  • What is an INTP? Are you an INTP or have a loved one who is an INTP? Or are you exploring personalities and MBTI?
    In our first episode of "INTP: The Thinking Creative" we seek to understand what personality is and why there are personality preferences. We'll take a look of some famous examples of INTPs in order to get a feel for the type and explain the difference between personality and individuals.

      Savanna Obregon I agree as an intp that struggles with a superiority complex. I know I’m only human and I don’t really feel all that “better” than others, but in most social interactions I feel like I have to dumb myself down to talk to someone.

      Mbti is a dead typology, dunno why people are getting so hyped about "rare personalities" whether they're mocking it or indulging in it. People can't truly be categorised so the way some people think it's arguable valid topic is funny, it's not even applicable. As for the idea of a small group of people being snowflakes, it doesn't make much sense. Snow flakes are actually common, because they drift towards pop culture (popular culture) and "trolls" (people who think they are 'all knowing' with the truth) make them popular with their reactions. Snowflakes also tend to have a distorted sense of reality so they only ever claim to be a minority when they aren't actually. So snowflakes only see themselves as different from everyone else, but that's just a self awareness issue, there are people who are actually different from the majority but Mbti doesn't represent it well because it's dependent on a persons self image which means it relies on their self awareness. Just thought I'd comment to make it clear that the Mbti test results shouldn't matter enough to get people attacking others for their results, its just an old system to learn about as history rather than use it to make a viable statement about people.

    "They believe there is only one truth, one reality" - that's a rather broad characteristic and isn't particularly fitting. It confuses truth and Truth, not differentiating them and/or treating them as one. Many INTP's, do not search for Truth as we can't be sure such a thing even exists, but rather search to find, strengthen, and edit our own thoughts/beliefs. This would be a conceptional truth, more than a search for universal Truth.

    I am an INTP - originally lacking social abilities/emotion recognition - but a few good friends of mine; a few of them being INTJs, have taught me how people work and I have a much better understanding now. This is a result of my frequent question asking on stuff like "Did I say that right?" or "was that rude?". After a few years I feel a lot more comfortable around people and social events are considerably more enjoyable to me now that I can understand a lot more about the people involved in them and the events themselves. I'de recommend to direct at least some of your curious nature as an INTP to understanding how humans operate - as you'll be dealing with them throughout your whole life (or so I've been told). It sure has helped me - and I'm still learning (as ever).

      You know, there are a lot of books teaching social norms, relationships, and human psyche. I studied these books since I was 9 (Greek Mythology is so good). Later I observed people I encountered in schools and social circles to find correlation. INTP’s brain is powerful. You can learn everything by digging material and information.

  • @PowerRedBullTypology
    @PowerRedBullTypology 5 лет назад +184

    I think the strength of INTP's is that they do not need books as much as other types, as their ability to pick up how things as concept work is problably the best of all 16 types.
    The strength of the intp lies in the ability to dissect reality into smaller components to naturally understand their relationship. The thing about books is that books rather serve the Te user who's more intersted in taking ominformation to use for a certain goal rather than figuring something out themselvs. This is contrast with the INTP who wants to understand things more rather than using that information for a certain goal. So basically the INTP is the best decoder of concepts and the INTJ problably the best coder. However, books usually have already decoded stuff and often not really in an optimal fashion. I've learned more about subjects just by inspecting them abstractly, rather than by reading about them. However, I'm sure this does not always apply of course, since you do need certain basic or more advanced info first. However, what I try to say is that the strength of the INTP does often lie in figuring things on their own by just thinking about them.

      As I age as an INTP I find I read less than I did in my youth. It's seems today as more and more the world (run by non NT's) has become far less complex, people generally state the obvious as their epiphanies... I do more and more feel like I am trapped in a world full of goldfish, and to better cope and mesh, I have to work at being oblivious... Actively forcing myself to not consume knowledge as life and society became more and more frustrating, our tenacity to beat people into the ground over their beliefs not backed by fact and just conspiracy just oozes simple-mindedness to me.
      Always deviled advocate, not understanding how people get consumed by there lack of understanding... My curiosity just can't sit still long enough to ground itself to one reality... There's a million and one things on my brain and my brain thinks of the thinking I need to do to think about the one million and one things until I'm just thinking to think about nothing.
      One image for me that always comes to mind is neo (in matrix) when he's brought to the loading stage of the matrix... The scene where all the rows and rows of weapons appear... It's like my mind when I'm asked to think about one think or my opinion... I just lock up, which may come off aloof but rather I feel overwhelmed by the vast amount of knowledge that I can present, the frustration then of having to communicate it in Lehmanns, doubting it's even received as I deem necessary, all in a flash, and end up not giving voice... Or just steering clear of remark.

      I agree. But we don't merely think while we try to understand the truth behind something. If we are really motivated, we will take the untrodden path on our own to really dig deep. This usually results us in going against the social norms and experiencing the unknown. Something that most people would refuse to do so.

    Are many of you fellas aspies or AD(H)D? I'm an INTP-T with ADHD. I definitely see myself as more of a "philosopher" rather than that clean, straightforward mathematician type. I question everything to the point that I agree with radical empiricism. I cannot express my weirdass way of thinking verbally. It's like I get these moments where I just intuitively realise something profound and when I try to say it outloud it turns to utter shit. Also English isn't my first language and I get anxiety over some native speaker reading this and deciding to call me out for being an imposter. I don't have my face attached to this post and no one knows or gives two shits about me. Still, I feel like my fragile ego is at stake here. So you may wonder, why won't I just check online to avoid being grammatically incorrect. I'm too lazy. Also it looks like my lifelong messiness around my living-/workspace just won't go away with age..

Do you prefere the chesty sound of Franco Corelli, Maria Callas and Ielena Obraztsova, or the lighter sound of Joyce Didonato, Juan Diego Florez or Elina Garanca?

    If you want to be better at communication, go practice it! Develop your skills. The end.
    Ok, a bit more maybe. It's just another skill that can be improved. There's books on it, read them, apply them. Go have conversations with strangers and friends for 20 hours or even a 100 hours total. Your brain will get better at it. That's a no brainer.
    Oh waiit, we're all lazy at first. Alright. Ready to change your life? Like, right now! Ok, here goes. Just completely quit the internet/gaming/computer/watching series. It had to be absolutely eraticated. Yup..... Took me two years to realize this fact. May not be a fact for you though but I'm sure I'm not the only one it holds true for. Ok. NOW! Understanding someone's cognitive funtions from their MBTI type is really easy. If someone is a "P", their dominant decision making function (F vs T) is introverted and their weaker decision making function is extroverted. A "P" has their dominant perceiving function (S or N) as extroverted and their weaker perceiving function as introverted. In my last two sentences, replace " "P" " with " "J" " and replace every instance of the words "introverted" and "extroverted" with their opposite and you'll get two correct senteces. I could type more but it would be too much effort.

    "Thinking Creative" for me almost wears the facade of an oxymoron. As an INTP and someone who has delved deeply into this subject I still find myself unsettled by this seeming paradox because while I pride myself in my analytical abilities, my creative side is simply useless to me. It's too spontaneous and unconscious, or even too low energy. Finding a real and lasting medium through which to channel creative impulses is a task that is beset by difficulties arising from the very traits embedded in this personality type which give my creativity any life in the first place, such as the one that forces me to chase impulsive interests rather than committing to an action.

      It may sound weird, but I am an INTP artist. I guess the thinking and analytical part has to do with studying nature with subjects like anatomy, perspective, color theory, lighting, etc and the creative part is applying all the knowledge into the artworks after understanding them.

    • @coolishmike
      @coolishmike 5 лет назад +5

      @@BenjaminAdebowale I am not saying that INTPs are not creative. We just tend to prioritize the perfection of an idea or form within or minds over the physical expression of it. Hence a lot of our creative ideas tend to not make "the cut" and simply live and die in our minds. While we do have spontaneous inspiration, the tedious processes that are typical in art are too often interrupted by the thinking process, and commitment to tangible project of an artistic sort is difficult.

    good information overall, but you need to look at audio balance. The volume of your voice, vs the volume of the music in the background was really, really off, and made it difficult to focus on what you were saying.

    I'm an INTP that used to be an ISFP. But I can still relate a lot to the ISFP. Since I used to be a sensing and feeling type I feel like I'm not SUPER insensitive and can deal with other's emotions a bit better than an INTP with very high Intuition and Thinking percentages. Anyone else?

      Literally same. I went back and forth between the two as far as self diagnosis. But my sensory issues and other things put me more on the autistic spectrum. But I'm an INTP through and through.

      I agree. I think I'm autistic as well. I feel soo like an alien in social surroundings. And often find that I have said at least 1 wrong thing each time. Ups.
      And I don't get amused and excited about the same things as my peers. And I am bad with eye contact. And....
      Okay. You get the picture. Watching a lot of videos on autism in females gave me such a relief. More than any Meyers Briggs description could have.

    Your examples of INTPs are offensive. Also. You can't type historical figures. You can't administer the test to them. And you haven't had a chance to work with them more closely. Also. MBTI has little validity anyway. Especially for general character traits. It was originally developed to help assign people the most appropriate kind of work. Ans even if we wish to use it for that purpose, there are still many problems with the test. Abd even the concept that it is based on.

    • @ceilingeye

      Elena Kusevska ph my god this entire comment is just bitching. And no, its not offensive, fuck off with your sensitivity

    • @elenakusevska6266
      @elenakusevska6266 5 лет назад +1

      @@ceilingeye What I meant to say is that. First of all you can't type fictional and historical figures. It's just incorrect to do that. Also. People identifying fictional characters like data and spok as INTPs is extremely misleading and inaccurate and it perpetuates a bad stereotype. Young people with poor social skills do an mbti test. They get INTP. They see these fictional characters, and it just builds on their pathological sense of self.
      If they are indeed INTP, then they are probably very emotional, because INTPs are curious, but they're also easily excited and might be a little slower in their emotional development, making them more sensitive. Having "T" in the type doesn't mean you have no emotions. It just means you prefer to analyze and think about things. INTPs (or any T - type) can be very emotional, but they can also have emotional problems, so they should be encouraged to develop and understand their emotions. Rather than internalizing an unhealthy pattern of repressing their emotions.
      There is no mbti type that is like spok or data. These are fictional chareceters and are one-dimensional. Humans are not like that.
      Also. A T-F dichotomy... it does kinda relate to certain traits that humans have. But it doesn't quite get it. Because there is no such thing as thinker vs. feeler. We are all thinkers and feelers. But some people are better at analysis and critical thinking. And some people might also have better emotional capacity, empathy, etc. Or someone might have both, or neither. These are just two different aspects of the human psyche. I'm not even sure if it's related to personality or not. I think emotional capacity is not. And IQ is not either.

    • @fluffyfire1960
      @fluffyfire1960 5 лет назад +1

      Hmm I don’t agree that it’s offensive, I guess it’s just a different opinion, because I think these kinds of videos can be fun sometimes, but as long as a person doesn’t take the stereotypes too seriously. Though I do agree with your other statements about an INTP shouldn’t be compared to fictional characters since they’re very static and act like robots sometimes especially since people can take that stereotype too seriously and the part where you said a person who has a T doesn’t mean they don’t feel, but instead they don’t have that as a strong trait so the emotional development is slower in INTP. I’ve never thought about it, and it’s no wonder :O one of my small life mysteries solved. But yeah I’m just saying

    People should appreciate practical application more. It is only through a mixture of theorizing, applying, and re-theorizing that nature and other things can be truly represented, i.e. understood.
