisone is a very good song, singing dave and Martín together, for me the 2 nd from this álbum after A question of lust, if you want to see something gorgeous of them together look for Waiting for the night,, live in Barcelona 2009, send you info,,,
Ill add it to my list 📃 thank you for the link. I'll react to it soon
❤
For me this is one of the most catchy songs on the album! I like the live version a lot as well... though honestly it was only once hearing Martin sing with a guitar...
But Black Celebration was not played a lot back then either... The live version is even better then the album version I think. Though the album version does grow a lot better in the intro...
Ah well, back to "Here Is The House":
Lyrically it is not as deep as the other songs on this album but I do love the melody, the layers... and of course the ticking clock throughout the song.
@Seph: And glad you're still giving them "a chance" :) A few albums later (Delta Machine...) I found the albums not as catchy as this.. but when you will get to them I promise I will still be with you "Catching Up With - Depeche Mode" ;)
Stay Safe!
Im not gonna stop until ive heard them all haha
My top 5
You rarely hear it live
I wonder why?
@@SephPlays Apparently the band didn't think it was good enough to play on tour. Just like People are People. The band's biggest hit and not played live on tour since 1988. Strange story
this song will grow and grow and grow on you. for me it's a masterpiece:
2 versions that you've to listen:
- the acoustic version live by martin (a masterpiece): ruclips.net/video/jP_im5n5O9A/видео.html
- one great remix: ruclips.net/video/irGOvjjOcn8/видео.html
(part after 3:13 is just wow)
after listening to these 2 versions you'll consider it's a masterpiece.
Wow, thanks! This accustic live version by Martin it's amazing. He's a genius.
@@Doreen3003 Listen to this other acoustic version: it's still better:

@@raphaelcharroux8798 This is even the full concert, thank you. I first heard DM in 1990, I was 12 years old.
So I’m guessing Stripped got blocked?
Or it’s just taking longer to arrive?
Or did you skip it?
ruclips.net/video/PyyIVCbvxpo/видео.html
There you go 😊
@@SephPlays oh you already watched it months ago
I thought I caught up on all the DM reactions.
@@SephPlays Where is the reaction to the live version? Or do you wait for 101 after Music For The Masses? :D
That 101 ive been throwing in the odd one or 2 reactions. Im loving that concert so far!
@@SephPlays I'm so hyped for whats to come. I feel like you're a friend who I'm watching being introduced to DM
Have you heard the demo???
I'm not sure? Demo of this song?
@@SephPlays yes! It’s just Martin singing in the demo and it’s so good
Amazing but underrated song it's like there indy and rock R&B side.
Please react to Morrissey - Seasick Yet Still Docked
No Stripped?
ruclips.net/video/PyyIVCbvxpo/видео.html
Stripped ^^^
Not my fav but pretty close
As you react to a lot of elvis you may want to check out dave ghahan and the soul savers doing a couver of you are always on my mind. Soul savers is his other group but a bit more conventional
Where is stripped? 😃
ruclips.net/video/PyyIVCbvxpo/видео.html
There it is 😉
In the song "Waiting for the night" I think they sing together, actually there's a show: Tour Of The Universe, 2009, Barcelona, that's is awesome seeing together how they performed this song.
