Daniela Rodriguez ha you speak sooo truuue 🙌🙌🙌 a lot of bartenders focus almost tooo much on the drinks and forget about the people ;) We’re performers and psychologists and makers 🤘⚡️👽
Haha I didn’t know that was a thing, when she salted just a bit I thought “why not salt the whole thing!!” I always make sure the salt is enough for every sip when I order a margarita
I have to admit, when I saw the time of the video, I thought, "How do you get 18 minutes on making a margarita?"" Never been so happy to be wrong! Learned a lot about technique, felt like I was behind the bar the first day learning the real work. Thanks to you and Jen for the great piece!
This was a nice tutorial. I learned so much even as a newbie who has already watched dozens of other videos. Really appreciating the small details from the ice explanation, the half rimming and not allowing salt to fall in when pouring, when she mentioned filling the jigger all the way to the top, even explaining the way the hawthorn strainer can act as a gate. These tiny details helped me to improve my margarita. Love her personality as well. This was great!
So enjoyed your bartender friend. Very cool and easy to follow along. Thanks for the tips! I like that the rim had areas salted and not. Looking forward to the mojitos! I have a bunch of mint in my garden!
A few small additions: For rimming the glass, use maldon salt, tastes a whole lot better, flakes are nicer and are less strong then normal salt. For rimming, make a small cut to lime wedge and place the corner of the glass in the cut, you can make a easy and even round around the glass then. For adding sugar, i prefer agave syrup Replace cointreau with grand marnier which is a orange flavored cognac, the taste will change drastically, might not be everybodys ball game I prefer reposado tequila over bianco, 1800 is my favorite but it doesnt matter too much after the second glass :)
Really great information in this one! I had no idea about the “gate” and how to use one until I watched this video. Great interaction between you two! I loved how she walked you through making your own drink from start to finish. Since I grow fresh jalapeños, I will definitely be trying the jalapeño infused margarita.
I go away for a few months and come back and you turn into a superstar. All that hard work is paying off but also remember to enjoy the ride. Also great video. Should do one on vodka martinis.
The Dork Web Ha, as I said - rockin’ was being done. Or achieved. Or plugged in. Whatever happened, the margarita game was cranked up to 11 for sure! He tries to inspire and help people through his love of food; I try to do it through a love of helping people challenge themselves and choose happy in life... Guess we’re actually not that different after all! Anyway, great stuff, and we’ll try your recipe next time we have a summer bash! Thanks again!
Been a cocktail bartender for over 10 years in London but also love cooking. Always feel like cooking channels on YT miss the mark when they try and make drinks "I've paired my artisanal pasta with incredible seasonal ingredients with this disgusting syrupy sweet and sour mess." This is the first time I feel a "cooking show" has NAILED a cocktail (although I'm personally not a fan of casamigos or 'lime tattooing'). I hope Jen goes on to show some cocktails of her own creation. It's amazing to me that chefs who put a huge focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients, always overlook the same principles when making drinks.
blksky 😂😂😂🎯🎯🎯 “-with this disgusting syrupy sweet and sour mess.” EXACTLY! The mind shift is happening...! Chef Achatz and my old Aviary crew brought my mind into a whole WORLD of possibilities and new considerations for mixed drinks - with and without alcohol🙏🔥⚡️ I also LOVE cooking and pastries - that only makes us better bartenders! Future-forward. Finding balance.💪 Fresh ingredients. Yes. Same principles-New techniques. YES. Creating new things. HELLS YES🤘⚡️🙌 Thank you for watching! LOVE comments from my brothers and sisters of the bar 👊 [any chance you know The Parlour, folks?] Cheers!
I was watching your channel not paying attention to the amount of views you get, and went to see how many you get and expected at least a million! You are so underrated

Making a Mexican Dinner for tonight's New Years Eve with another couple. I will definitely this recipe and tips from you both to accompany the food. Would be awesome to enjoy a Marg with you and chat about food and cooking it. Thank you for all your amazing well produced videos and kitchen knowledge. I have been on my cooking journey for over 5 yrs now. I've migrated thru quite a few of the usual suspect Chef's all who have helped to get me started. But this past year I have discovered Chef Jeanne Pierre and now you! My two personal favorite "Kitchen now it all's" for learning and recipe instruction. You both take your time to explain in great detail the what, how and why for food prep and cooking of a recipe. Keep up the good tasty work! CHEERS 8-)
Well, I just had one of those ; ) Purchased all the same ingredients and yum, it's a good Margarita! Feel like I took a valium lol ; ) Nice!!!! Thanks for sharing. I was in New Orleans last Summer and had a delicious pineapple Margarita, would like to see if I can recreate that cocktail. Yes, have a segment on Mojitos! I like those. Thanks Jen ; )
so cute love the line cravings in the limes! super creative great idea we love that look! plan to try it soon thank you for posting helpful content for bartenders
I know it’s a sin but I like to add a pinch of salt to the drink rather then salting the rim to tame the saltiness but still bring out the lime. Tajin is also really good on the rim :)
Im not a bar tender and never have been, but I like to make cocktails at home. I like to use a good Reposado and Grand Marnier as the two spirits. Instead of simple syrup, I prefer agave syrup.
im a bartender, and i like this way of garnishing etc .... will use that technique of only salt a side of tumbler instead of making a rim on a martini-glass ... yaaas dude
Half rim of salt, always. I have found that yours and my recipes are very similar. In Canada, by law, we can only do 2oz of liquor in a drink, so mine is 1oz tequila (I like Casamigos as well), and .5oz Cointreau, and 1oz lime. I use a touch of OJ (.25oz-.4oz) in mine, and half an ounce of Agave syrup rather than simple syrup. The OJ gives a bit of colour, and the agave just gives a little more flavour.
Great episode!! I love margaritas and this was a great representation of a proper margarita. A couple of things that I would like to point out. Always use a tequila that's made from 100% agave. This means that it's nothing but tequila. This will always be prominently displayed on the label. If it's not 100% agave, other sugars, are used to lower the cost of making the tequila, but your flavor is inevitably also diminished. In the video, you used a blanco or silver tequila. That's a great choice. These tequilas will be aged for no more than three months in stainless steel containers. It's my opinion that these tequilas will give you the stronger taste that you need in order to better balance with the other ingredients. If you use a Reposado, it'll be the most aged tequila. Fantastic to taste, but gets lost in the lime juice, Cuantro and sweetness of the syrup. Happy tasting!!
Dude great job on this video. I learned some really good tips, I love the tattooing of the limes, and the pics you set up of the finished cocktail were dope. I love tequila, but it’s definitely not all the same. I’ve made many margarita’s with that same standard recipe, used both blanco and repisoda tequilas. I’ve enjoyed blanco that’s only $20 a liter like El Jimador and really didn’t like $30 blanco like Espolon. But with reposada it seems like you’re getting what you paid for that’s for sure. Casamingos is quality, George Clooney did it right when he made that line of tequila. I also love Codigo which is around the same price point, easier to find for me up here in Maine. And anything that Hornitos does in my opinion is quality, especially their Crystalino, damn that shits good lol. Again great job to the both of you, killer video loved the tips and tricks
In a nutshell: INGREDIENTS: 2 oz. Blanco Tequila, I prefer Casamigos 3/4 oz. fresh lime juice 1/2 oz. Cointreau 1/4 oz. simple syrup Diamond Kosher salt, Coarse Chilled Cocktail Glasses
This was cool to watch. I used to work in a Mexican restaurant and I make my margarita’s with the same ingredients (Cointreau really is the best) Definitely need to get my hands on a jigger and shaker, I usually just eye ball lol.

This is my favorite margarita and I've been making it now for years. I do add alittle more agave for my husband because he likes it sweet lol. The problem is that I make it a glass at a time when my friends come over. They all want seconds and thirds : ). My question is how can I make this recipe for a small group of 4 or 5? Can I make this ahead and just use my math skills lol? Does it store ok the night before so I'm not making it all the next day. Thanks in advance.

I won't lie about my circumstances out here in CA. This type of access requires a trip into San Franciso. Otherwise, it is a bunch of cow towns up North. New York seems to provide a homogeneity unachieved throughout Cali. Yes, the further South you go in CA the less the "Leave it to Beaver, Mayberry" you get--you just trade it in for anonymity with the despair of endless sprawl. It's the classic "grass is greener" scenario. In less flowery terms I'm saying a cool bartender like this isn't just going to drop out of the sky and hit you on your head in the spaces I seem to occupy.
Very nice. I just use the recipe on the Cointreau bottle. 2 blanco, 1 Lime, 1 Cointreau. There’s no need to add simple syrup. Of course, adjust to your personal taste.
Jump ahead to 8:40 to the actual margarita making a skip the prep. It's a long one. And go check out Jen! instagram.com/theDORKWEB/

A few small additions:

I agree with the agave syrup and salt flakes! I find that with a nice aged tequila I often don’t use salt at all.
