I have never commented on line before, though I have had decades of creative experience. I really love your style. My theatre design prof encouraged me by saying…you can teach how to draw but you can’t teach taste…you have abundant taste,an eye for colour and a love of the process. I enjoyed it completely. To add to your skills I suggest always ironing before cutting. If the fabric is flimsy use some spray starch. Draw your pieces on paper first and try them out, then outline on plastic or card. Hold down on flat surface and draw around. Then you may cut your fabric. For the lovely leaves… to get the best scene, spray the finished pieces with heavy starch two or three times. They will move better and be seen. Iron on interfacing is always a big help. I stuff my projects with shredded scraps too stained, torn, old or funky to be seen. I am making pumpkins and leaves and borrowing your vibe. Many blessings on your continued artistic practice.😊
I'm the old friend with the cabin. Bre...you have always been amazing at your talent. Thx for this wonderful video featuring the cabin. The pumpkin character was awesome
Love your creations. Your videos are beautifully edited and I find them relaxing. I appreciate you keeping it real with the fails. You have inspired me to look for fall type fabrics in my own stash to make a pumpkin pillow.
I love all these ideas and using up scrap fabric!! Also your blue top / green corset outfit is SENSATIONAL, it's giving flower collecting by day, sword fighting bandits by night ✨✨
First time visitor to your channel- lovely pumpkins! And really like your drawing, too! And, my dear, you are lovely! You look like someone who walked out of a Mary Cassatt painting. 😊 Look forward to seeing your Christmas projects. Happy fall!
Seen the title of the video and said outloud mind you "ohhh YES" and it didnt disappoint. The Cronch Cronch sound of the scissors is ✨very✨ audibly pleasing btw 🤣
omg YAY, glad it didn't disappoint, there were several points where i thought this whole video was going to be a fail lol. & yes i agree about the scissors, so much of sewing is so audibly pleasing imo!
Okay Bre! As IF I didn’t love you already. 😭 We took my Dolly Parton-loving daughter to Pigeon Forge in August. Dollywood was hands down our favorite vacation. I love this entire video. 🥰
Hello Bre I hope you enjoyed your getaway. I loved this videa and I look forward to the next with the Dollywood footage. I had a thought since the art museum in OKC was celebrating the works of Edith Head a hollywood fashion designer. There was a dress that she created for Olivia D'Havelan for the movie "The Heiress" it was a beautiful velvet crimson dress that I am in love with. I wondered if you had any ideas on how to recreate the dress and modernise it for the Christmas season? I dont sew but I would love to be able to explain what I would be wanting to a sewer. I dont know any other fashion desighner talents except for you. Is it something that you might have ideas about I would love to hear the. Thank you. i love your channel and content
just looked up the dress & it is GORGEOUS (Edith Head is a favorite of mine) & i feel like its perfect to modernize. It looks like it's actually a two piece, which i would keep since I really like the curved hem of the jacket. I would make the jacket into a vest (& put a blouse underneath, that way it could also be worn alone if you like). & i love the tiers of the skirt, but i would shorten it to more of an ankle length, and slim out the skirt to a more natural a-line (or form fitting if you like that look). Lastly, if you really want to modernize it i would take out the trim (but I also love it on, so either is a good option to me). I also think wearing a light layered petticoat instead of the crinoline underneath will also help to modernize the silhouette (which i think is obvious but had to mention). You can totally take or leave any of the advice bc honestly the original is so beautiful, & i hope i helped
@@maybebre oh thank you so much! I love the thought of the petticoat and shortening the dress to modernize it. I think that would be wonderful. And the vest. I did not realize at all that it was a two piece set. Thank you so much for the wonderful Ideas I am so new to this but I fell in love with that dress. I really love your channel and content I am learning so much about being more fearless when it comes to updating wardrobes. You are a genius thank you for these wonderful ideas.
yeah totally! It depends on what you need, if you're a beginner, Singer has some pretty good beginner machines (but they won't last you forever). Bernina machines are considered the best machines, at least in my circle, but they can run quite expensive. I'm currently saving up for one of their industrial machines, which costs a pretty penny, but they last FOREVER & are a dream to sew with (not the best for beginners tho if you are learning on your own). The machine I have currently is a Janome, which I really like. It's pretty user friendly. Not many stitch options, but enough for day to day sewing. The only downside is it doesn't take heftier fabrics well (like denim), but it does ok. If you're not a beginner and are looking for a good in between price (usually runs between $150 to $350, not cheap but mid range for a sewing machine), I'm pretty happy with this one & it's lasted me a while. I think it could also work well for a relative beginner (i don't know if your are or not so don't want to assume). I can't recommend specific machines since i've only worked on a few in my lifetime, but hope this helped somewhat!
thank you! the periwinkle shirt i wore under the corset is a SUPER old Free People shirt, like maybe 6 years at this point (on sale lol). Let me know if I'm talking about the wrong one!
omg the little jackolantern person art looks so much like an otgw oc (in the absolute best way) !! all of the decor was extremely cute, im now planning to patchwork some scrap fabric together to make those pumpkin pillows, but oooof that drawing is too precious !!
