  • What kinds of scenarios do you think this sequencing could be helpful and appropriate for? #dna #sequencing #genetics #beethoven

Fortunately they used amphibian DNA to fill the gaps. I give you Classical Park.

That's because his deafness was most likely due to syphilis.

@@thijsjong it is said . Deafness, insanity...these were major symptoms of neurosyphilis , and back then it was very common . I mean, he had Hepatitis B ... contracting Syphilis from the same person isn't difficult to imagine.

Can we resurrect him? Does someone want a Beethoven baby?
Ethical issues aside. A clone might not be intetested in music at all. Or be mediocre. Genetics is important but its not the only thing.
The outcome can also be influenced if he knows his genetic origin or not. He might rebel to the expectation. Or not.
Personally I think we should not clone geniuses as you cannot put such an expectation on a child.

Wait, how do we get DNA from hair? If it's just a clipping and not pulled out with the roots it's just keratin, right? Am I missing something?

There’s still DNA in the rest of the hair too! It’s harder to extract, which is why for so long we only talked about the roots having DNA, but new methods have made it easier.
