Boss couple of suggestion. First off good job. Suggestion, when testing wicks no need to waste wax by filling all the way up. Half is perfectly fine. Now here the next trick after you figure the proper wick and you want to do your power burn test to insure as the candle burns down it does not over heat the container and all goes well. Get an apple core tool and pull out your current test wick you have in container after it hardens. This will then allow you to place a wick with tab to secure to bottom. You will then place the wax in the apple core thru that wick and your ready to burn that baby all the way down.

just as in cooking, do not let your temperature probe rest or touch the bottom of your vessel --- it will give you a false read on the product (wax) itself --- most probe thermometers come with a clip to attach to the vessel and suspend it above the bottom of the vessel - nice presentation !
We are in the process of performing wickless testing on the vessels we want to use. I have been up all night testing trying to find the right wick for one vessel. After a power burn it's exciting to see how the wicks all perform so differently.
I love the idea of looking at this way for testing For the drill bit does it matter what size it needs to be. Also does the wick move at all when it gets hot that would be my only concern since it doesn’t have the tab on the bottom
So the question I have is this: do you choose the vessels you want FIRST before you wick test or do you just get some containers and then wick test? I can’t seem to find anyone talking about that because I’d hate to spend a crapload of money on vessels (and ruin them by testing) that I want beforehand if I don’t have to.
Start with developing a business plan. Framework for the type of vessels FIRST then order a small batch. Elect one of those vessels as your tester! Only one
After an hour of having the wick lit, I always can tell whether there would be soot from the flame. If your flame has black smoke coming from it then you may need to test different wicks. Eco series usually gives me soot. I hope this helps
Hold up. I’m in the process of testing candles for my candle business I’m starting soon. I only using 6 scents to start. So I was going to make 6 candles with each scent and test each candle. So what u saying is u don’t need to make a bunch of candle cause if the wick work for one candle it will work for all even with different FO ? Plz help
Hi, how long do you wait in between while waiting for it to harden to test another wick? I seen a video from someone else and they said to wait 5 hours 😩.
You've just shown me a new way to do testing and I am super excited now. No more wasted vessels, wax or wicks.
Yaaay! Thank you!
yes I am so excited for you!!!
Thank you. I almost wasted a bunch of candles. I love how you keep it simple and humble. God bless and prosper your business 🤍
Thank you so much! I wish you all the best in your business as well.

Sounds intense thank you!!!
I’ve actually seen the apple core tool at my target gonna grab one and see how this goes 💞
Video the process and tell me how you like it
@@cindyguerrero3802 sounds fun may look into it with testing my other vessels thanks Cindy 💞

Thank you, I needed to see this.
I’m new to candle making and your content is helpful and informative. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!

GREAT TIP WILL HAVE TO TRY THAT GOING FORWARD! DOING A WICK HOLDER VIDEO TODAY :)
I agree with you because I have seen the temp change thank you!!!
You’re a lifesaver! So glad I found your channel 😍
Great video. 👍
Thank you!!! I’ve been making this same mistake making full candles.
Yess I’m still cleaning out old jars been months lol
why don't you heat gun the tops between each test to flatten it out?
the best video i saw about wicks i liked your idea thank you
yay happy to help !
Wish i saw this before i made 6 candles to test lol but i know for the future! Thanj you so much!
You are so welcome!
Right girl i made like 10 candles

What about candle tunneling while doing test burns? Tunneling is due to the wick not getting hot enough for the wax to have a complete melt pool?
Tunneling could be caused by the timing of the first burn being too soon or by the wick being too small for the size of the jar.
Loved this video. I want to experiment with wooden wicks. Any recommendations??
Great advice and job on the wick testing. Going to try it. My problem is trying to figure out the 4 inch 3 wick candles like bath and body. 😊
You can do it! Stay focused on it.
I’m in the process of testing wicks. Should the wax have an even surface each time to see if the wicks give a proper melt pool?
Thank you!
Yes
Right because it looks like it'll burn the same area of wax due to the memory it has 🤔
I love you. You are so cute and friendly. You do an excellent job explaining stuff!!!
Aw thank you!!!
Should I use a heat gun to level it out after each try?
Thanks so much great idea
You are so welcome!
Nice video .Thanks for what size candle is this 8.5 oz wax for ok I see 9oz jar
Wow awesome!!!! Thanks for this informative video 🙏
This video is super helpful, thank you so much.

really thin drill. The wick doesn't move unless you burn it for more than 4 hours

That is smart
So you’d also recommend to go up? CD 12? Along because I don’t like melt pools and I saw the cd created a melt pool
Not sure if this is a dumb question, but wouldnt this method limit you from testing for soot because you arent really letting the candle burn low ?

Where do you get the cap for the fragrance bottle?
Brilliant! Thank you for sharing this! 💖
No problem 💞
Im sure this is a dumb question.... but do i wick test and then test for hot throw?
No not dumb at all! Wick testing can be before testing for hot throw because it plays a role in your hot throw ❤️
Thank you so muchhhhh.
This is so helpful thank you!
yay so happy I could help 💞
Where can I get the spout?
amazon
What size jars?
11oz vessels

I’m using coco apricot and soy 10
Unfortunately, you are correct, you should wick test when you change anything including fragrance or vessel 😢
Where do you buy the wick at
candlescience.com
Can you double wick this jar or is it better just to use one wick
you can ABSOLUTELY double wick this jar!
@@bossvision Thank you so much I have watched your vides I love how you do your candles does CD10 Wicks work better for this jar
Thank you
thank you !!
You're so welcome!
Thank you for this 🙏🏾
No problem 😊
Hi, how long do you wait in between while waiting for it to harden to test another wick? I seen a video from someone else and they said to wait 5 hours 😩.
I actually waited like 3-5 hours each time! But that is better than wasting wax to remake one each time :)
@@bossvision Oh great thank you! 😊 Exactly! I am in the middle of testing and thought I had to wait until tomorrow lol.
So my wax says to cure 14 hrs do I need to do that?
you are using CD10 but it didn't burn all the way. were you just testing for hot throw?
this video was published december 2020 feel free to watch my newer videos
What is the diameter of your candle ? 2 1/2?
