The Rise and Fall of the Seljuk Empire : Medieval Turko-Persian, Sunni Muslim empire

The Seljuk Empire or the Great Seljuk Empire, was a high medieval, culturally Turko-Persian, Sunni Muslim empire, established and ruled by the Qïnïq branch of Oghuz Turks.
The pastoralist Turks overtook Asia Minor during the 1070’s and ruled until 1300.
The Seljuks left a rich historical legacy. They brought Turkic culture and Islam into Anatolia, and later morphed into the Ottoman Empire.
The Seljuk Turks were known for their conquest of the Anatolian Peninsula, their role in defeating the Crusaders in the Second Crusade, and their military tactics with the bow.
