- What is an INTP? Are you an INTP or have a loved one who is an INTP? Or are you exploring personalities and MBTI?
In our first episode of "INTP: The Thinking Creative" we seek to understand what personality is and why there are personality preferences. We'll take a look of some famous examples of INTPs in order to get a feel for the type and explain the difference between personality and individuals.
You know, people seem to venerate and admire intp in the past and online, yet seem to hate us in person.
I'm an INTP and I've noticed that lots of other INTP people have a superiority complex. That's probably why nobody likes INTP irl
@@savannaobregon3823 that's just one of the motives btw most INTPs are really quite before they start a debate
@@savannaobregon3823 It's not a superiority complex, I don't tend to open myself up for debate or anything unless I know I'm factually correct. Always truth seeking always in an attempted to further my own knowledge...
We don't take to kindly to the trival, gossip, and feelings of others so there in lies the perceived superiority complex...
I tend to open my mouth when there's been a grossly incorrect assessment or something made...
The statement that says better to stay quiet and thought a fool, rather than to speak up and remove all doubt, for an intp... When a fool speaks... We are the ones ensuring that we remove all the doubt....
I've found that when people ask me small talk questions, I prefer to answer them like they're the most important question ever asked. People are not ready for that level of realness. So I have learned to do the casual banter thing more. And it is fun and I've become quite skilled at it.
Savanna Obregon I agree as an intp that struggles with a superiority complex. I know I’m only human and I don’t really feel all that “better” than others, but in most social interactions I feel like I have to dumb myself down to talk to someone.
just wrote 2000 words in comments and then decide to delete them - intp

Doesn't that happen to everyone, no?

lol.its.pizza am I the only libra here who always wondered why she doesn’t really fit her sign till she discovered that she’s an INTP? 😂 l also love lucky star
INTPs are the ones creating memes lol
Man I can't even stop making pepe or ricardo milos memes
Bruh I'm an INTP and I run a meme account
I think intp's brains are very organized but their desk, rooms, and work places are unorganized
I always keep my spaces organized. Not clean, but organized and neat.
I swear I know where everything is...most of the time
Is organized
Looks messy for other people
But for me is organized
That's because Ti is internal. Opposite types like ENFJ/ESFJ and such are disorganized in their minds, yet organized in the external world.
It's completely that for me.
Time for ego stroking
I did good. I socialiized like 6 times this month. I deserve it. Lol
Holy fukin shit yes ik IM being hypocritical while saying this but most people in this category have the sort of "IM a unique" snowflake syndrome and Its sorta funny as hell
Snowflakes or the slang "Snowflake" in my opinion, would most likely be describing an F (not T) type. Hopefully curiosity strikes you, and you choose to read 'stuff', and look at 'stuff' #CarlJung #INTP #WhyBeMean?. It is my hope that you know what 'stuff' is a legitimate, re-searchable source. Not all of us are so fortunate. Not all of us have the privilege that is so obvious by your tongue and ignorant name. Honestly, I didn't even watch but maybe 3 seconds of this video on accident and I can see you are either a child or a moron.

Mbti is a dead typology, dunno why people are getting so hyped about "rare personalities" whether they're mocking it or indulging in it. People can't truly be categorised so the way some people think it's arguable valid topic is funny, it's not even applicable. As for the idea of a small group of people being snowflakes, it doesn't make much sense. Snow flakes are actually common, because they drift towards pop culture (popular culture) and "trolls" (people who think they are 'all knowing' with the truth) make them popular with their reactions. Snowflakes also tend to have a distorted sense of reality so they only ever claim to be a minority when they aren't actually. So snowflakes only see themselves as different from everyone else, but that's just a self awareness issue, there are people who are actually different from the majority but Mbti doesn't represent it well because it's dependent on a persons self image which means it relies on their self awareness. Just thought I'd comment to make it clear that the Mbti test results shouldn't matter enough to get people attacking others for their results, its just an old system to learn about as history rather than use it to make a viable statement about people.
gay Sharma yeah I think our personality type just wants to understand what’s going on in our head more.
Any other INTPs only laugh at sarcasm, irony, and dark humor? Most humor just isn't funny.
Genevieve Mayer what is most humour tho...?
Its always very socially uncomfortable when friends want to show you something "really funny" and you don't fint it fun at all. Then you try to show something whitch you percive as funny and you get the look. 🤔
Nah, I like laughing at clean jokes as well, because they are actually the hard ones to make.
absurd ones are the best
I am not sure that I am an intp, but people being people cracks me up often : Like why are you doing all these silly extras...
Like one of my coworker who is obviously looking up to another one. He dresses and acts like him and give him these looks of admiration so much so that the whole relationship just seems like an owner + dog. That is kind of amusing....
INTP artist here, I always felt odd being INTP and see it associated with science and maths which I'm not fond of. Overall INTP can match with artists since we think, innovate and usually introverted workers.
I mean I explored poetry.
YESSS FINALLY ANOTHER ARTIST INTP!
I’m very balanced in almost every trait, all of them except intro/extra are almost 50/50, but I relate most to INTP, somewhat with INTJ as well. Problem is I’m lowkey a dumbass unless I’m super interested in the specific subject. Which will never ever be math. I love art and music but it’s never mentioned for INTP and INTJ.
Me too man, the only science I'm fascinated by is psychology. Im currently in a film and music academy as the two are my personal passion. I do also love history and politics though.
Same. I draw a lot, so at first I thought it was wrong, but researched more and decided it was right.
Extroverted Intuition makes a person artistic. Types who are typically considered cartistic are those who have it in their first or second function (intp, infp, entp, enfp). This is a clear difference between ISTP's and INTP's. ISTP's are not interested in arts the way INTP's are.
I'm a female, depressed, socially anxious INTP. It's a struggle. I feel like I can't really relate to anyone I know.
I feel the same, it's like i was dumped on an alien planet.

Fellow female intp 🖖🏻
Whenever I see threads like "If you could pick any type, which would you be" and I see alot of people like the idea of being INTP. But oh boi, INTP is so hard to be cuz it's like starting a game character with (Persuasian -50) (Charisma -200) (Intelligence +10) (Cringe +200). Sure INTPs are smart, but that's heavily set back by how much we get dealt the backhand in social interactions. Source, I'm an INTP.
God mood
@Josh Levan sure that may be true but at that point you could also simply wish to be an entp with most of the advantages of intps but none of the social awkwardness.
Agree, we are living way harder because social norm are different
I compensated and have put a lot of exp in charisma. Now i can pretend to be comfortable in more places that arent my room. And i accidentally make friends i wish i didnt have to ghost. fml
Its true that we're introverted and may not be so good socially and emotionally but its something you can learn with practice like a skill. You can study communication, body language etc get hobbies I got a lot better when I started doing sales. Also we can use our intelligence for those things

Discovering that I'm an INTP has brought so much peace to my life, like I no longer worry about trying to fit in because I realise that that's just what my personality is like. There's no reason to change that because it's not a bad thing, as in reality we're super smart and awesome anyway, and a lot of people admire us, but we're often too hard on ourselves about it because we don't fit in.

That's so true, now since I found out I'm an INTP I can kind of say that I'm smart I guess? I always worried about my intelligence.

"They believe there is only one truth, one reality" - that's a rather broad characteristic and isn't particularly fitting. It confuses truth and Truth, not differentiating them and/or treating them as one. Many INTP's, do not search for Truth as we can't be sure such a thing even exists, but rather search to find, strengthen, and edit our own thoughts/beliefs. This would be a conceptional truth, more than a search for universal Truth.
true. i'm an intp and i personally don't believe there is only one truth or an absolute truth but there might be however i don't think we'd be able to realize or know that in our lifetime and yes it's more of knowing more rather than being stuck on trying to know THE TRUTH
We want to understand the mechanics behind things..how do they work? I think we explore, while not having a clear goal in mind what we seek. Our exploration will guide us to whatever knowledge we can find.
One aspect of Truth, is a plurality of Reality Tunnels, of which the epicenter, and transperpespectival (mathematics etc.) gnosis, is an Attractor.
@@kpopluverkpopaddict I thought something similar. Found it a very peculiar statement he made in the video. My logic detector tingled.
I thought the exact thing when they said that.
I am an INTP - originally lacking social abilities/emotion recognition - but a few good friends of mine; a few of them being INTJs, have taught me how people work and I have a much better understanding now. This is a result of my frequent question asking on stuff like "Did I say that right?" or "was that rude?". After a few years I feel a lot more comfortable around people and social events are considerably more enjoyable to me now that I can understand a lot more about the people involved in them and the events themselves. I'de recommend to direct at least some of your curious nature as an INTP to understanding how humans operate - as you'll be dealing with them throughout your whole life (or so I've been told). It sure has helped me - and I'm still learning (as ever).
This is very good advice! Fellow INTP here btw
Lol damn i still try to figure out what personality i am but i feel this one so bad, like i still check on friends to ask like:"i started a fire didn't i?", i can be so reckless when it comes to people
You know, there are a lot of books teaching social norms, relationships, and human psyche. I studied these books since I was 9 (Greek Mythology is so good). Later I observed people I encountered in schools and social circles to find correlation. INTP’s brain is powerful. You can learn everything by digging material and information.
I think the strength of INTP's is that they do not need books as much as other types, as their ability to pick up how things as concept work is problably the best of all 16 types.
The strength of the intp lies in the ability to dissect reality into smaller components to naturally understand their relationship. The thing about books is that books rather serve the Te user who's more intersted in taking ominformation to use for a certain goal rather than figuring something out themselvs. This is contrast with the INTP who wants to understand things more rather than using that information for a certain goal. So basically the INTP is the best decoder of concepts and the INTJ problably the best coder. However, books usually have already decoded stuff and often not really in an optimal fashion. I've learned more about subjects just by inspecting them abstractly, rather than by reading about them. However, I'm sure this does not always apply of course, since you do need certain basic or more advanced info first. However, what I try to say is that the strength of the INTP does often lie in figuring things on their own by just thinking about them.
I agree with you buy i also as an INTP am a strong reader which help me put a name to concepts i already knew from observation but have trouble communicating to other people.
Mostly in the area of human behavior and phycology seems to be my natural strength since i spent most of my life and still do observing people.
I think that is why i am drawn to Robert Greene books as he seems to be an INTP.
As I age as an INTP I find I read less than I did in my youth. It's seems today as more and more the world (run by non NT's) has become far less complex, people generally state the obvious as their epiphanies... I do more and more feel like I am trapped in a world full of goldfish, and to better cope and mesh, I have to work at being oblivious... Actively forcing myself to not consume knowledge as life and society became more and more frustrating, our tenacity to beat people into the ground over their beliefs not backed by fact and just conspiracy just oozes simple-mindedness to me.
Always deviled advocate, not understanding how people get consumed by there lack of understanding... My curiosity just can't sit still long enough to ground itself to one reality... There's a million and one things on my brain and my brain thinks of the thinking I need to do to think about the one million and one things until I'm just thinking to think about nothing.
One image for me that always comes to mind is neo (in matrix) when he's brought to the loading stage of the matrix... The scene where all the rows and rows of weapons appear... It's like my mind when I'm asked to think about one think or my opinion... I just lock up, which may come off aloof but rather I feel overwhelmed by the vast amount of knowledge that I can present, the frustration then of having to communicate it in Lehmanns, doubting it's even received as I deem necessary, all in a flash, and end up not giving voice... Or just steering clear of remark.
I agree. But we don't merely think while we try to understand the truth behind something. If we are really motivated, we will take the untrodden path on our own to really dig deep. This usually results us in going against the social norms and experiencing the unknown. Something that most people would refuse to do so.
I get what you're saying. @darrio alexander it's possible that intps also just "state the obvious." Sometimes, people don't really notice what's obvious even when it's right in front of them. Also, it's amazing how INTPs can connect concepts super fast and make it seem effortless
INTP are the best, let's all pat ourselves in the back guys...virtually tho.
Why do i think INTPs actors and actresses have the same way of talking, like the intonation, the pause
because intps involuntarily study language, social interactions and basically end up acting them to fit in. it can get very sad at times, feeling like you are deceptive..
It’s like being from a foreign culture no one ever got references for 😂

Are many of you fellas aspies or AD(H)D? I'm an INTP-T with ADHD. I definitely see myself as more of a "philosopher" rather than that clean, straightforward mathematician type. I question everything to the point that I agree with radical empiricism. I cannot express my weirdass way of thinking verbally. It's like I get these moments where I just intuitively realise something profound and when I try to say it outloud it turns to utter shit. Also English isn't my first language and I get anxiety over some native speaker reading this and deciding to call me out for being an imposter. I don't have my face attached to this post and no one knows or gives two shits about me. Still, I feel like my fragile ego is at stake here. What many people don't understand about M-B is that it is a model. Yes, it is not real, it is a model.
However, models are very useful as they provide ways to reason about very intangible things.
PanglossDr I think more awareness is being brought to the usefulness of the MBTI as a whole. The functions do show up in the real world and can therefore be useful in understanding certain actions that contradict another users (by user I’m referring to someone else in the simulation of life).
Too many people disregard it because they see that there is inaccuracy and too many people believe it is infinitely accurate.
Well, you can't expect 435.000.000 people to act exactly the same, but you can spot some kind of coincidences in their behavior.

I'm a microbiologist and a science teacher and I love singing, I have an obsession with it since I was a little kid. I'm obsessed with learning everything about vocal technique too and I hare that there is so many contradictory information about it.
I'm actually interested on what is your take on singing technique. When it comes to opera do you prefere old school technique or new school technique? Do you prefere the chesty sound of Franco Corelli, Maria Callas and Ielena Obraztsova, or the lighter sound of Joyce Didonato, Juan Diego Florez or Elina Garanca?
Maybe I should've too. I've got great deductive logic like that too. A detective would work too. Or even a doctor. I like to sing also. I feel like many musicians might be uncredited INTP's, someone like Grimes even? Or Meatloaf?

intps are confident introverts. we despise social interactions at all cost but can fit in (at least pretending to) when needed. we don't talk often and when we do, we talk with facts and truths. you see, most of the time people can't handle that so it's better for us to mind our own business. we don't waste time on unbeneficial small talks and interactions. we silently do what's right for us and still get misunderstood in society. i don't understand wtf do people want?
I definitely dont despite socialization lol
@@DiamanteDea then perhaps you're not introvert?
@@Dolores.Umbridge actually introvert does not equal shy or reclusive... Im an introvert but am outgoing with strangers and friends and love going out at least once a week😊😊😊😊
Understanding someone's cognitive funtions from their MBTI type is really easy. If someone is a "P", their dominant decision making function (F vs T) is introverted and their weaker decision making function is extroverted. A "P" has their dominant perceiving function (S or N) as extroverted and their weaker perceiving function as introverted. In my last two sentences, replace " "P" " with " "J" " and replace every instance of the words "introverted" and "extroverted" with their opposite and you'll get two correct senteces. I could type more but it would be too much effort.
E2 explains the cognitive functions and E3 will dive deeper. ruclips.net/video/KDAm3U7YaT8/видео.html
I have the codependency cherries! Love the ice-cream analogy btw
Thanks! This is my video btw. Fun Easter egg, the narcissistic personality disorder nuts on an ESTJ french vanilla is my ex-wife. Nuts because she was nuts lol
"Thinking Creative" for me almost wears the facade of an oxymoron. As an INTP and someone who has delved deeply into this subject I still find myself unsettled by this seeming paradox because while I pride myself in my analytical abilities, my creative side is simply useless to me. It's too spontaneous and unconscious, or even too low energy. Finding a real and lasting medium through which to channel creative impulses is a task that is beset by difficulties arising from the very traits embedded in this personality type which give my creativity any life in the first place, such as the one that forces me to chase impulsive interests rather than committing to an action.
Not to sounds like a creep but do you mind sharing what you do for a living? I feel like the analytical and creative parts of my personality constantly clash and why choosing a major has been the hardest thing to do.
It may sound weird, but I am an INTP artist. I guess the thinking and analytical part has to do with studying nature with subjects like anatomy, perspective, color theory, lighting, etc and the creative part is applying all the knowledge into the artworks after understanding them.
I think you need to rethink your definition of "creativity"
@@BenjaminAdebowale I am not saying that INTPs are not creative. We just tend to prioritize the perfection of an idea or form within or minds over the physical expression of it. Hence a lot of our creative ideas tend to not make "the cut" and simply live and die in our minds. While we do have spontaneous inspiration, the tedious processes that are typical in art are too often interrupted by the thinking process, and commitment to tangible project of an artistic sort is difficult.
@T South u gay
We "don't go out of their way", we have no choice. It's the way we are wired and to go against it is to find and understand how to completely act and think based solely on the heart and gut and have the brain do absolutely very little except secondary afterthought.
I belong here.. period..
*Irrelevant comment*
sitting here thinking bout how hard it is for me to talk about my feelings and certain emotions with other people.. however a little liquid courage always gets the best of me and I’ll start to let a lot of shit out ... I absolutely hate being like this .. but i’ve just got to deal with it.. And no im not an alcoholic.. its just that when I DO drink socially.. i feel like i start to reveal myself to others... and they are all so dumbfounded like holy shit I had no idea you were ever like this/feel this way... this leads me to believe I’m going to have a real hard time finding a life partner, but I do find a little comfort in realizing theres a lot of people that also feel this way
I love science and art but I never really got to do much science. I guess because dropped out of school and got my GED.
I had an Alien marathon recently and definitely pegged Ripley as an INTP like myself. The one person in the group willing (and capable!) to do what needs doing even when things are going to shit.
I'm an INTP but most people can't stand me for being so logical, saying I'm cold :( I'm still satisfied with what I am though
An interesting and unconventional video series left unfinished... author must be an INTP ;)
Im super attracted to jesse eisenberg idk why
Probably because he's a jew.
Lanie kittie me tooooooooo☺☺☺☺☺☺☺
Just going to keep watching while laid back and with no aversions to taboo. I'm also proud of everyone keeping it unique and brilliant down here in the comments.
I thought, I was an INTJ . but I'm proud to be INTP!
One thing I despise Data for: deciding to go with small talk instead of reforming it.
good information overall, but you need to look at audio balance. The volume of your voice, vs the volume of the music in the background was really, really off, and made it difficult to focus on what you were saying.
I'm an INTP that used to be an ISFP. But I can still relate a lot to the ISFP. Since I used to be a sensing and feeling type I feel like I'm not SUPER insensitive and can deal with other's emotions a bit better than an INTP with very high Intuition and Thinking percentages. Anyone else?
I always assumed I was autistic.
Wonder how many intp's get diagnosed with asperger's
Literally same. I went back and forth between the two as far as self diagnosis. But my sensory issues and other things put me more on the autistic spectrum. But I'm an INTP through and through.
I agree. I think I'm autistic as well. I feel soo like an alien in social surroundings. And often find that I have said at least 1 wrong thing each time. Ups.
And I don't get amused and excited about the same things as my peers. And I am bad with eye contact. And....
Okay. You get the picture. Watching a lot of videos on autism in females gave me such a relief. More than any Meyers Briggs description could have.
Ernesto Powers i seriously though it was just me omg
As an ENTP I can relate and also confused. My search results were always INTJ but I came to know it was my shadow personality since all my traits match with those of entp.
Larry David isn't an INTP. He's an ESTJ.
2:28 I related so much to this awkward small talk moment
Ah that data shit killed me lmao so me
Feels great to be part of the gang of Einstein's personality.
Btw Richard Feynmann was similar too.
Only that he was an ENTP.
Is physics easy for you guys as well?
I am a red pilled INTP-A , ask me what a living hell is like. The best I can figure it's other people lol.
Black pill helps solve your red pill psychosis
I'm not going to lie the thumbnail got me The Matrix is f****** awesome
This video is a bit too much sensory overload.
I agree.
INTP woman here. I didn’t think it was that rare.
I have a crush on an INTP guy..
Ah..
Go approach him and if things work out thank me later !!!😊😊
Approach him and be patient
Amira Chan bro u should say u like him first or else he is not confessing anytime soon TRUST ME
3:12- No, INTPs do not CHOOSE hard truth over ignorant bliss...They HAVE no choice.
Their minds don’t let them get away with dishonesty.
I need learn English to understand this video
Coloca a legenda em inglês e vai pausando. Eh tenso mas em 6 meses tu já vai ser capaz de ler rapidamente, mais 6 meses nem ler vai precisar.
Random knowledge interest me the most than reading the whole school book.
👏👏👐👐
Your examples of INTPs are offensive. Also. You can't type historical figures. You can't administer the test to them. And you haven't had a chance to work with them more closely. Also. MBTI has little validity anyway. Especially for general character traits. It was originally developed to help assign people the most appropriate kind of work. Ans even if we wish to use it for that purpose, there are still many problems with the test. Abd even the concept that it is based on.
Elena Kusevska ph my god this entire comment is just bitching. And no, its not offensive, fuck off with your sensitivity
@@ceilingeye What I meant to say is that. First of all you can't type fictional and historical figures. It's just incorrect to do that. Also. People identifying fictional characters like data and spok as INTPs is extremely misleading and inaccurate and it perpetuates a bad stereotype. Young people with poor social skills do an mbti test. They get INTP. They see these fictional characters, and it just builds on their pathological sense of self.
If they are indeed INTP, then they are probably very emotional, because INTPs are curious, but they're also easily excited and might be a little slower in their emotional development, making them more sensitive. Having "T" in the type doesn't mean you have no emotions. It just means you prefer to analyze and think about things. INTPs (or any T - type) can be very emotional, but they can also have emotional problems, so they should be encouraged to develop and understand their emotions. Rather than internalizing an unhealthy pattern of repressing their emotions.
There is no mbti type that is like spok or data. These are fictional chareceters and are one-dimensional. Humans are not like that.
Also. A T-F dichotomy... it does kinda relate to certain traits that humans have. But it doesn't quite get it. Because there is no such thing as thinker vs. feeler. We are all thinkers and feelers. But some people are better at analysis and critical thinking. And some people might also have better emotional capacity, empathy, etc. Or someone might have both, or neither. These are just two different aspects of the human psyche. I'm not even sure if it's related to personality or not. I think emotional capacity is not. And IQ is not either.
Elena Kusevska you just wrote out a longer version of your original bitchy comment.
Hmm I don’t agree that it’s offensive, I guess it’s just a different opinion, because I think these kinds of videos can be fun sometimes, but as long as a person doesn’t take the stereotypes too seriously. Though I do agree with your other statements about an INTP shouldn’t be compared to fictional characters since they’re very static and act like robots sometimes especially since people can take that stereotype too seriously and the part where you said a person who has a T doesn’t mean they don’t feel, but instead they don’t have that as a strong trait so the emotional development is slower in INTP. I’ve never thought about it, and it’s no wonder :O one of my small life mysteries solved. But yeah I’m just saying
Damn, I became a medieval professor listening to the music.
Sometimes I feel like I would love to be more understood but to the price of being able to learn a lot of complex things very fast in solitude. Im computer scientist, math tutor and musician. I love being myself but its lying to say that’s it’s always a good thing to be INTP I felt off for a long time like im from an other planet or something.
People should appreciate practical application more. It is only through a mixture of theorizing, applying, and re-theorizing that nature and other things can be truly represented, i.e. understood.
When u see many INTPs out there mostly professor but u are here searching for your cat's MBTI personality type in the internet😂
Proud of being INTP
The trick thing about being a INTP is: we are humble BUT we want to be recognized for what we do at the fucking same time, like when someone give you a compliment and internally we are like "oh i like it" but outside your face is red as a tomato haha is hard
Bahahhahah the ice cream example was too good
