the joker
Nathaniel ''Nate'' Jacobs- ''Rebeckah, Im going to visit you tonight.''
Turles and Goku Black
Wait a minute...you thought the cartoony racist family in Get Out was realistic?
Democrats are pretty racist but I haven't seen any families that over the top ET like in their actions and behaviors.
Now, DiCaprio as Calvin Candie in Django Unchained definitely fits Democrats of the 20th and 21st centuries.
I don't think it's too much of a stretch to think he was just like them from 1825 to 1899.
There are animated villains on this list. You stated that there wouldn’t be.
"You know, I'm something of a great villain myself."
-Willem DaGOAT (Green Goblin)
Lol
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Goat
I love how the whole “Dark Knight” trilogy was in this list
Agree, although for Batman Begins, I do prefer Liam Neeson's Ra's al Ghul over Cillian Murphy's Scarecrow.
IKR
Indeed it deserved
@@yugmittal445 forget either one, I’m arguing Palpatine for 2005
@@nepatrul6075 Yeah true. Palpatine was amazing in Revenge of the Sith. Had both the Republic and the Separatist on both sides of the board. Still mad that they did him dirty in Rise of Skywalker
"If you're good at something, never do it for free"
- Joker
One of the most effective statements that uttered by a vallain character like joker which had a great impact on me
“As children we love the heroes, but as we get older we grow to understand the villains.”
- Unknown
WE LIVE IN A SOCIETY
For me it was the opposite
For me, it was the opposite
Green Goblin from No Way Home should’ve been at the 2021 spot. Not only is he complex but he did the one thing he failed to do in the Tobey Maguire Spiderman universe: he killed Aunt May
2021 might've been the worst decision I've ever seen. Green Goblin renewed one of the best villain performances of all time with the same quality. The tragic story of Wenwu was also made incredible by the actor's performance. There could be more that are much better than the Baroness but I can't think of them right now.
Darkseid, the father in Shang Chi, Doc Ock, Electro, Stefan from No Time to Die, Micheal Myers, Zemo from Falcon and the Winter Soilder, Carnage from Venom 2, Agatha from WandaVision, AND EVERY VILLAIN IN 2021 THAT'S NOT THE BARONESS WAS RIGGED!
Agree, even Sub zero and Mechagodzilla are threatening then her
Imo Green Goblin is THE best Villain of 2021
Hell nah, green goblin isn't that good
@@barry2349 u trippin
The villains of cinematic history, they've made an everlasting impact on us all throughout the years!!!
True
J.K. Simmons did a great job playing the character Terence Fletcher and he deserved an Oscar for “Best Supporting Actor” in 2015.
Which he did get
The Joker is not only the best villain of 2008, but also the best villain of the decade
Of the 21st century thus far
OF ALL TIME
@@lilpally387 w
Spelled overrated wrong. Dark Knight wouldn't have won half the awards if not for Heath dying. 🤷♂️
Nah.
2005 had such a variety of villains:
Palpatine and Anakin in "Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith"
Jadis the White Witch in "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe"
Voldemort in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire"
The aliens in "War of the Worlds"
I still don’t get why they would choose Scarecrow, a Batman villain with little screen time, over Palpatine who managed to wipe out the Jedi order, full of the same Jedi characters we’ve watched in the previous prequel movies, and established THE EMPIRE from the original trilogy.
@@Predatorwarrior18 Scarecrow was still amazing
@@Alpha-bt9bh he’s not even the villain of Begins 🤣
Palpatine deserves 2005
Collin Sullivan the departed
2008:
Joker (played by Heath Ledger) from ‘The Dark Knight.’
Joker ( Heath Ledger ) and Thanos are my favorite in this list
W
Thanos is inevitable
Fun Fact: Christopher Lee has mostly played villains in movies
And so has Alan Rickman
good anime
@@sislik4138 not really
@@rhibrammii1153 bruh he has tho or do u even know who Alan Rickman is
He played a dentist on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
2006 should have been Davy Jones from Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
I see your point, but I’d also give it to Vidal, I really wanted him to die.
Exactly how can Scarecrow make the list but not Jones smh
How can scarecrow and kylo make the list but not palpatine and Davy Jones
Terrifying, yet so broken
This list is bullshit
Good god! I just realized Gladiator is 22 years old and I watched it a few weeks ago and it absolutely still holds up!
Ikr
Its my age😲
There’s two corrections I’d make.
1. 2019- Joker (Joaquin Phoenix)
2. 2021- Green Goblin
2005: Darth Sidious
@@Predatorwarrior18 I really like Scarecrow and Ra’s Al Ghul. Palpatine is great tho. Very close
Loki over Bane. Bane was ruined by the reveal that he was just a pawn.
2014/15 Richmond Valentine in Kingsman: The Secret Service
@@FungiRy91 Nope, Bane was way more intimidating than Loki and he did way more damage to the protagonist than whatever loki did lmao
the fact that Willem Dafoe's green goblin isn't on this list is pure insanity. one of the greatest villains in movie history and Dafoe gave him a terrifying portrayal. his performance gives me chills to this very day
Villains are always interesting to watch . Tom Hardy as Bane was amazing, Heath Ledgers Joker , Pennywise from It , Hans Landa in Inglorious Basterds , Calvin Candie in Django Unchained, and many more 🙂
2003: agent Smith
2005: darth sidious
2008: joker
2012: bane
2016: baron zemo
2017: pennywise
2018: thanos
2021: Green goblin
2022: riddiler
2003 Gollum and sauron
2005 Adam sutler v for Vendetta
2009 Draco Malfoy
2021 : Baron Harkonen
21:00 An Empire Toppled by its Enemies can rise again, but one which crumbles from within, that's Dead.... Forever - Helmut Zemo
That is the most Iconic Quote from a Villain consumed by Vengeance, it really shows what Zemo's Motivation is...
"we know technically Thanos is CGI, but we had to make an exception with this one".... Sooo... The dragon Smaug is real? Awesome. Real life dragons! 😂
Heath ledgers joker is definitely one of my favourite villains. It's just how he played it and the fact he committed to the role so much. An agent of chaos literally. Also love the fact that he claims to be clueless yet he's really organised and manipulative.
Gerard Butler's character Clyde Shelton in "Law Abiding Citizen" was also a good one
My take goes to the following for each year:
2000: Magneto (X-Men)
2001: Saruman (The Lord of the Rings The Fellowship of the Ring)
2002: Green Goblin (Spider-Man)
2003: Sauron (The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King)
2004: Dr. Octopus (Spider-Man 2)
2005: The White Witch (The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe); Emperor Palpatine (Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith)
2006: Le Chiffre (Casino Royale)
2007: Dolores Umbridge (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix)
2008: The Joker (The Dark Knight)
2009: Lord Blackwood (Sherlock Holmes)
2010: Lotso (Toy Story 3)
2011: Lord Voldemort (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2)
2012: Loki (The Avengers); Raoul Silva (Skyfall)
2013: Smaug (The Hobbit The Desolation of Smaug)
2014: Koba (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes)
2015: Kylo Ren (Star Wars The Force Awakens)
2016: Baron Zemo (Captain America Civil War)
2017: Hela (Thor Ragnarok)
2018: Thanos (Avengers Infinity War)
2019: Thanos (Avengers Endgame); Mysterio (Spider-Man Far From Home)
2020: Dr. 'Eggman' Robotnik (Sonic the Hedgehog)
2021: Green Goblin (Spider-Man No Way Home); Lyutsifer Safin (No Time to Die)
Some of these have 2 villains instead of one since there are so many great ones. Green Goblin and Thanos qualify twice since they both appear in films associated with both MCU and individual continuities (in Green Goblin's case).
Magneto wasn’t really a villain tho
I only have 2 disagreements: I think 2007 should be Venom and 2020 should be time (from 1917)
Thank you
@@Eaz608 I only count him because he was the villain for the very first movie in the X-Men saga.
You need to watch more movies. No Country for Old Men (2007), Inglorious Basterds (2009)
This list is full of the baddies we all know and love to hate. Yet, it's got me thinking that you should do a top 20 villains for every year. Then you can add villains like the Armitage Family, Calvin Candy, Alonzo Harris and Killmonger.
Bane is criminally underrated. Infact I think Tom Hardy's performance was either on par or better compared with Heath Ledger's joker.
Its such a shame that people always associate every Batman movie with Joker.
Completely Agree with your choices.
There were the most memorable great movies that can't be forgotten.
Well-done💯
@Black Mamba 4 Life 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤❤❤
Except for 2021. Goblin was snubbed for that one
Still think Darth Sidious should’ve taken 2005 and Green Goblin for 2002
@@knightmare5097 2019 as well. Joaquin should’ve been the easy pick there
Dark Knight Rises is the opposite if a great film.
I thank most Spider-Man and Batman Villains are really good
And Thanos in Avengers Infinity War and Avengers Endgame
Suggestion: Top 20 fictional children/adolescents who became evil.
Oh my goddd! Joker, Lord Voldemort, Kylo Ren, Thanos, and Rose the Hat. My favorite villains tbh. 🤍🖤
I remember liking Kylo Ren because of all the hype for him then he took his mask off and from there he was ruined
No. Not Kylo Ren. He is no where near the others. He is just an annoying, unstable brat with nothing imtimidating about him whatsoever. I don’t know why people still think he is a good villain, let alone anyone in the sequel trilogy. They are all one dimensional Empire look-alikes.
All 3 Christopher Nolan batman villans made the list and it's pretty obvious that the heath ledger joker made it in too R.I.P. Ledger
May he rest in peace.
Great Idea hope you do this with TV shows somehow
2021: Green Goblin (Spiderman No way home)
2022: Wolf "Death" (Puss in Boots the Last Wish)
2018:
MCU Thanos from ‘Avengers: Infinity War.’
Anton Chigurh is single handedly the scariest movie villain in all of cinematic history... the psychopathic and sociopathic combination within his character's personality makes even the bravest movie watchers pay attention to strangers... Lesson Learned! Someone asks you to pick heads or tails... just walk away
Awesome 👏
First comment, congrats!
Going from Hans Landa to Dr Schultz shows Waltz’s acting pedigree perfectly. One movie he makes you wanna strangle him, the other you’d gladly die for him. Phenomenal actor
2007 - No Country For Old Men
2008 - The Dark Knight
2009 - Inglorious Bastards
Possibly the best three consecutive years for movies in this century. 😮
The joker is amazing
I would have picked Syndrome from The Incredibles for 2004 and put both Ra’s Al Ghul and Scarecrow for 2005.
What makes Anton Chigurh stand out is not only his philosophy and the sheer danger involved just interacting with him, but also his utter mystery and ambiguity. There are strong nothing is scarier vibes with him especially given how other killers are on edge and dreading his presence.
Which of the following do you think is the greatest villain of 2021? (Congrats to you if you know who these all are)
A. An alien who fought Greek Gods and Goddesses
B. An immortal warlord turned man consumed by grief, not even phased by trying to kill his kids multiple times
C. A man made of electricity
D. A deranged super soldier on a glider that loves pain
E. Killer alien symbiotes
F. Scientists who use a hotel as a front to conduct human experiments
G. A bunch of ghosts
H. A one dimensional Disney villain annoyed that she is loosing popularity
(Edit: I could make this a lot longer but you get the idea)
Mine:
2000: Patrick Bateman - American Psycho
2001: Alonzo Harris - Training Day
2002: The Caller - Phone Booth
2003: Lee Woo-jin - Oldboy
2004: Same
2005: Palpatine / Darth Sidious - Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith
2006: Same
2007: Same
2008: Same
2009: Same
2010: Gideon “G-Man” Graves - Scott Pilgrim vs the World
2011: Same
2012: Special Deputy Charley Rakes - Lawless
2013: General Zod - Man of Steel
2014: Amy Elliot Dunne - Gone Girl
2015: Gordon “Gordo” Moseley - The Gift
2016: The Beast - Split
2017: Colonel J. Wesley McCullough - War for the Planet of the Apes
2018: Same
2019: Elijah Price / Mr. Glass - Glass
2020: Isabel “La Bruja” Aretas - Bad Boys for Life
2021: Owen / Nothing - The Night House
I’d put immortan Joe from mad max as 2015
Glad to see Jigsaw on here 👍🏼
2001 - Alonzo Harris (Training Day)
2010 - Lotso huggin bear (Toy Story 3)
2019 - Ransom (Knives out)
"you either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become a villain"
- Harvey Dent
Liked and am watching!!!!
I’m glad Barron Von Zemo got some love on this list.
I remember when “Civil War” came out, the “Snyder fans” were giving the movie sh*t (Calling Zemo a cliche villain) and were proclaiming that Jesse Heisenberg’s portrayal as Lex Luther was the best villain of the year 2016 and that “Batman V Superman” was a masterpiece of cinema.
When they did that, I cringed so hard and was thinking “ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND! WHAT F*CKING MOVIE DID YOU GUYS WATCH?!!!”
well you are doing the same thing zemo is a great villain but best ? naah, also lex was also a great villain but best? naah
I agree, most villains have perks like superstrength or something, but Zemo is outmatched against every hero in a one on one setting. But he uses his smarts to pin them against each other, so he never has to fight. Best villain of the Marvel universe imo
@@ash-gr3gr Yeah…also not a fan of the whole gaslighting/false equivalency arguments such as “You say I did X but you’re no better for doing Y and Z”.
I’ve heard that one a million times online.
FACTS
DC FANS 🤡🤡🤡
Hans Landa was fascinating to watch! I secretly was sad when they killed him in the film. The guy who played IT was amazing!! No rooom for improvement, he brought that character to life and scared the begeez out of me. Well done.
Who else just realised that cillian Murphy(Thomas Shelby from peaky blinders) played as scarecrow
Sauron is a great villain but I would’ve chosen Gollum.
Thank you for including Black Mask :-)
On off the best Comicbook Movie villians.
Green Goblin literally blew open the multiverse, killed a central character, and made everyone forget about Peter Parker, ruining his life. How is Baroness the one for 2021
When the villains of each part of a trilogy are in it, it Shows how great the villains of this trilogy is( i am talking about the dark knight trilogy)
Can you do Top 22 best movie heroes of each year (2000 - 2021)?
Awesome
When they're good they're good, but when they're bad, so bad, they deserve a spot on this list.
Everyone always says evil is fun to play. You can tell when the actors loved it.
It's pretty tough not to have Agent Smith on this list, but at the same time due to his competition, I can understand...
2005 has to be for Sheev Emperor Palpatine (Star Wars), they way he changed the destiny in the galaxy, he manipulated the chosen one and making him his apprentice, makes him one of the best Villains of all time.
To me .. 2021's greatest villain was the Mandarin/ Wen Wu . Though he isn't tactically the main villain .. but he had his fare share of impact on Shang chi . Due to His character Shang chi is my 2021's fav movie. You know when the villain's explored that way and ends up with a tragic death..you can connect to him so easily.
Finally some recognition for Doctor Sleep! A sequel made so many years later had no right being so good, and Rebecca Ferguson killed it! Good stuff
The best villain of 2018 is Matt Reeves by a long shot!
2019 imo should have been Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker
Rose the Hat, one of the best negative and underrated performances ever.
Rey: Where am I?
Kylo Ren: You*re my guest
Makes me chuckle
I think PATRICK BATEMAN is a much more sinister villain than Commodus
Except there's no hero. He needs someone to be a villain to.
It's a list of greatest Christopher Nolan villains by year lol haha great video and list
Can you do best villain in video games for every year with Scarecrow in Arkham Knight in 2015?
580: Loki is my favorite villain. Not because he’s a killer and full of mischief but the reason is, he’s fun and I think he has cool charm
My favorites in order
It 2017. Pennywise. Best horror villain of the decade.
The dark knight. Joker. Heath ledger's performance is legendary.
The dark knight rises. Bane. Because he broke the bat. Love that scene so much.
Gangs of new York. Bill the butcher. There is nothing Daniel day Lewis can't do perfectly.
Deathly Hallows part 2. Lord Voldemort. One of my favorite villains ever.
Saw. John Kramer (jigsaw). Might not be the best horror franchise but jigsaw is a terrifying villain and a master manipulator.
The force awakens. Kylo ren. Gets alot of hate from fans and non fans, but I think he is a great villain and it's hard not to feel sorry for him.
Dr. Sleep. Rose the hat. An amazing movie and villain. She is sinister, relentless and maniacal.
Infinity war. Thanos. I doubt any upcoming mcu villains will ever surpass the mad titan.
Gorr might surpass Thanos

2017:
Pennywise, the Dancing Clown from the ‘It’ remake.
I’m so glad Rose the Hat was was included. She is easily one of the most despicable and evil characters I’ve ever seen put to film. Rebecca played it so well too
Is Xu Wenwu here? He is literally one of the best villain.
2000 - 2009 is fire. So many all-time great movie villains. I didn't realize how good that decade was for this!
Awesome for mentioning Antone* , thought of him the minute this list was up..🎥❤️

Everything except Cruella & **** , but understand it’s more difficult to pin a good villain nowadays..
this woman’s voice will live inside my head till i die

2005 should have been Palpatine ( Darth Sidious)

I would’ve voted for Michael Myers

One of the things that made Hans Landa so effective as a villain was that he was absolutely ruthless but at the same time he was both charismatic and even charming.

Honestly, I thought Ra’s Al Ghul was the better villain in Batman Begins. Scarecrow was phenomenal but the reveal that Ra’s was the real mastermind is one of my favorite twists, and Liam Neeson is just great in the role
