    I watched this video a month ago I invested in a weed sprayer and use hot to warm water wrinkles practically come out within minutes. I also invested in a steamer for those impossible creases works wonders. All my backdrop cloths are wrinkle free and on a rolling system that's attached to my wall gives me an extra foot of shooting space.

    I bought a couple of vinyl backdrops,
    the sales photos just showed beautiful
    scenes. When I took them out of the pkg,
    the looked terrible, still do. So I see that
    vinyl is the ticket, got it!!

    • @silverlakephoto
      @silverlakephoto  3 года назад

      Vinyl is a completely different beast. On the plus side, it is one of the least expensive substrates available. On the negative side, they will be absolute wrinkle nightmares.Vinyl backdrops are often the same type of material you would get with a disposable tablecloth. This method will not work on vinyl as it is basically plastic and will not absorb the water in any way, so the wrinkles will not release the same way that these Muslin backdrops do.

      backdrops, I need a better source than
      amazon. I have stage scenes, I need
      to replace them, but it looks like most
      of the Cloth/Muslim drops are for

    but how to remove wrinkles from polyester backdrop ?

    • @silverlakephoto
      @silverlakephoto  6 лет назад

      I'm not sure whether you are talking about some of the Polyester blend backdrops that we sell or some from another company, but our polyester backdrops can be washed and run through a dryer or placed in a dryer with a wet towel. This is an effective hands off approach to wrinkles in polyester, but if it's not one of ours, I would recommend consulting the care instructions first.

    • @silverlakephoto
      @silverlakephoto  8 лет назад +4

      +Chris Adval The creases will disappear as well. If they are not going away, apply a bit more water front and back. We have used this on drops that have sat heavily compressed for a couple of years and we are ready to shoot on them in just a few minutes.

    • @silverlakephoto
      @silverlakephoto  9 лет назад +1

      D. Allen Martin Humidity levels will vary in different parts of the country and different seasons, but we have never had any issues with mildew. In reality, you are not putting much water on it for the size of the material. By the time we are done shooting, the backdrops do not even feel damp to the touch.

    OMG, WOW, that was incredible. I do have a question though, you said you wet it and then you are ready to store it, aren't you afraid of molding because the fabric will be moist and if you fold it without drying it will mold, so was I correct to hear that?

    • @silverlakephoto
      @silverlakephoto  6 лет назад +1

      David Macias - you will want the backdrop to be fairly dry before folding to prevent mold or mildew. Our climate is quite dry and the backdrops are typically dry enough to fold after I have shot for an hour or so. In a very humid climate, it might be necessary to toss it to the side and fold at the end of the day rather than the end of the session.

    • @silverlakephoto

      +cormaccrawley - We are located in a very dry climate and never have trouble with the backdrop drying by the time we have finished shooting. If you live in a very humid area, it would be wise to give it enough time to dry without being damp as to avoid any mold or mildew.

    • @silverlakephoto
      @silverlakephoto  10 лет назад +1

      The more you use a Hand Painted Muslin, the more the fibers will break in and the less wrinkle issues you will have. Once I have used a muslin for a few months, they really don't have much for wrinkles, unless we have folded and stacked or set something heavy on them. For storage, we have a cubby type set up that we just loosely ball them and stuff them in the storage compartments that allow us to see what we have going at any given time.
