    5:06 I agree with this point heavily. When the WII U and 3DS eShops were closing the Completionist bought all the games on both shops and (probably) donated the consoles to the Video Game History Foundation in the name of preservation... But no one will ever get to play those games. An even earlier and more extreme example of this is when the prototype of the unreleased Genesis game, Son of MULE, was found and given to the University of Texas. It was never dumped and it just sits on display. Like cool, we know these games exist, we can talk about them and learn about the history but when they're locked up in a display case they're never going to be played. People make games to be played, not to just look at, so it is a shame that there are people who think it's evil to download a game that's not sold anymore, and if it is offered it is probably emulated poorly. In order to truly preserve games is to make them as accessible as possible, which is why the Internet Archive is the best place for games.

    Another alternative is modifying your console to play most Nintendo games. The 3DS is a good example of this because you see a ton of videos about 3DS modding, and also the Wii U too

    I wish they would actually remake jet force Gemini for the n64 it was actually a fun game and deserves a remake or reboot

    • @Wolfie15
      @Wolfie15  Год назад

      I don’t know if they’d ever remake it because it was made by Rare (now owned by Microsoft), who are really picky about the N64 classics like Conker or Banjo. If it did get a remake/reboot, it would probably end up nothing like the original.

    Arin did not invent the vlog so I'm pretty sure that beginning wasn't needed lol.
    Anyway, when it comes to offering their games for free, they typically don't. Rockstar did for GTA 1+2, and I know Bethesda did with elder scrolls 1+2(I think 1? Def. 2).
    The thing is, yes they don't need to make more money on retro games, but hosting the games would cost them money, so they don't.
    Instead, these companies tend to just look the other way if you were to shall we say, "play some backups".
    Except Nintendo. One of the most important retro catalogues and they only care about it when people try to download them for free.
    It's even funnier when you hear that allegedly, Nintendo downloaded the original Super Mario Bros rom from a pirate site, since the guy who made the rip claimed the header was the same as what he placed on his copy of the ROM when he uploaded it. It holds a lot of water when you realize most companies don't have their old source codes anymore.

      in fairness the whole style is enough like early arin stuff (sequalitis) to justify the disclaimer

    • @jesfest
      @jesfest Год назад +2

      @@tylerd4884 I disagree, Arin had a lot of shouty moments as his style, or if you prefer, bursts of high energy, which in itself wasn't that novel since many, many early RUclipsrs did the same.
      If we were to take the more calm explanatory segments, well that's just normal, isn't it?
      So we're left with his style of humour(strawmen, yelling, cursing, funny voices), which isn't here, or his analogies(chicken is to churches), which also aren't here.
      Can you point me specifically to something Arin trademarked as his style that's copied in this?

    In the oasis there's an entire massive planet filled with retro video game arcades
    All the way down to some of the earliest games
    And I can only imagine how epic it would be to log into a VR world filled with every game you can think of and just enjoy
