Hi Nikki, thanks for the tips! Could you share more details on the layering? Is it multiple layers of the same color products, or layering a certain order of liquid, powder, spray, or maybe powder blush, contour, bronzer on top of liquid versions? All of the above? 😂 This would be a super helpful video!
Can you please show us this Layering technique for longevity with a longevity tutorial please please please! I Love you! I truly enjoy everything you share and I greatly appreciate you and your knowledge you share! I cant get enough of you!! 🩷
I think it would be better for companies to take out the SPF in our makeup! The amount of SPF protection is so minimal unless half the bottle is used. I think it’s harms more consumers than benefits them. Great Video!
I am 64 and simply cannot conpromise on my skincare routine and narrow it down to three products. But, you reminded me how important it is to wait befiore applying makeup after skincare and Elta MD sunscreen. I now set a timer for 30 minutes. Added plus is my skin is super sensitive to touching and gentlly rubbing in products. Waiting 30 minutes ensures redness has cleared up which means I need way less makeup. Thanks!
Hi Nikki❤️I'm getting married in September and would love a video on tips and tricks for bridal makeup. Especially tones that would suit me. I am a medium olive with Dark hair and brown eyes. Your advise would make my day! Sending you tons of love from South Africa
I love the liquid exfoliator tip & would love to see more tips. I always look forward to watching your videos. You always provide such helpful information & are straight forward. Thank you for sharing your expertise, Nikki! ❤
I need the cherry 🍒 on the top every day!!! I don’t like my makeup without a primer. Maybe it’s because I have combination skin. I have trouble changing up my skin prep but I never miss the primer. The Hourglass one is my favorite.
I would love to see a dedicated video on both drugstore primers, and high end primers for mature skin (over 50 skin) pore filling primers, and what primers help your makeup go on smoothly for when you really need to look your best. Thank You!
I've been using a chemical exfoliator for the past 25 years and I really notice it if I ever skip a day/night. It really does leave my skin super soft and smooth and helps my skincare to better penetrate. Thanks for this video, Nikki. Always love and appreciate your openness and honesty! Enjoy your day! Lots of love from me in the UK 🇬🇧 ❤️ 💕 😊
@EMMYK1916 Hello! I've religiously used clean and clear for sensitive skin which is salicylic acid, then a mild glycolic acid which I leave on my skin like a serum then once a week I used stronger AHA leave on/wash off by the ordinary. Always follow with a mild retinol serum, niacinamide only on my T - zone, then a collagen infused moisturiser all over, including my neck! I'm almost 50. Never use foundation. Just clear, glowing skin! Hope that helps. Products don't have to be expensive, just effective.
Would love a video on primers ! Also you have to try the Dior glow filter I think it’s amazing and feels so good on the skin ! I think it looks better than Ct flawless filter
Could you please do a video of your favorite sunscreens to wear with makeup? It is such an important product, but it is so difficult to find one that doesn’t feel like you are sacrificing comfort or a good makeup day!Thank you for all of your great content!
I would love a dedicated primer video. Even after BHA exfoliants, setting spray and light setting powder, I still have to blot within an hour. I live in a humid climate so any extra help is so appreciated! I'm acne prone so finding one that won't clog pores is even more challenging.
Hi! Thank you for sharing! 😊 I would love to see a video of “might make up look” but with the layering effect you are speaking about here. As a mom of two wild babies I have limited amount of time in the mornings, but would love to learn to layer properly without caking on the make up! Thank you!!!!!❤❤❤
Nikki, I hear you-about the layering technique- but, like others, not only do I not have a lot of time; but my BIGGEST concern is that I am of a “mature” age where I have found that less makeup = less exaggerated lines/creases!! HELP!
I started seeing that pillow about 10 months ago. Would love to try it, but I can't afford it. Also, I just started exfoliating my face every morning about a week ago instead of just washing it. I already exfoliate at night when I take my makeup off. Using the Sonia Roselli Sexapeel every morning has been a game Changer!
Yes I would like the primer stuff and a could you touch on why some foundations work with and others not - the water vs silicones- and how to layer- I would love to watch a in-depth layered look- like say you had a party attend - representing your business- how would you do you make up- could you show those layers- so we can just watch step by step?
I’m all about skincare and exfoliation. My issue is huge pores that eat makeup and leave me looking like a Lichtenstein print. I’d love to hear more about primers. Especially if there’s a sunscreen that could act as a primer.
Great tips. Thank you. I'd love to see a video on how you prepare your skin for makeup, including the products you use and recommend for different skin types.
Will definitely be trying a liquid exfoliate. I heard you mention this in a tutorial not long ago & had not ever heard of them before (yes I live under a rock😅). I will be checking out the pillow as well. Agree on seeing a layering video! I know you layer in your videos but a step by step start to finish for layering would be awesome!! Thanks again for sharing your knowledge & expertise!! There’s a reason you’re the best!!!❤
OMG, I was using a liquid exfoliator from Farmacy & I did (and do) like it, but I picked up the REN one on a whim & man, the difference even in a couple uses was awesome! I woke up & my skin was glowing & more even toned!
I have really improved my makeup routine and my cleansing and care for my skin. I am dealing with beak outs, stress and change in Synthroid meds being reduce. Just as I was starting to really make my routine work better for me. I really enjoy watching you. by the way I am 68 but everyone thinks tells me I look younger.😄
I started using a chemical exfoliant after watching your videos and it literally changed my skin and how makeup sits on my skin! I have noticed how much smoother my texture is and how much better my makeup looks! 💗
I use both types of exfoliators. I am in my 60's and have really started my skin care journey in the last 2 years. I have always used sunscreen and hats. I limited my time in the sun as I am fair. Just the last 2 years I have noticed noticeable results with consistent skin care. I appreciate your information and would love to see a video on primers.
@@Makeupbynikkilarosethank you! My under eye area doesn’t feel dry, but I always have a textured/patchy area near the outer corners. Can a primer fix this? I’ve been trying to use the e.l.f. Power Grip Primer with niacinamide (the pink one).
Nikki Would love to see a primer video!! But also more videos on skin prep for all skin types with a list of different products to use for each type. I’m very dry with mature skin & have tried so many products. Just really struggling since my glowy Chanel foundation got discontinued. I’m a skin nerd & still can’t figure out. Love all you do! ❤ you go girl.
Yes please do a primer video!!! Thank you for all the hard work you do for these videos they are immensely helpful! My makeup game has changed so much since I started watching you and I’ve been watching makeup tutorials since 2009 since kandee Johnson’s first makeup video! You’re amazing thank you!
I would love more info on layering makeup. I’m picturing going back and forth between liquids/creams and powders, but that doesn’t seem right lol. This video has so much great info!
One of the best and down to earth mua! I found you through Susan’s videos and I’m so glad I did. Very knowledgeable and I always end up referencing your videos when getting ready. I don’t usually wear heavy makeup (only light that gives a more natural look) so I love the techniques and tips you share on your channel. Thank you for all your informative videos! Also, am I the only one who is in love with your soothing voice? Whenever I watch your video while getting ready, I feel like I’m at a spa 😅❤
I’m 47 and my skin and makeup have never looked better since implementing the majority of your tips for makeup and skincare application. Can’t wait to receive my brush set. Just ordered it and I’m so excited to try them.
This was a good refresher. I knew most of this already. I'm glad I wasn't alone in not using primer all the time! Skincare is a big part of my routine. Love your videos.
I have the pillow and I love it! I didn’t see the brands or names of the skin affiliates you were showing. I have tried some and I was interested that you said to start slow and then add so I am going to try that because every time I do try to use them I peel. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us and for doing it in such an honest and grounded way... LOVE your videos!!!! I so appreciate hearing about the mistakes... but would love to understand the "do's." In terms of layering... even light layers... how is this done without overdoing pigment (blush, bronzer,...) and avoiding looking cakey with too much in general... Would love to understand how to do this for everyday makeup that we still want to have last for the day. THANK YOU ❤
I COMPLETELY agree with the primer thing! In the summer when my skin is oily, I use a mattifying primer and matte foundation to help it last all day after my moisturizer and SPF. When my skin is drier in the winter, I use satin or hydrating foundation with a hydrating primer and tons of moisturizer. Most of the time I don’t need primer and I use a good drugstore moisturizer recommended by a dermatologist. Once I put my SPF on, I let it sink in for a little bit and put my makeup over it. 9/10 times, the lasting power and look of my makeup is based on my skincare and the formula of the foundation and concealer I’m using. My favorite sunscreen for under makeup is the Elf Woah Glow sunscreen! They have a blurring version too that works great for the summer heat. I use both all over my face in a healthy amount and they are AWESOME! I use them like I would a normal SPF.
Hello ~~ I’m not Nikki of course but two that I LOVE are the Beauty of Joseon sunscreen and the Canmake Mermaid Gel CLEAR. It says 01 on the back. Both of those are great under makeup. ♥️😎👍🏼. Also I know Nikki likes the Biore watery sun gel. I have the watery sun essence sunscreen and it is great under makeup as well.
Fabulous video Nikki ❤ I love the “teaching” style as it’s so informative and very much appreciated! You, Andrea Ali and Hung Vanngo are the very best on RUclips ❤ Oh and I’d love a video on the primers that you do like ❤
I love your videos and always learn so much! I used to work at several different makeup counters and being trained is only geared of course to the brands. All things skin care is my true obsession! I love to hear all of your tips and tricks; good and not so good. I have said goodbye to primers because hopefully a good foundation doesn’t need one. It was too confusing what to use! Hey, we did fine before primers were even a thing! I love love love your brushes, your style, your personality! 58 here and I’m so glad I found you not too long ago. ( sorry to ramble) ❤
1. My face does eat my foundation-with or without primer. Long lasting doesn’t exist in hot & humid Texas. Thoughts? 2. Most liquid exfoliants make my skin feel sticky. Naturium? ❤
Love this video and all your tips!! I would love to see a video on primers. And honestly even a video where you can see primers and maybe an option on how to use skincare products instead of the primer. If that makes any sense. I live in Florida and with the humidity here always get nervous to use no primer which is weird I know 🤣 but you are amazing and I’ve tried so many of your suggestions that have improved my makeup longevity and the look of it! 🩵💜
With the layering thing: this is why I always tell friends to use setting spray! I feel that setting spray is one of the most important steps during the process and at the very end of the look.
I would love to see a skin care routine for oily skin. I feel like I can’t put skincare on before makeup because it makes my skin even oilier faster. Looking forward to trying the liquid exfoliator tho.
skin care changed my world and watching your video's made me stick with it cause it did take almost 2 months. I am on disability so I didn't have much money so it was start with 2 products and I had no idea what to try, not a clue and I was so inspired by your skin that I trusted you and went for the d'alba line. Spray serum and moisturizing stick to begin with to afford it. it took me a while to find a good cleanser, you actually suggested something from this brand so I tried this instead and its a game changer for me big time. It's by haruharu wonder and its their Black rice moisture deep cleansing oil. It takes off all layers of everything in 1 wash, I had to read the directions first thou. It's gold. Tir Tir makes a milky cleanser that's also gold. You get the idea, im finally rounding out my routine. Thank You so much for being my inspiration.
Hi Nikki, really enjoy your tutorials! Here’s my question - I’ve only recently heard about facial essences - how do you feel about them and would you be able to give us a little insight on them, and if they’re worth a look into. Thank you!
I was never a primer gal until I tried the new Paula's Choice tinted sunscreen/primer. It's REALLY good on my oily skin. The tint is super subtle, just enough to eliminate the white cast of the sunscreen and even out the appearance of the skin. I live in sunny southern AZ and wore only this product outside for four hours straight without reapplying and that sunscreen worked. And I've yet to find a foundation that doesn't actually look smoother and more natural overtop of that sunscreen/primer. (I've used Maybelline, L'oreal, Uoma Beauty, Haus Labs, Dior, Estee Lauder, Smashbox, ColourPop, Fenty, and Charlotte Tillbury over it with complete success and absolutely no pilling or discoloration.)
Nikki, you are so right about the sunscreen. It's definitely not enough if it's in your makeup. You need a "real" SPF at least 30SPF, but even better at 50. Rain or shine. Every single day. I've been doing it since my late 20s ,(I'm 64 now), and have very few wrinkles. That and Tretinoin have kept my skin looking younger. Also, a big one, no matter how tired you are at night, makeup has to be removed. No excuses. Sleeping in makeup can age you. I love the way the pillow sounds, as a fellow side sleeper. Interesting about the liquid exfoliator. Even if you are using a Tretinoin? I was under the impression that it was an exfoliator. I'll definitely try it, if my dermatologist says it's ok. As usual, a fabulous, informative video. Thanks, Nikki. ❤❤
I was curious. Im sure that you couldn't use them at the same time, but Tretinoin does make the skin more sensitive. I guess you'd have to use the exfoliator in the morning. 😊@@kathleenp3135
Hi Nikki! Thank you so much for these tips, instead of the usual “…don’t powder then use creams over…” “…don’t use too much foundation…” etc etc😉❤️ appreciate the fresh new ideas!! Love you!!!
Hi Nikki… can you please do a video on how to contour to make my face look fuller … I KNOW this is the opposite of what is normally done with lifted looks … but I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and have lost sooo much weight in the process of the treatments and surgery and my cheeks looks so thin and …. I need to learn how to apply blush & contour to make my face look fuller…. Thank you so much! Ps: 54yrs old so def in the aging process as well
I recently gifted this pillow to myself, the side sleeper version. I was hesitant, thinking it was gimmicky. But let me tell you how the puffiness and sleep wrinkles have been drastically reduced. Treat yourself, the pillow is worth it!!
Hi Nikki. You have to use a quarter of a teaspoon of sunscreen to get the proper spf. So you can image how much makeup you would have to use to get that coverage. Also makeup is not regulated like spf so who knows if your makeup is being honest about the coverage.
It may seem like à lot at first but with sunscreen you should put a line on pointer finger & middle finger ( yes that much ) then apply to face and neck. Protect your skin ladies ..you will thank yourself when your 40 ,50 etc .
In summer I always wear a moisturiser that's SPF 30 then a separate SPF 50. This SPF I started using it last summer and it made my freckles on my forehead less and almost disappear 😁 Can you do a layering video please
Yes! Liquid exfoliator is the way to go for sure. I'm one of those people that has really good luck with glycolic acid and never had any trouble getting used to it. I use a 15% glycolic serum that is meant to be left on every single day, then every 3 weeks I use a 30% solution with retinol that can only be left on 8 minutes, and I just cannot say enough about these serums. I've gotten VERY expensive chemical peels, and honestly, with these glycolic (they also have lactic acid in them) serums, when used daily to a better job. They really, really do, and it's so much less expensive, and for anyone interested, using a 15% glycolic acid serum, when used every day, increases skin thickness by 27% (I don't remember how long it has to be used to see those results, but it really is worth is). My nighttime moisturizer contains 3 types of lactic acid. These keep my skin clear, smooth, and honestly I wear very, very minimal makeup and get compliments on my skin all the time
@@kathleenp3135 Sure! The 15% Glycolic serum is "InstaSkincare Glycolic Acid Exfoliating and Brightening Facial Serum" It's right at $10. For me, that one is pretty mild but very effective. However, if you're not used to using these serums, it may be best to start slow and as your skin can tolerate it. So at first instead of every day, it may need to be every 3 days until your skin adjusts The stronger peel (I personally didn't experience peeling from this, but others have) is YEOUTH Glycolic Acid Peel for Face, Chemical Peel for Face at Home Glycolic Acid 30% Gel Professional with Retinol & Green Tea. I used this to jump-start my chemical exfoliation process, and my advice is to follow the directions carefully, and definitely don't apply to broken/irritated skin (learned my lesson the hard way) because even if it's only left on for 30 seconds, it's strong enough it will eat through the delicate skin around the area with the wound (in my case, a popped pimple), then I was left with a larger wound for a lot longer than necessary had I just followed the instructions With the 15% serum, a light moisturizer works really well The stronger solution works best with a heavier moisturizer. Also, the 15% serum with a heavier moisturizer regularly really does help the skin heal faster (I know it's terrible, but I'm a pimple popper. I try not to, but some days. . .) Also, I'm just clarifying before someone comes after me in the comments - my mom works with a medical esthetician, and I made sure to ask her about these products before I bought them, and she said they are great to use and even said she uses a very similar one that's also a 15% solution, and she doesn't even do the more expensive peels on her face anymore. I think that's kinda' cool
Can you show us the layering tutorial

Adding my voice for a layering technique and a primer video 😊. Thank you for sharing your beauty wisdom! 😘
Yes, I would love to learn the technique of layering!
Fabulous video Nikki ❤ I love the “teaching” style as it’s so informative and very much appreciated! You, Andrea Ali and Hung Vanngo are the very best on RUclips ❤ Oh and I’d love a video on the primers that you do like ❤
Of course I would love a primer video 🤣 & plz share what u mean by layering 🙏
I need a new skincare routine, I’m glad you talked about this 👌🏼
I love your videos and always learn so much!
Naturium? ❤
I would love a video on layering!
Thank you I really needed to know about problem nr: 3 I’ll try it directly
Always wondered how I can make it stay on lounger 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Hi Nikki. I am very interested in hearing about the primers you use. I love your videos! Thank you💞
I have always layered powders over creams and liquids, and that helps longevity. I’d love to see your process.
.
I would really like to see a video on your favorite primers. This video is packed with very useful information. Thank you for all your hard work!
More in more in thin layers. I had to write it to remember it. Thanks for the tip, gorgeous
I use naturism moisturizer with spf 50+ and I love the instruction that I need to fill the top with product to get the amount of spf I need.
With the layering thing: this is why I always tell friends to use setting spray! I feel that setting spray is one of the most important steps during the process and at the very end of the look.
Just found your channel and I love your practical, realistic advice. Would love to hear about the primers you like and about layering makeup.
Liquid exfoliation has changed my skin for the better! It’s never been so soft & smooth! 🙌🏿😍
Love this so much! The liquid exfoliant your recommended is my favorite!!
Hi Nikki, really enjoy your tutorials! Here’s my question - I’ve only recently heard about facial essences - how do you feel about them and would you be able to give us a little insight on them, and if they’re worth a look into. Thank you!
I love Eminence Essence after toner
I have very sensitive skin. Should I still use a liquid exfoliater? Which one ? Thank you Nikki
Great question re:tretinoin
I was curious. Im sure that you couldn't use them at the same time, but Tretinoin does make the skin more sensitive. I guess you'd have to use the exfoliator in the morning. 😊@@kathleenp3135
Tips, tricks, things to avoid etc. are some of my absolute FAVORITE kinds of videos! ❤
Ps: 54yrs old so def in the aging process as well
So helpful! Yes we want more makeup mistakes videos.
Thank you for these videos! I would love to know what are the best sunscreens are for under makeup.
I recently gifted this pillow to myself, the side sleeper version. I was hesitant, thinking it was gimmicky. But let me tell you how the puffiness and sleep wrinkles have been drastically reduced. Treat yourself, the pillow is worth it!!
I would love a Primer Video please! And how to layer our skin prep.
Yes, help!! Do serums go on first? Does a sunscreen go on first? When does moisturizer go on? Right before the foundation or is that the primer?
Hi Nikki. You have to use a quarter of a teaspoon of sunscreen to get the proper spf. So you can image how much makeup you would have to use to get that coverage. Also makeup is not regulated like spf so who knows if your makeup is being honest about the coverage.
Layering video please! Especially it about how to use the exfoliation 💙
Would love a video on primers please ? Also how to know if a primer and foundation with work well together
Hi Nikki, which exfoliate were you showing us please, and yes please on a primer video.
Thanks, always enjoy your content.
It may seem like à lot at first but with sunscreen you should put a line on pointer finger & middle finger ( yes that much ) then apply to face and neck. Protect your skin ladies ..you will thank yourself when your 40 ,50 etc .
I’d love a video about layering but also a good portion of it talking about the best primers for different skin types.
A video on layering make up and primers would be awesome ❤
These keep my skin clear, smooth, and honestly I wear very, very minimal makeup and get compliments on my skin all the time
Can you please share the products you use? Thank you!
So at first instead of every day, it may need to be every 3 days until your skin adjusts
The stronger peel (I personally didn't experience peeling from this, but others have) is YEOUTH Glycolic Acid Peel for Face, Chemical Peel for Face at Home Glycolic Acid 30% Gel Professional with Retinol & Green Tea. I used this to jump-start my chemical exfoliation process, and my advice is to follow the directions carefully, and definitely don't apply to broken/irritated skin (learned my lesson the hard way) because even if it's only left on for 30 seconds, it's strong enough it will eat through the delicate skin around the area with the wound (in my case, a popped pimple), then I was left with a larger wound for a lot longer than necessary had I just followed the instructions
With the 15% serum, a light moisturizer works really well
The stronger solution works best with a heavier moisturizer. Also, the 15% serum with a heavier moisturizer regularly really does help the skin heal faster (I know it's terrible, but I'm a pimple popper. I try not to, but some days. . .)
Also, I'm just clarifying before someone comes after me in the comments - my mom works with a medical esthetician, and I made sure to ask her about these products before I bought them, and she said they are great to use and even said she uses a very similar one that's also a 15% solution, and she doesn't even do the more expensive peels on her face anymore. I think that's kinda' cool
Thanks for all the great advice! Love your videos. And yes a primer video please!
I would love a layering basics tutorial, especially on layering blush. Thanks!
Primers that fill in wrinkle lines- forehead, nasal labial, and marionette. Most seem to be just for pores!
