Wow, my friend, I'm sending love. I'm glad you can relate to that tree -- I've probably never suffered anything close to what you have, but there are times when that tree has helped me to remember that even when things look very dark, there is something more waiting if I can "listen" past my pain. Thank you for being with me today =)
I love how you use a tree that is alive when all else says otherwise to point us back to our pure Being. I enjoyed the time together as always. Thank you!
Greetings dear Kenton, another beautiful story from your glorious woodland. What you are looking at there is an example of epicormic growth. This is where a tree when it is under stress or in this case falls, a dormant bud that is beneath the bark of the tree will come to life and reach back to the light. I have several such trees in my woodlands along the river. Anyway a little tale from my woodlands today. I was clearing back some brambles and I found beneath them some old branches of an ash tree. These branches were from a larger branch that I had cut to make some bowls seven years ago, they still had the cut marks on them. It was like finding some old friends. I sat with them for a while, help them in my hand and observed what the passage of time had carved into the bark and the wood. Perhaps a small inconsequential thing but for me these are the tales of the riverbank and the story of this rich and wonderful place.
Some time ago, I went on a solo hike along a beautiful and wild trail in Romania. Toward the end of the hike, I was tired, but suddenly, I saw a tree on the side of the path with two bumps that looked like eyes. It amused me, so I stopped to take a selfie with it. I really enjoy discovering unique trees that seem to tell a story. 😊
How fun! Trees have so many mysteries -- bumps and scars, scratches and twists -- endless little ways of being in the world, with endless stories to tell! I enjoyed yours! =)
People who don't walk in the woods don't know what they are missing. I was looking for a nest, it never even occured to me it was alive! Dead trees are always do unique and iconic
So glad you took the challenge! Yes, it was VERY difficult to see just from the footage. In fact, being there in person, when I realized the upper branch had leaves a few years back, I had to search and search to figure out how the limbs were attached to the ground. I never thought to look all the way over on the far side of the log, but there was that root, strong and thick, working its way into the ground! =)
I've just had one of the hardest times in my life. I relate to that tree more than I do with many people 😅
